DEFINITION:

The City of Union City’s Community and Recreation Services Department is seeking passionate, motivated, and certified fitness professionals to join the Mark Green Sports Center (MGSC) team as Group Exercise Instructors and/or Personal Trainers. This position supports the City’s mission to promote health, wellness, and community engagement through high-quality fitness programs. Trainers and instructors work in a supportive, community-based environment — with no commission-based quotas or sales pressure. The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department seeks qualified individuals with the passion and desire to work with youth campers as a summer Camp Counselor (Recreation Leader) in the Parks and Recreation Department.   This position takes direction from the Camp Director and Camp Coordinator (Recreation Program Specialist) and reports to the City's full-time Recreation Coordinator.

INTERVIEWS:  In-person group interviews will occur on Monday, April 13 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm OR Wednesday, April 15 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.  Please be prepared to attend one of these pre-set interview times.

MANDATORY TRAINING:  Must be available for paid training on Saturday, May 30, 2026

Incumbents of the position will provide their own transportation to program site(s). 

Essential Duties:

Camp Counselors (Recreation Leaders) are assigned to the summer day camp programs working with children ages 3 1/2 to 12 years old.  They assist, plan, organize and lead the physical, recreational and social activities of assigned recreation programs under direction of the Camp Director (Recreation Program Specialist) and the Recreation Coordinator.  

• Bring energy and enthusiasm to the camp environment every day.
• Safely and appropriately supervise campers at all times.
• Plan and lead arts, crafts, games and sports according to the theme of the week.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers by modeling positive behavior at all times.
• Use positive discipline with campers and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
• Effectively collaborate with fellow camp staffers and Parks and Recreation Department staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

All City of Orinda employees are expected to uphold and exhibit the City’s core values including serving the public, being respectful and accountable, maintaining professionalism, and demonstrating responsibility.

Education: Must have completed at least ninth (9) grade by the start of camp.  Coursework in recreation, sports, administration, human development, education or related field is preferred.  

Experience: Recreation, athletics and/or education experience is desirable.  Experience teaching and/or working with children and youth age twelve (12) and under is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED training and/or certification are required prior to the first day of camp.  There will be a CPR, First Aid and AED training on the May 30, 2026 Training Day.

Special Requirements:    Appointments to this position are contingent upon:

• A valid work permit issued from school (if under age 18 and have not graduated from high school or received a State Certificate of Proficiency).

DEFINITION:

The Music Instructor is responsible for providing quality music instruction to participants of varying skill levels in a positive and engaging environment. This position requires strong knowledge of music techniques and the ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet individual participants’ needs. THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

We are active in county-wide law enforcement efforts by participating in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, Avoid the 23 (DUI) Task Force, Narcotic Task Force Details, Alcohol Beverage Control Operations, Office of Traffic Safety grants and as Police Academy Training Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.

Candidates must be a US Citizen, at least 21 years of age on date of appointment, a US high school graduate (or GED equivalent), have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.  Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, read, comprehend, write, and speak English effectively.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

DEFINITION

Under the direction of the Transit Manager, the Transit Analyst II is responsible for carrying out a variety of analytical and technical assignments; and working on administrative and operational activities, analysis and special projects in support of Union City’s transit programs and services.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is the experienced-level class in the Transit Division. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves various tasks including, but not limited to, scenario planning, performance-based planning, financial forecasting, regional policy research and analysis, transportation demand management, general analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City. Incumbents in this class perform advanced analytical work while following City and departmental policies while exercising the performance of more complex duties. The Transit Analyst II has general knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning. The Transit Analyst II is distinguished from the Transit Analyst I in that it is the full journey-level, professional class in the division and works more independently.

• Use, review, and recommend web-based programs designed to provide information to the Computer Assisted Dispatch and Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) systems used to track vehicles and provide information to the region’s 511 system, provide service planning, and can generate the required versions of the general transit feed services by the region and state.
• Researching and responding to public complaints and inquiries; participating in the design and implementation of administrative procedures.

• Review menu provided by caterer, submit nutritional component breakdown to County for grant compliance, and prepare flyers for patron.
• Submit documentation/information associated with County nutrition grant to supervisor.
• Schedule and implement nutritional education for seniors and in-service training for staff and volunteers.
• Serve as liaison with caterer, grant provider and staff/volunteers.
• Implement food safety practices as outlined by the Health Department.
• Prior nutrition experience is desired, but not required. Training will be provided.
