Qualifications:

This position requires the ability to work independently while receiving direction from a supervisor, as well as the capacity to train, oversee, and collaborate effectively with volunteers and older adults. Strong attention to detail is essential, including the ability to maintain accurate records and submit documentation as required. Proficiency with computers, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. Upon hire, the candidate must successfully obtain a State Food Handler Safety Certificate and pass all required background checks. A bilingual pay differential may be available for candidates fluent in identified languages.  Must be available Monday-Friday 10:00am-2:00pm.

Recreation Program Specialist Example Duties:

• Follow reservation protocol/procedure for patrons.
• Review menu provided by caterer, submit nutritional component breakdown to County for grant compliance, and prepare flyers for patron.
• Submit documentation/information associated with County nutrition grant to supervisor.
• Schedule and implement nutritional education for seniors and in-service training for staff and volunteers.
• Serve as liaison with caterer, grant provider and staff/volunteers.
• Implement food safety practices as outlined by the Health Department.
• Prior nutrition experience is desired, but not required. Training will be provided.

DEFINITION
Under general direction, performs complex and responsible technical and clerical work for the Director of Human Resources and as administrative support to the City's Human Resources Department. Completes related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An incumbent in this position is a Human Resources generalist performing a wide range of personnel assignments in administering and processing health and welfare benefits; managing the administrative duties associated with the Personnel Board and overseeing the preparation and management of all employee requisition and action forms; managing the office and providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, the Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s).

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Including but not limited to maintaining frequent, sensitive and critical contacts with public and private agencies, other departments, professionals and officials; transmits information, decisions and directives. Administers Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Program, tracks employee driving records and issues quarterly department list of commercial drivers’ medical expirations. Provides support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s). Administers the documentation requirements of the 1986 Immigration and Control Act. Prepares and processes required Human Resources’ forms, such as new employee forms and employee Action Forms. Assists with preparation and publication of the employee newsletter. Maintains and orders office supplies and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Business Operations Coordinator (BOC) is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring efficient systems to manage the District’s business office, properties, entrepreneurial enterprises, service and vendor contracts, media management, and IT support services. This includes ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates, facility requirements, and workplace safety.

The BOC is a full-time exempt position that reports directly to the CEO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to ensure effective implementation and community impact.
   1. Coordinates District-sponsored and community outreach events—in both virtual and in-person formats—in collaboration with District leadership.
   2. Provides oversight of the District office operations to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, inventory and supplies management, document, and key security, tracking annual policy review and report filing requirements, and utilization of classroom facilities.
   3. Maintains a clean, well-organized office environment for team and visitors.
   4. Assists the Strategic Initiatives Director in managing the Community Health Investment portfolio, including utilizing and maintaining the District’s grant management software to track and support the community grants program.
   5. Oversees and manages district office operations and leasing budgets.
   6. Maintains IT services, triaging issues, tracking performance of various pieces of equipment, and helping identify IT issues that may benefit from more user training.
   7. Assists with accounting tasks as directed by CEO, including processing bank deposits and printing checks with Staff Accountant.
   8. Maintains a system for managing and regularly auditing vendor contracts to ensure compliance with performance obligations and identify opportunities for cost and service improvements.
   9. Contributes to the overall success of the District by providing support to programs and initiatives as assigned by the CEO.
2. Serving as primary PHCD contact for tenants, property manager, and vendors serving the eight District-owned properties This includes such activities as:
   1. Tracks lease terms and rent increases and taking timely, appropriate actions via Doorloop.
   2. Maintains effective tenant relationships with professionals and their staff.
   3. Establishes and carrying out a preventative maintenance program for all buildings in collaboration with the CFO and property manager.
   4. Primary liaison for facilities consultants
   5. Makes periodic rounds to ensure tenants are compliant with their property maintenance obligations.
   6. Works with leasing agent when a vacancy occurs.
3. Overseeing and strengthening all District communication channels, ensuring consistency, compliance, and effective public engagement.
   1. Manages all District websites are compliant with regulatory and special district transparency requirements, content is current, and sites are “user-friendly”
   2. Serves as primary liaison with the District’s communications and website professionals
   3. Serves as primary point person for coordinating, producing, and tracking analytics of external communications for websites, e-newsletter, social media, and related materials, in collaboration with the CEO, Directors, and District communications and marketing professionals.
4. In the absence of the Executive Assistant:
   1. Provides administrative support to Board Members, Board Committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing noticed meeting materials, and coordinating meeting logistics.
   2. Supports the CEO and Board with daily calendar management, communications, event and conference bookings, annual board policy review, staff meetings, and District transparency recertifications.
5. And all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience supporting administrative staff
• Working for or with government/public agencies in California (preferred, not required)
• Experience with a range of standard office equipment
• Experience with technology modalities, including setting up of devices and light technology troubleshooting
• Excellent experience with PC/ including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Google
• Suite, Adobe Pro, WordPress, BoardDocs, Mailchimp, and virtual teleconferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, Google)

