THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Water Resources Division Manager, this position serves as the Chief Plant Operator of the City’s Water Reclamation Plant (wastewater treatment). The selected candidate will plan, organize, direct and manage the operation of the Water Reclamation Plant including wastewater treatment and recycled water production. They will coordinate activities with other sections/divisions/departments, external customers, regional wastewater agencies, and contractors. This position will ensure that all regulatory compliance targets are met and act as a liaison to regulatory agencies. This position requires a valid Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board at the time of appointment.

 

Position Responsibilities:

• Serves as the Chief Plant Operator for the Water Reclamation Plant
• Recommends and implements section goals and objectives
• Implements goals and objectives set by the Division Manager
• Coordinates the execution and process impacts of capital improvement projects with project managers, consultants and contractors
• Establishes performance standards, guidelines, and methods
• Develops, implements, and administers current and new programs and policies
• Sets overall process-control parameters for the wastewater treatment and water recycling facility
• Develops standard operating procedures and trains staff in order to ensure compliance with State and Federal wastewater and recycled water regulations
• Reviews and interprets operational data to effectively and quickly identify, diagnose, and correct problems with the wastewater treatment process

The City of Pleasant Hill is currently seeking applicants for Police Officer Trainee. The Trainee position is a non-sworn, entry-level position. As a Trainee, you will be assigned to attend an upcoming POST-approved Police Academy. Police Officer Trainee Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Participate in and complete a prescribed law enforcement officer training program for entry level police officers, including training in report writing, laws of arrest and seizure, defensive driving, California Vehicle and Penal Codes, officer survival and physical fitness.
• Prior to entering the law enforcement academy training program, perform a wide variety of police support duties which may include dispatching and records, duties acting as desk officer and/or assisting in planning and research activities.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

• Observe accurately and remember names, faces, numbers, incidents and places.
• Learn to use and property care for firearms.
• Think and act quickly in emergencies, and judge situations and people accurately.
• Learn, understand, interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Prepare clear, accurate and grammatically correct written reports.

Ability to
 

• Successfully complete a training program for entry level Police Officer.
• Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contact in the course of work.

• Meet the requirements for Police Officer contained in the California State Government Code.

Experience & Education: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• Experience: None required, although previous experience in law enforcement is desirable.
• Education:  High school diploma and 60 units of college-level course work. Candidates with an honorable discharge may be credited with up to 15 semester units for a minimum of 3 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from college or university with a Master's degree in Library Sciences and three (3) years of experience as a professional librarian. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

Other requirements include the ability to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program's needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record is required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

In addition to qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have lead or supervisory experience.

The Housing Authority is seeking a team-oriented candidate to plan and manage the asset management function of the Housing Authority’s real estate portfolio including the housing assets owned by AHA’s affiliates. The Senior Asset Manager conducts financial, physical and regulatory performance review; develops and monitors capital needs assessment programs; and reviews, recommends and implements financing or refinancing schemes at multi-family and tax credit properties, in addition to providing highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Directors of, Housing Development and Property Operations. The Senior Asset Manager may supervise one or more junior staff.

Definition

To attend a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) approved Police Basic Recruit Academy and successfully complete the academic and physical training required for appointment to the classification of Police Officer.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is a trainee level classification which provides transition into the position of Police Officer. Police Officer Trainees are hired into this civilian position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST certified police academy. Upon successful completion of training at an academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer Recruit II position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer Recruit II.

Supervision Received

Receives close supervision and evaluation on a daily basis by academy staff. Limited supervision by department training supervisor and/or manager during regular academy visits.

The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) is seeking an exceptional, process-orientated professional to serve as the Director of Housing Programs to assist with planning, organizing, managing, and providing administrative direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the Housing Programs Department which administers the various assistance programs the AHA operates. Key Responsibilities
