ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Equipment Mechanic I/II.  The Equipment Mechanic works within the Equipment Services Section within the Public Works Department, and is responsible for making minor and major mechanical repairs to automotive, diesel and other power-driven equipment, performing routine maintenance and servicing, and performing specialized mechanical and fabrication work as required.  

Equipment Mechanic I:

This is the entry level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions in this class perform mechanical repair work of a routine to moderately complex nature, working under the guidance and training of more experienced mechanics.

Equipment Mechanic II:

This is the full journey level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions assigned to this class perform the full range of journey level automotive and equipment maintenance work typically assigned to Equipment Mechanics. In addition, an Equipment Mechanic II assumes responsibility for providing training for Equipment Mechanic I’s and regularly performs the most complex maintenance and repair work in the shop.

The Position

The Community Services Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of direct coordination and supervision of one or more significant program areas within one of the Community Services Division’s major program Sections, and for assisting the Community Services Section Manager with the overall direction and supervision of the Section. Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate subordinate personnel and volunteers
• Coordinate, promote, implement and evaluate recreation and human services activities as assigned
• Organize and schedule Citywide activities in assigned area of responsibility
• Prepare events’ publicity, including flyers and news releases
• Maintain close contact with school officials, community groups and citizens regarding program implementation
• Perform a variety of office related functions, including the processing of payroll data, registration fees, activity reports, and related records
• Assist in preparing and administering the program budget
• Coordinate and supervise contracts for specialized contractual services
• Participate in teaching recreation classes
• Organize, coordinate, and encourage the formation of clubs, teams, leagues, special events, and specialized programs and services
• Arrange for, and schedule, facilities, transportation, and appropriate activity supervision
• Direct facility operations, including responsibility for the use and maintenance of the facilities.

The Community Services Supervisor receives general supervision from the Community Services Section Manager or other higher level department personnel and exercises direct supervision over full-time and part-time employees, volunteers, clerical, and custodial personnel.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Senior Civil Engineer.  The Senior Civil Engineer performs complicated engineering, planning, design, and review activities and exercises lead supervision over others as assigned.  The work, projects, and systems assigned may involve managements of park field and facilities improvements, building facilities improvements, land development reviews & approvals, right-of-way permit process, roads and utilities improvements, transportation & traffic planning and improvements, and/or building construction. ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The Department of Community Development is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Management Fellow. Designed to attract top talent from graduate schools to commit to meaningful and value-driven work in local government, the Management Fellowship program creates a channel into future leadership opportunities within local government. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Community Development Department is seeking a value-driven team player to join the Department. Through mentorship and under general supervision, the Fellow will assist in coordinating and managing specific projects to completion in the areas of budgeting, planning, community engagement, procurement, and legislative policy, especially related to the Planning and Building Divisions in Community Development.

Some of the various projects and responsibilities may include:

• Performing policy research and analysis, identifying relevant legislation, and developing recommendation positions as related to Planning and Building policy
• Assisting with the City’s budget process
• Program and Performance Management analysis towards the goal of identifying efficiencies
• Statistical analysis of data; and preparing findings and/or recommendations to the supervising Management Analyst

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a valid State of California driver’s license and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This position requires the ability to work independently while receiving direction from a supervisor, as well as the capacity to train, oversee, and collaborate effectively with volunteers and older adults. Strong attention to detail is essential, including the ability to maintain accurate records and submit documentation as required. Proficiency with computers, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. Upon hire, the candidate must successfully obtain a State Food Handler Safety Certificate and pass all required background checks. A bilingual pay differential may be available for candidates fluent in identified languages.  Must be available Monday-Friday 10:00am-2:00pm.

Recreation Program Specialist Example Duties:

• Follow reservation protocol/procedure for patrons.
• Review menu provided by caterer, submit nutritional component breakdown to County for grant compliance, and prepare flyers for patron.
• Submit documentation/information associated with County nutrition grant to supervisor.
• Schedule and implement nutritional education for seniors and in-service training for staff and volunteers.
• Serve as liaison with caterer, grant provider and staff/volunteers.
• Implement food safety practices as outlined by the Health Department.
• Prior nutrition experience is desired, but not required. Training will be provided.

As a member of the Administrative Services team, the incumbent will plan, develop and implement activities related to the support, deployment, operation and usage of the City’s geographic information system (GIS). This position will coordinate projects related to management of interfaces, applications setup, business process review and customization and provide complex and responsible technical and analytical support to the Information Technology Manager in areas of expertise.

DEFINITION
Under general direction, performs complex and responsible technical and clerical work for the Director of Human Resources and as administrative support to the City's Human Resources Department. Completes related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An incumbent in this position is a Human Resources generalist performing a wide range of personnel assignments in administering and processing health and welfare benefits; managing the administrative duties associated with the Personnel Board and overseeing the preparation and management of all employee requisition and action forms; managing the office and providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, the Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s).

Provides support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s). Administers the documentation requirements of the 1986 Immigration and Control Act. Prepares and processes required Human Resources’ forms, such as new employee forms and employee Action Forms. Assists with preparation and publication of the employee newsletter. Maintains and orders office supplies and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Library Information Technology Technician is distinguished from the Information Technology Analyst series in that the latter supports the following: computer systems for various departments’ citywide, data center operations, complex networking equipment, telephony and WAN technologies.  This class is further distinguished from the Library Systems Coordinator class in the latter is responsible for overall coordination of activities related to the library’s information system.

This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy helping others, solving technical challenges, and contributing to a welcoming and information-rich community space.

Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Install, configure, upgrade and repair hardware, software, and networked equipment including modems, printers, scanners, kiosks, etc.
• Diagnose, trouble shoot and resolve complex problems with personal computers, printers, servers, software, and related equipment.

• Image and roll out new workstations.
