GENERAL INFO 

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.  
 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment. 

• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas. 

• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms. 

• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements. 

• Perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure facility safety and upkeep.

CAMP COUNSELOR LEAD (Illustrative purposes only) 

• Oversee and guide program staff in their daily duties, ensuring high standards of supervision, engagement, and participant safety. 
• Assist in planning, organizing, and scheduling program activities to create a balanced and enjoyable experience.
• Address behavioral issues and manage group dynamics and foster a positive environment for participants and staff.
• Enforce safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and monitor the physical and emotional well-being of all participants. 
• Serve as a liaison between camp counselors/program staff, families, and City Staff, addressing concerns and maintaining effective communication. 
• Oversee staff tasks, support logistical operations, and ensure adherence to camp policies, health, and safety regulations.
• Model positive behavior, establish rapport with families, and maintain accurate program records. 
• Mediate participant disputes, assist camp counselors/program staff with behavior management, and provide ongoing support and assistance to staff, participants, and volunteers. 
• Communicate program updates and recommend improvements for materials and equipment.
• Ensure familiarity with and readiness for all emergency procedures and other tasks as directed by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Greet patrons, answer and direct calls, and provide information on programs, rentals, schedules, rules, and policies. 
• Open/close the facility and monitor for safety, cleanliness, and proper use. 
• Check daily facility schedules and rental setup requirements.
• Use computer systems for data entry.
• Assist patrons with registration processing and POS transactions.
• Handle office tasks including mail distribution, shipments, and deliveries.
• Support office inventory management for supplies and equipment.
• Assist facility attendants and recreation programs as needed.

Description

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a high-performing Senior Planner to lead complex development and long-range planning initiatives in one of Southern California’s most desirable communities. This position plays a key role in sharing residential, mixed-use, commercial, and downtown revitalization projects while advancing the City’s General Plan and environmental review efforts.   

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative individual to conduct a variety of planning duties with competence and professionalism. The Senior Planner must be an excellent team player with a track record of excellent judgement who has demonstrated initiative and been successful in improving processes.

The Senior Planner will assume a lead role in complex planning and development projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional proposals, and may assist in the preparation of environmental documents (both internally and through planning consultants).  The Senior Planner may also process legislative applications, such as zone changes and General Plan amendments, and occasionally assist with open space planning/natural resource management projects.

The Position

The Planning Intern will support the Community Development Department - Planning Division with research-based projects and assist staff with minor permit review. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in municipal planning, exposure to development review processes, and an understanding of how planning policies are implemented at the local level. The intern will work closely with planning staff and gain practical insight into zoning, land use regulations, and public-sector planning operations.

Duties: The primary projects will most likely include the following:

•    Conduct research related to land use planning, zoning regulations, and special planning initiatives

We offer 3 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 year olds), Cottage Kids (3 year olds), and Afternoon Owls (3 year olds).  The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. Village Park Preschool programs strive to create an environment inspiring each child’s individual creativity and self-expression. Children participate in arts/crafts, music, body movement, basic science, cognitive games, creative/dramatic play, cooking, circle and story time, fine and gross motor skill building, and phonics awareness.

Preschool Teacher

The City of Burlingame is looking for an energetic, caring, creative, and responsible Preschool Teacher. Under direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Teacher plans, schedules, and organizes preschool classes for the City’s Village Park Preschool program, assures policies and procedures are maintained, and performs related work as required.

Essential Duties

• Plan, organize, and implement activities that support early childhood education and socialization
• Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time
• Ensure proper safety precautions are observed
• Maintain and care for supplies, equipment, and the facility
• Report any supply requests and facility maintenance needs
• Set up daily snack, change diapers and support toilet training
• Help with preparation of monthly newsletter
• Complete assigned paperwork, including timecards and incident and accident reports
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff to disseminate information and build positive relationships
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood education principles, curriculum development, and best practices.
• Completion of 24 units of Early Childhood Education.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in a preschool or childcare setting is preferred.
