GENERAL INFO  

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II positions provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program and administration support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, part-time position requires working an average of 10 to 20 hours per week, but no more than 999 hours per fiscal year total. The roles involve ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)  

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment.  
• Supervise teams/groups of other program staff or volunteers under the direction of Supervisor.  
• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas.  
• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms.  
• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements.  
• Perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure facility safety and upkeep.  
• Enforce policies, maintain discipline, and provide customer service to patrons.

• Open/close the facility and monitor for safety, cleanliness, and proper use.

• Use computer systems for data entry and registrations.  
• Assist patrons with registration processing and POS transactions.  
• Handle office tasks including deliveries, organization, mail distribution, and information sharing.  
• Support office inventory management for supplies and equipment.  
• Participate in safety training and emergency procedures.  
• Assist facility attendants and support programs, services, and events as needed.

FACILITY ATTENDANT (Illustrative purposes only)  

• Greet patrons, and provide information on programs, services, schedules, rules, and policies.

• Oversee and guide program staff in their daily duties, ensuring high standards of supervision, engagement, and participant safety. 
• Assist in planning, organizing, and scheduling program activities to create a balanced and enjoyable experience.
• Address behavioral issues and manage group dynamics and foster a positive environment for participants and staff.
• Enforce safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and monitor the physical and emotional well-being of all participants. 
• Serve as a liaison between camp counselors/program staff, families, and City Staff, addressing concerns and maintaining effective communication. 
• Oversee staff tasks, support logistical operations, and ensure adherence to camp policies, health, and safety regulations.
• Model positive behavior, establish rapport with families, and maintain accurate program records. 
• Mediate participant disputes, assist camp counselors/program staff with behavior management, and provide ongoing support and assistance to staff, participants, and volunteers. 
• Communicate program updates and recommend improvements for materials and equipment.
• Ensure familiarity with and readiness for all emergency procedures and other tasks as directed by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Planning Intern

The Department

The Community Development Department’s Planning Division provides a broad range of services, including review of applications for current ­­­development and long-range planning.

The Position

The Planning Intern will support the Community Development Department - Planning Division with research-based projects and assist staff with minor permit review. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in municipal planning, exposure to development review processes, and an understanding of how planning policies are implemented at the local level. The intern will work closely with planning staff and gain practical insight into zoning, land use regulations, and public-sector planning operations.

Duties: The primary projects will most likely include the following:

•    Conduct research related to land use planning, zoning regulations, and special planning initiatives
•    Assist planning staff with minor permit review
•    Help organize and analyze planning data, maps, and project materials
•    Prepare summaries and other written materials to support planning projects
•    Assist with updating planning documents, handouts, and internal resources
•    Participate in staff meetings and observe planning processes, as appropriate
•    Provide general administrative support to planning staff as needed

Minimum Qualifications

•    BA/BS Candidate in City Planning, Architecture, Public Policy or a similar discipline
•    Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills; effective written and oral communication
•    Interest in municipal planning and public-sector work
•    Familiarity with land use planning concepts or zoning regulations
•    Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
 

Time Commitment

Flexible Schedule, up to 40 hours a week. Each intern is able to work a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

Position Duties

 

The Energy department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division. This position is part of an exciting fast-paced team responsible for mitigating risks and managing a power portfolio comprised of hundreds of Megawatts of renewable energy projects. 

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Develop analytical modeling and reporting for evaluating portfolio-level and enterprise-wide risks, providing insights that strengthen decision making. 
• Define and quantify the risk metric to demonstrate financial risk during extreme, disadvantageous energy market conditions and assess their implications for the organization. 
• Support the creation of scalable risk management tools to track the various operational, financial, strategic, legislative, regulatory risks specific to the energy industry.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess critical energy-sector risks - such as wholesale market fluctuations and evolving regulatory requirements - and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Perform attribution analysis to identify the factors contributing to power portfolio performance and generate insights for strategic decision making.
• Perform sensitivity analyses on key energy-related risk variables using financial modeling techniques to evaluate organizational impact and prepare clear, data-driven reports for management.
• Coordinate with different divisions within the department to identify the key risks across various categories, supporting the development and maintenance of an enterprise risk register.
• Monitor the organization's risk exposure and the effectiveness of existing risk management strategies through continuous data analysis. 
• Evaluate enterprise risks, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate with business units to assess, track, and mitigate business-level risks, while informing enterprise-level risk assessment and management.
• Identify emerging operational and financial risks by analyzing internal and external energy-market data to evaluate risk likelihood, impact, exposure, and control effectiveness, providing strategic recommendations to prevent or reduce potential losses.
• Maintain an understanding of existing and new regulatory laws related to California Energy Regulation and assess how policy changes may impact organizational operations and compliance.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with strong modeling, analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. The candidate should have effective communication skills, show attention to detail, and be able to work independently. The Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division is responsible for providing independent oversight of the risks in transacting for energy products and services as well as ensuring compliance with adopted risk management policies and procedures.  This unit also provides strategic support to facilitate the development and execution of various non-energy contracts, administers signed energy contracts, and manages the invoicing process.
