The County of Yuba is recruiting for both Extra-Help and Full-Time Juvenile Corrections Officers I/II, in an effort to fill current vacancies and expand staffing levels. These positions are located on the Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus which falls under the Juvenile Institutions Division of the Yuba County Probation Department.  The primary responsibilities of this flexibly staffed position are to: provide care, custody, supervision, and control of youth housed in the secured detention facilities while they are pending legal action or serving a post adjudication commitment; ensure and sustain a safe and secure environment for youth; and coordinate counseling and behavior modification activities associated with the operation of the facilities.

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Department believes people can change and we can be instrumental in supporting that change.  We are  a small workplace family that supports one another to accomplish our mission and allow our team members to live full lives outside the workplace. Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. Our Department is the administrative agency responsible for the management and daily operation of the facility. The shared goal of facility staff is to provide youth with support and tools that will assist them with successfully reintegrating back into the community.  Staff are provided with state mandated relevant training, which includes youth trauma; crisis management; cultural competence; mental health awareness; sexual abuse and harassment; and proper use of force.

The Extra Help Employee - Clinical Nurse position will be housed with the Health and Human Services Agency in the Behavioral Health division. This is a journey-level technical classification. Positions at this level work independently while exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This position is scheduled for up to twenty fine (25) hours per week.

JOB DUTIES

• Conducts immunization and flu vaccination clinics for children and adults on-site and in community settings.
• Participates in program outreach and public information / publicity activities.
• Performs general office work as required, including but not limited to copying and filing documents, preparing/typing documents, answering the telephone, faxing information, entering computer data, attending meetings, ordering supplies, maintaining office cleanliness, etc.
• Prepares required reports and records with accuracy and in a timely manner.

The County of Yuba is recruiting for the position of Social Worker III/III Master’s Level in the Child and Adult Protective Services Division of the Health & Human Services Department in an effort to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Under general supervision, incumbents are fully competent to independently perform the most complex and sensitive social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; identify, access and document abuse and neglect cases; provide counseling and support services to children and parents; refer clients to services; prepare detailed, complex court documents and testify in court as required; and perform related work as assigned. POSITION SUMMARY

This is a broad classification with individual positions assigned to specific functional areas; duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department and staffing levels.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Account Clerk I - This is the entry-level class in the Account Clerk series performing the more routine and less complex clerical accounting support and customer service assignments while learning City policies and procedures. Positions at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of program knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Account Clerk II level and exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. This classification is flexibly staffed with Account Clerk II. Advancement to the “II” level is based on demonstrated proficiency in performing the assigned functions and is at the discretion of higher level supervisory or management staff.

Account Clerk II - This is the full journey level class within the Account Clerk series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Account Clerk I by the performance of the full range of clerical accounting support duties as assigned including performing the full scope of clerical financial record keeping transactions, customer service functions, and related support duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class series are flexibly staffed and are generally filled by advancement from the “I” level, or when filled from the outside, require prior experience. Advancement to the “II” level is based on management judgment and/or certification or testing that validates the performance of the full range of job duties. This classification is distinguished from the Senior Account Clerk in that the latter is responsible for the more complex and difficult technical duties within the area of assignment and may provide lead direction to other Account Clerk positions.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. Summary Description

Under immediate supervision (Water Distribution Operator I) or general supervision (Water Distribution Operator II), performs skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work on the potable water treatment and distribution system of the water utilities services division; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to water distribution and treatment.

Water Distribution Operator I: This is the entry level class in the Water Distribution Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Water Distribution Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to City established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or indirectly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Water Distribution Operator II: This is the full journey level class within the Water Distribution Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Water Distribution Operator I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from level I.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior GIS Technician in the Community Development & Services Agency. This position provides lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; performs a variety of technical office and field work duties that require specialized knowledge related to the creation and maintenance of maps, tables, graphs, and other geographic source data with the use of enterprise GIS, permitting, and asset management systems; provides technical support and queried data to department staff, other County departments, outside agencies, consultants, contractors, developers, and the public; and performs related work as assigned.

This position is the advanced journey lead/specialist level position that reports directly to the Public Works Director.

Examples of Duties:

• Provide direction and guidance as a lead worker regarding data collection and GIS utilization; may review the work of technical staff assigned to a variety of GIS duties; assist supervisor with training program and identifying training needs; provide staff training in the use of and applications of GIS information.

Detective Assignment

• Serve on assigned taskforce including gang or drug taskforce; gather knowledge about individuals or groups who are involved in criminal activity in order to understand how they function, describe their current activities, forecast future action they may undertake, and provide intelligence and resources that will eradicate criminal activity; coordinate and participate in multi-jurisdictional intelligence gathering and suppression operations;
• Receive, review, and analyze reports and case information on law enforcement activities requiring special and detailed investigations;
• Coordinate and conduct complete and detailed investigations of crimes involving juveniles and adults, crimes against persons and property including child and elder abuse claims, homicides, rape and assaults with deadly weapons, and crimes involving vice, gaming, and narcotics violations; follow cases from reporting, to arrest, to prosecution;

PATTERN I – ACADEMY LEVEL

• Must be currently enrolled or attending POST certified basic law enforcement academy or have successfully completed a POST certified basic academy not more than three (3) years prior to the date of application.
• Must possess or be eligible to possess a Proof of Eligibility (POE) or certificate (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced) from California Peace Officer Standards and Training under SB 2.  Ineligibility or decertification from POST will automatically disqualify candidate from holding a peace officer classification.

PATTERN II –ENTRY/ADVANCED LEVEL

Education/Training:

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional college level course work and specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field is highly desirable. An Associates degree is highly desirable.

Experience:

• Some work experience as a California peace officer or other work experience that demonstrates a general aptitude for police work.

PATTERN III –LATERAL TRANSFER

• Successfully completed (at any time) a California POST certified basic law enforcement academy: AND
• Must be currently employed in a California law enforcement agency with at least one (1) year of full-time experience as a sworn peace officer with a California law enforcement agency, and be eligible for appointment as a Peace Officer under Section 830.1 PC; AND
• Must possess a basic POST certificate issued by California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training or other documentation to substantiate your eligibility.
• Must possess or be eligible to possess a Proof of Eligibility (POE) or certificate (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced) from California Peace Officer Standards and Training under SB 2.  Ineligibility or decertification from POST will automatically disqualify candidate from holding a peace officer classification.

In addition to either Pattern I, II or III:

License or Certificate:

• Graduate from high school or passage of high school level General Education Development (GED) test: AND
• Possess and maintain an appropriate, valid driver’s license; AND
• Not less than 21 years of age at time of appointment; AND

Lathrop Police Department

Newly hired Police Officers will be enthusiastic and compassionate individuals committed to community policing and dedicated to addressing the needs of the community.  Under general supervision, performs law enforcement and crime prevention tasks and duties related to the protection of public health, safety, and welfare; patrols an assigned area to ensure the enforcement of all applicable federal, state, and local laws; performs investigative work; and performs additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be graduation from high school or equivalent and successful completion of a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified Police Academy. College-level coursework and specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field are highly desirable.

Additional Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age; must successfully complete a comprehensive P.O.S.T. background investigation, physical examination, drug testing, and psychological evaluation; must be legally authorized to work in the United States by federal law at the time of appointment and meet all California State Minimum Selection Standards set forth by P.O.S.T. and California law.

License/Certificate:

• Possession of a valid California P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate or valid California P.O.S.T Basic Course Waiver at the time of application.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid CPR certification.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher, prior to the date of appointment.
