The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a great part-time position for someone who attends school in the morning.  No weekend work required!

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Assist Director and Instructors in planning and implementing activities.
• Assist in the supervision of children at the child care center or on outings/trips.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and materials.

To respond to fire alarms, medical emergency, and other emergency activities in the protection of life and property; and to participate in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Fire Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose lines; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders.  Perform rescue operations in a variety of situations including but not limited to rescuing persons from areas threatened by fire, hazardous conditions, confined space, and active shooter/rescue task force events.  Provide basic life support during medical incidents, assessing and initiating patient care until relieved by proper medical personnel. Operate all types of portable fire extinguishers, hand tools, hose lines, power tools and appliances, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, emergency medical equipment and other rescue equipment. Participate in fire drills; serve as instructor as assigned; attend training sessions. Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Work cooperatively with others as integral part of a team.  Follow chain of command and be responsive to orders.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present and fit for duty.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to hazardous materials incidents and participate as member of the County Hazardous Materials Team. Shut down natural gas and electrical services to structure.  Participate in fire inspection activities and other fire prevention, community risk reduction, and public education activities as assigned.  Ensure that businesses are operating in compliance with the fire code. Participate in the programs providing various public relations services, including facility tours, public education seminars and other public events.  Respond to inquiries from the public.  Assist in investigating fire origin and cause.  May be requested to respond to emergencies during non-duty hours.  Control traffic.  Inventory supplies; maintain records. Can serve as “acting positions” when certified.  Clean station quarters and equipment and maintain a clean and orderly condition in and about the fire station; perform minor building maintenance.  Operate radio and communications equipment.  Assist in overhaul and salvage operations.  Learn a wide variety of firefighting duties, methods, and procedures including the operation of firefighting apparatus, equipment, and tools.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

High school diploma or equivalent.  College-level coursework in fire science, general management, or related field is desirable. Proof of completion of a Firefighter Academy may be required. 

Experience: 

Any experience that would likely provide the required ability is qualifying; firefighting experience is desirable.

 License or Certificate:

• Proof of valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (valid for one year from issuance date).
• Proof of validated written test completion given by recognized institution such as Fire Candidate Training Center (FCTC), the City of Woodland, or another accepted agency may be required.  

Required Upon Hire and Continued Employment:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
• Emergency Medical Technician Certificate
• Valid CPR certification.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders

This recruitment is for Fall Events and Activities such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, and other fun classes, activities, and events. Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Library and Recreation Department is comprised of two divisions, Library and Recreation & Childcare, that are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of San Rafael residents. The Department’s mission is to enrich the community through discovery, learning, and play, and strives to maximize the delivery of strategically aligned programs and services to provide the highest value for the community.

The Custodian position will primarily support the Recreation & Childcare Division.  The Division includes three community centers, five children's centers, one cultural center, an aquatics center, two community gardens, three ball fields, a multi-use  turf field, three community parks, 11 neighborhood parks, six pocket parks, and five special use parks.  The Recreation Division is responsible for developing innovative, diverse, and community-centered programs and services at the City's park and recreation facilities.

As part of the Engineering Services Division, Survey Section of the Public Works Department is responsible for delivering land surveying services on a variety of City projects including street widening/improvements, storm and sanitary facilities, library/community center/fire station sites, and airfield projects. These land surveying services include, but are not limited to the following:  topography, property acquisition, construction staking, pavement marking layout, and monument preservation. 

The Survey Section is currently recruiting to fill two (2) Instrument Person vacancies. An Instrument Person performs a variety of sub-professional surveying and engineering functions of moderate difficulty either on a survey crew in the field or in the Survey Section office. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Acts as instrument person on a survey party. 

• Records field notes and prepares maps and sketches from survey data. 

• Sets up, adjusts, and operates all types of survey instruments. 

• Provides lead direction and training to other survey personnel. 

• Uses modern, survey-grade Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. 

• Calculates grades and enters data into field books. 

• Turns angles and extends horizontal line using a total station. 

• Uses the level to obtain vertical control. 

• Uses the level, total station, rod, targets to perform topographic surveying in order to describe the existing features of a piece of land in order that it may be reproduced as a plan map. 

• Locates survey points by measurement, magnetometer and from maps of former surveys. 

• Assist with transferring electronic field data to a PC workstation, processing and interpreting the data, and checking for errors. 

• Assists with producing high-quality, computer-generated topography maps and tables using sophisticated engineering software. 

This is the journey level class in a four class surveying series. This class differs from the next higher class of Survey Party Chief in that incumbents of the latter perform sub-professional surveying work and are usually responsible for completing only a segment of a surveying program or project.

The City of Lincoln's Finance Department is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative individual to join our team as a Payroll Technician or Senior Payroll Technician, depending on qualifications and experience. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll practices, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service to employees and departments. • Payroll Technician:  $5,410.59 - $7,250.71

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, performs general and specialized payroll and accounting duties related to the preparation, issuance and maintenance of City-wide payroll and financial records and payroll system; reviews and reconciles a variety of payroll reports including payroll taxes, benefits reports, quarterly taxes, and PERS retirement contributions; to serve as liaison to departments and City personnel, researching and responding to questions related to payroll; and to prepare and submit a variety of payroll related reports; and performs related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Payroll Technician is the entry-level class within the Payroll Technician series; however, it operates at the journey level. Employees at this level are expected to perform the full range of routine to moderately complex payroll duties, requiring thorough knowledge of City payroll systems, policies, and departmental procedures. While Payroll Technicians operate independently in day-to-day payroll processing and compliance tasks, they are not typically responsible for interpreting complex regulations or acting as subject matter experts.

