The Plant/Pipeline Mechanical Technician II will perform maintenance and repair functions on industrial equipment used in water treatment, recycled water, water purification plants, pumping stations, and hydroelectric plants. This position will also work on related mechanical equipment components used for water treatment, storage, distribution, and flood control. They will be required to perform maintenance and repair duties on water conduits and equipment. As well as performing a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position will be assigned to work at one of Valley Water’s three water treatment plants in Santa Clara County and can be assigned to work rotating on-call weekends after approximately 1-2 years.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on domestic treated water, recycled water purification, pipeline systems; maintain water conduits and equipment including vacuum breakers, air releases, and water valves; perform confined space related duties.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications; estimate labor and materials for proposed work, perform work in accordance with these documents; make preliminary sketches of work to be performed or completed; locate, examine, clarify, identify, record and mark locations of creeks, pipelines, telemetry, test cables, and underground cables. 
• Diagnose mechanical problems; recommend preventative or corrective repair; make estimates of labor, materials, and supplies required to complete assigned work; request required materials.
• Maintain records of work performed; enter and retrieve data from a Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS); ensure proper completion of reports including confined entry documentation.
• Operate a variety of hand tools and power equipment including welding equipment, lathes, drill presses, sanders, trucks, forklifts, boom lift, scissor lifts, and overhead cranes.

Ideal Experience:

One (1) year of post-apprenticeship experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment and components. In lieu of completing an apprenticeship, a candidate should possess four (4) years of journey-level experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment and components.

• Operate a variety of mechanical maintenance equipment.
• Read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Procedures to maintain records of work performed.
• Diagnose operational problems in mechanical equipment and recommend corrective action.
• Perform the most complex maintenance and repair functions on District water treatment and distribution systems.
• Perform mechanical maintenance on pipelines, equipment in pumping stations, hydroelectric plants, and water treatment plants.
• Estimate labor and materials required to correct mechanical problems.
• Prepare clear and concise reports.
• Use common desktop applications and software.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Methods and techniques involved in the maintenance and repair of water treatment and distribution and systems including pumps, valves, gauges, and chemical feeds.
• Operations, services, and activities of a mechanical maintenance program.

• Operational methods and techniques associated with water treatment process.
• Occupational hazards and standard safety practices including Cal OSHA practices.

Ideal Training and Education:

Must have equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Required License or Certificate:

Treatment Plant Maintenance Unit (Position Code 235)
Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to work within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

About the Position:  The Farm Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and construction tasks at Deer Hollow Farm in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Deer Hollow Farm is an educational, working farm with cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and other livestock.  Duties include performing maintenance and construction tasks using hand and power tools, operating and maintaining Farm vehicles, and assisting with daily Farm operations. The Farm Maintenance Worker will also assist with basic support and care of animals; greet visitors and provide information to the public; and work with volunteers on farm-related projects. Working Conditions:

This full-time position is part of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department and assigned to Deer Hollow Farm.  In addition, this position may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. There may be an option to be on a 9/80 schedule after an initial training period.

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in facilities management, construction project management, or a related field, and three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of farm properties and related facilities.

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within six (6) months of employment.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders

This recruitment is for Fall Events and Activities such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, and other fun classes, activities, and events. The ideal candidate will be available Monday through Thursday for at least one evening shift per week August 18th through October 30th.

The City of Sausalito is recruiting for part-time temporary help for the fall season of recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.  

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people.

The City of San Jose has 969 signalized intersections and over 65,000 streetlights and the supporting infrastructure assets.

The Electrician Traffic Signals Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for:

 

• The electrician supervisor for Traffic signals supervises electricians and other maintenance staff 

• Responsible for the in-house on call program 24/7/365 involving electricians, maintenance staff as well as contractors.

• Ensures the work being performed Meets all CSJ standards as well as safety standards for traffic signals.

• Responsible for working with our partners in DOT including Signal Operations, Signal Design and our ITS team to replace, upgrade and modify existing intersections and bring new intersections online.

• Coordinates with other departments for other related work, communication systems, fiber network, speed radar signs, wireless communication systems and other related work to do with the city communication systems.

• Tracks budget and works with analysts to ensure accurate spending records are maintained as well as accurate tracking of contractor costs.

• Maintains the correct inventory of all needed equipment and supplies on hand to ensure all repairs throughout the city can be made in an efficient manner

• Maintains the required response time by staff for trouble calls that come in for signals not operating properly and all other associated trouble calls.

• Incumbents regularly work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment.

• The Position in this classification will rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned electrical operation/program area.

• Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver services.

• Ensure all the performance measures and other reporting categories are maintained accurately and consistently.

 

The Electrician Streetlight Supervisor is responsible for:

 

• Supervises electricians and other maintenance staff in maintenance of over 65,000 streetlights and the supporting infrastructure assets.

• Ensures the work being produced meets CSJ mandated standards and specifications.