COMPENSATION & BENEFIT S
This is a full-time position. Compensation range based on experience: $55,000 - $85,000.
DOE. In addition, Peninsula Health Care District benefits include: CalPers Pension, CalPers

The San Mateo County Public Works Department is seeking an experienced Road Maintenance Manager with increasingly responsible experience in supervising the work of road maintenance or road construction crews. The Road Maintenance Manager plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises, through subordinate supervisors, the activities of several crews involved in the maintenance, repair and construction of County roads in an assigned area; and performs a variety of technical tasks related to assigned areas of responsibility.

The Road Maintenance Division of County of San Mateo's Department of Public Works is responsible for routine and emergency repairs to over 315 miles of road surfaces, culverts, shoulders, drainage facilities, and roadside vegetation on roads within the public right-of-way of San Mateo County's unincorporated districts. There are multiple vacancies to be filled throughout the department. 

The position is located at the Grant Corporation Yard, 752 Chestnut Street in Redwood City and will oversee either the Bayside maintenance crews or the Coastside maintenance crews.

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, organize, direct and supervise road maintenance and construction activities for an assigned area of responsibility.
• Review work orders and schedule personnel and equipment in accordance with job requirements.
• Investigate complaints of road and drainage conditions and direct repairs as necessary.
• Inspect and review work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with specifications and safety codes.
• Train maintenance personnel in proper methods of road, bridge, and drainage repair and construction and installation of traffic control devices.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Possession and maintenance of a valid California Class A Commercial Driver License with tank vehicle endorsement.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible experience which includes supervising the work of crews engaged in road maintenance or road construction work.

Knowledge of:

• Methods and materials used in the maintenance, repair, construction and installation of roads, culverts, bridges, storm drains and traffic control devices.
• Operation, maintenance, capacities and limitations of road construction maintenance equipment.
• Use of standard hand and power tools.
• Standard carpentry and construction techniques.
• Methods of patching, surfacing, and resurfacing roads with bituminous materials.

Recreation Leader I/II
The City of Foster City is searching for talented, energetic, responsible individuals who are serious about having fun! If you can think on your feet and be a fun team player, this could be the position for you! As a Recreation Leader, you’ll be responsible for implementing quality youth and teen programs and providing a safe environment for our participants. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-benefited position limited to approximately 20 hours per week and 980 hours in a fiscal year. Level of position will be determined based on the experience (see Education and Training Guidelines). 

Summer Camps
Candidates must commit to working for the entire Summer (June 15, 2026 - August 8, 2026). There will also be a mandatory training for all new and returning staff on June 8, 2026 through June 12, 2026. Work hours will vary between 7:45am – 6:00pm depending on the camp, Monday through Friday. No weekends shifts are available.

The Vibe Teen Center
We are looking for Recreation Leaders to assist with supervision, lead recreational activities, supervise rentals, and plan special events for teens. This position will start in June and Recreation Leaders must be able to work on a Friday or work a weekend shift each week. Work hours will vary, but typically will be from:

School Year Schedule: Positions are limited.