This classification is distinguished from the Senior Payroll Technician by the scope, complexity, and level of responsibility. Payroll Technicians work within established policies and procedures, while Senior Payroll Technicians lead the resolution of complex issues, interpret regulatory changes, and serve as technical specialists in the field.

The Senior Payroll Technician is a specialist-level classification responsible for the City’s payroll function. This class is distinguished from the Payroll Technician by the assignment, responsibility and performance as an experienced specialist in public sector payroll who can independently perform the duties and is expected to be the expert in the field. This work involves the interpretation and application of Federal, State and organizational rules, regulations and procedures requiring sustained, frequent, and intensive use of financial, statistical, and numerical data and information. The position requires a significant degree of knowledge, skill and experience in payroll functions and exercises a high degree of independent judgment and decision making.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives supervision/general supervision from the Accounting Manager and/or Finance Director. May exercise technical and functional supervision over staff acting as supporting payroll personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

Payroll Technician:

• Maintains the payroll system and employee pay records; posts and distributes time and attendance records, reviews, audits, and corrects time sheets; prepares paychecks; distributes paychecks and reports to various departments; prepares and files required reporting documents in an accurate and timely manner (including but not limited to quarterly reports and annual reporting of W-2s).
• Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable wage policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; maintains current knowledge of City, state and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and implements applicable provisions of MOUs.
• Prepares pay records for posting to the general ledger; reconciles payroll records to the general ledger; prepares payroll journal vouchers; prepares a variety of routine and special reports as necessary; reviews, reconciles, approves, and submits all vouchers for payment of payroll liabilities (may include tracking of COBRA insurance payments and receipts).
• Processes withholdings, deductions, wage garnishments or other special payroll actions, and changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments; submits PERS retirement reports each payroll; prepares payroll tax deposits; complete, verify, and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plans, and unemployment and medical insurance; reconciles payroll deductions withheld from employees to actual cost, including union dues, deferred compensation and credit union.
• Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies relative to the maintenance of payroll accounting controls; reviews wages computed and works with human resources to correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll; computes any corrections or retroactive pays; prepares manual checks when necessary; makes wage adjustments.
• Assists employees, benefit vendors, auditors and outside agencies with payroll questions and requests; works with management to address any legalities and payments regarding compensation concerns such as judgments, arbitrations, and/or court rulings; assists employees in the completion of payroll related forms; researches changes to wage and hour ordinances and recommends modifications to the payroll system for compliance purposes; researches and analyzes data regarding salaries and benefits for cost studies.
• May be assigned to perform a variety of accounts receivable and bookkeeping functions on a relief or support basis.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and personnel information contained in employee records or discussed with human resources and/or management.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies and associations, City management and staff, and the public.
• Interfaces with the Human Resources Department to assure proper and timely processing of employee related paperwork.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Senior Payroll Technician:

• Coordinate and perform a variety of specialized and detailed duties involving the processing and review of City-wide payroll; perform manual calculations as necessary, ensuring integrity and accuracy of data.
• Processes withholdings, deductions, union dues, wage garnishments or other special payroll actions and changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, disability insurance, health insurance coverage and loan payments.
• Balance and post payroll transactions to payroll ledgers and reconcile to accounting system; balance other financial, statistical and operational reports, statements and records.
• Ensure the accuracy of the City’s payroll; conduct detailed research and make corrections to calculations and payroll related reports.
• Analyze and reconcile payroll records; prepare, reconcile and submit a variety of bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll reports including but not limited to payroll taxes, GCC, ACA, W2’s, retirement, deferred compensation, payroll deductions, leave accruals and miscellaneous benefits.
• Reviews, reconciles, approves and submits all vouchers for payment of payroll liabilities including tracking of COBRA insurance payments and receipts. 
• Establish and maintain a variety of files for employee and payroll records; maintain records of payroll deductions; track and reconcile deductions.
• Determine schedules and timelines for payroll processes; post and distribute time and attendance records; review timesheets for accurate record-keeping; and preparation and submission of related reports.
• Test and implement payroll software system changes; consult with other City staff and outside vendors regarding software updates.
• Work with management to interpret and implement personnel rules, Memoranda of Understanding, federal and state regulations, CalPERS rules, and changes to reporting; explain rules and regulations regarding payroll.
• Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies relative to the maintenance of payroll accounting controls; review wages computed and work with human resources to correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll; computes any corrections or retroactive pays; prepares manual checks when necessary; makes wage adjustments.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and personnel information contained in employee records or discussed with human resources and management.
• May be assigned to perform a variety of accounts receivable and bookkeeping functions on a relief or support basis.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