• Plans, schedules, and evaluates work performed by assigned staff.

• Tracks maintenance budgets and works with analysts to ensure accurate financial records are kept.

• Coordinates and implements work orders, as well as works with IT to implement updates to programs and applications.

• Incumbents regularly work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment.

• Positions in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned electrical operation/program area.

• Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver services.

• Responsible for ensuring all the performance measures and other reporting categories are maintained accurately and consistently.

• The incumbent must also be comfortable interacting with the general public to provide updates on service requests and update to senior staff.

• This position requires high constructive energy and excellent communication, to ensure that the requests are understood and there are solutions to solve the problem.

• Must be able to direct contractors for needed work for on call, stolen wire installing traffic signal poles as well as streetlighting poles involved in accidents.

• Maintains correct amount of inventory for all supplies related to streetlights.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education: Completion of an approved apprenticeship program

 

Experience: 2 years of lead electrician experience as a journey level Electrician.

 

Acceptable Substitution: Documented proof of completion of 8,500 hours of both course work and experience in all of the areas covered in the State of California Electrician Apprenticeship Standards may be substituted for completion of a recognized Electrician Apprenticeship program. These areas include residential wiring, commercial and industrial wiring, intercom and signals, controls, underground work, trouble shooting, finishing and fixture hanging, solid state controls, and stock and inventory. Completion of the State of California Electrician Certification exam will be accepted as proof of completion of 8,500 hours of electrical work experience.

Certifications/Licenses: Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license.

Working Environment and Schedule:  Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule which will be divided between onsite work, at home remote work, some outdoor work, some local travel, and occasional travel to Sacramento. When government affairs-related events are scheduled, the Government Affairs Specialist may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Outdoor work could include driving off-road (training provided) and hiking on trails in temperatures ranging from cold and blustery to hot and dry. Under direction, the Deputy City Clerk provides complex administrative and organizational support for all functions and activities of the City Clerk’s Office, including the duties necessary to ensure the custody and maintenance of official City documents, public and archival records and files, and public information. Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill an Information Systems Analyst (ISA) position within the Enterprise GIS (Geographic Information Systems) team.  

Salary range(s) for this classification is $137,089.68- $167,032.32 annually. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.  

The Enterprise GIS team operates out of the Department of Public Works but works across the city to coordinate GIS efforts, lead multi-departmental GIS projects, geospatially-enable City business systems, and administer Enterprise GIS infrastructure for citywide use. The city has standardized on a modern technology stack consisting of Windows Server, Esri ArcGIS platform, VertiGIS Studio, Safe Software FME, and SQL Server enterprise geodatabases. The city has an enterprise license agreement with Esri, and the Enterprise GIS team maintains a large Enterprise GIS server environment with public and internal-facing ArcGIS Server instances, complementary ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online organizations, an SDE environment featuring a data catalog with over 1,000 feature classes, and integrations with dozens of business systems.   

The ISA is a professional-level position in the IT professional management series and responsible for GIS system administration, database design, business system integration, application development, and implementation of large-scale enterprise projects. The position requires a GIS professional with broad technical experience as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. The ideal candidate must be a strong individual contributor that is able to take full ownership of projects, designing solutions in alignment with City Enterprise GIS standards and industry best practices and working at a hands-on level to build, implement, and support such solutions. The position also demands proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with limited resources. Advanced knowledge of the ArcGIS platform and experience with GIS server administration is required. Experience with VertiGIS Studio and GIS web application development in an Esri environment is highly desirable.   

The GIS ISA reports to the Enterprise GIS Manager. This position is responsible for programming that supports the development and maintenance of major applications used citywide.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:   

• Administer Enterprise GIS server environment (ArcGIS Enterprise, VertiGIS Studio, FME Server), including planning for and conducting system upgrades; applying and confirming patches; capacity planning and load testing; publishing and tuning services; managing backups; troubleshooting and resolving system issues; managing security policies, user accounts, roles, and permissions; and maintaining system documentation. 

• Meet with business owners and end users to gather and document requirements for GIS solutions. Design, build, and deploy mapping applications on the ArcGIS platform. Provide documentation, training, and support to end users.  

• Develop and maintain web mapping applications using VertiGIS Studio Web 5.x, including web map authoring, site configuration, and development of print templates, reports, and workflows.  

• Develop and maintain complex geoprocessing routines and ETL workbenches using FME and/or Python.  

• Conduct data modeling and design activities for new datasets by analyzing inputs and developing appropriate schemas in alignment with City standards. 

• Build and support GIS integrations with City business systems.  

• Lead large-scale, cross-department Enterprise GIS projects. Work collaboratively with departments to reduce program redundancies and support effective use of enterprise resources. Train end users on enterprise standards and best practices; provide development oversight and guidance. 

 

In addition, this position is part of a team responsible for providing GIS support in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated.