• Monday - Thursday 3:00pm-6:00pm

Recreation Leader I: Completion of eighth grade. No previous experience required. Volunteer or paid experience with groups of children is desirable.

Recreation Leader II: Completion of the ninth grade. Experience as a participant in a variety of recreation activities. Some experience in group leadership is desirable.

Special Requirements 
Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 25 lbs.); complete forms and reports; ability to set-up and coordinate activities; remain calm and use good judgment in difficult and emergency situations; work flexible hours. Physical strength and stamina will be required in some positions to perform demonstrations and leads activities. 

Licenses, Certificates, Registration 

• Certificates: American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Course or equivalent (including adult, child infant CPR, and Standard First Aid) or ability to obtain at the beginning of employment.
• All successful candidates under age 18 must possess a work permit prior to hire.

Selection Process

The City of Menlo Park is hiring Recreation Specialists to support City-operated Summer Camp programs serving children ages 4.5 through 13 years old for programs running June 15th through August 14th, 2026.

Under general supervision, Recreation Specialists provide direct supervision of participants and assist with age-appropriate recreational, enrichment, and physical activities in compliance with California Community Care Licensing (Title 22) requirements and City policies. This position requires active engagement with children, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to maintain required staff-to-child ratios.

This is an hourly, at-will, part-time (non-benefited) position offering paid training and valuable experience in youth development and public service.
 
Schedule

• Part to Full-day summer camp shifts
• Up to 8.5 hours per day, including a 30-minute unpaid meal period

The Vehicle and Equipment Manager, under the direction of the Road Services Deputy Director, plan, organize, direct, coordinate and evaluate the activities and operations of the Vehicle and Equipment Services section of the Public Works Department, including all aspects of automotive and equipment operations, such as preventative maintenance programs, accounting and equipment management systems, and Capital Improvement plans related to plant renovations and fleet replacement; and perform related duties as assigned.

The Vehicle and Equipment Services Section maintains, inspects, services, and repairs County motor vehicles including school and other buses, trucks, equipment, Sheriff's Office vehicles, and motor pool vehicles. Our service and repair stations are located in Redwood City and San Mateo.

Examples Of Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, coordinate and direct the activities and operations of the section.
• Perform or supervise long range planning to anticipate and prepare for County needs related to vehicle and equipment use and related financing.
• Identify, prioritize and coordinate all Capital Improvement Projects for vehicle and equipment maintenance facilities; assign and review work of professional and technical staff.
• Develop, evaluate and implement policies, workflow procedures, standards, goals and objectives for assigned functions; install management improvements and practices.
• Prepare the section budget, project revenues and expenditures, monitor section fiscal activities, and establish rates and fees.
• Represent the Department to various user groups; conduct or attend a variety of committee, and staff related meetings; coordinate plans for projects and the provision of services; explain policies and answer questions.
• Prepare reports for executive review on the probable effects on the County of various projects, programs and legislation related to vehicle and equipment use proposed by local, regional and federal agencies.
• Coordinate the Vehicle and Equipment Services section activities with other divisions, departments and agencies.
• Participate in negotiations with grant agencies and regulatory bodies.
• Manage and participate in personnel actions for the section including selection, performance planning, discipline, training and development.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
 Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Experience: Four years of responsible administration of a fleet or equipment maintenance facility which includes writing specifications for equipment and vehicle acquisition.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of management including organizing work, long-term planning, delegation of authority and accountability.
• Principles and practices of municipal public works equipment and fleet operations to include working knowledge of repair, overhaul, assembly, modification and maintenance of vehicles, road equipment, pumps and generators.
• Administrative principles and practices including budget development and management, personnel management, systems management, contracting and procurement.
• Practices and procedures as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs policies and operational needs.
• Pertinent local, state and federal laws, rules, regulations and enforcement procedures.
• Principles and procedures of safety management as they relate to equipment and fleet operations and maintenance.

Skill/Ability to:

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of professional, supervisory, technical, and clerical staff.

The examination process will consist of an application screening (weight: pass/fail) based on the candidates' application and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%) which may include a performance exam. Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in County of San Mateo, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.
