Key Responsibilities:

The City of Hayward is accepting applications for Police Officer--Lateral. Police Officers at the City of Hayward perform a wide variety of law enforcement assignments including but not limited to patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, and radio communication. Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION 

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: One (1) year in a law enforcement agency within the last thirty-six (36) months and possession of a current Basic California P.O.S.T Certificate.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (possession of an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desirable).

License
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

Necessary Special Qualifications: 

- Free of any felony convictions.

- A citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship (Government Code Para. 1031).

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Pool Service Technician for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for someone to perform a wide variety of duties related to maintaining the City’s Aquatics facilities, pools, water slides and property. Swimming experience is desired. Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an interview either in person, or via ZOOM. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

POLICE OFFICER

(ACADEMY GRADUATE / ACADEMY PARTICIPANT/ FTO)
 
Candidates must have successfully completed a California POST approved Basic Police Academy with a valid California POST Academy Certificate; OR Currently attending a POST approved Basic Police Academy and/or has been accepted to a POST approved Basic Police Academy.

The City of Hayward is accepting application for Police Officer--Academy Graduates and Academy Participants. Police Officers at the City of Hayward perform a wide variety of law enforcement assignments including but not limited to: patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, and radio communication. These require operating a patrol car or motorcycle, arresting and citing violators of laws, writing reports, serving warrants, testifying in court and providing information to the public.

Those candidates who are currently participating in the Police Academy would be hired as a Police Officer Trainee ($5,837-$6,125). The Police Officer Trainee is hired into a civilian position for the period of time they are assigned to the police academy. Upon successful completion of training at the academy, Trainees will then be sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer. Police Officer Trainee benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

DEFINITION 

Under general supervision, the Police Officer patrols the City's commercial, industrial, and residential districts; enforces laws and ordinances of the state of California and the city of Hayward, works closely with the community to preserve the peace and promote public safety; carefully documents own activities in written reports and statements; performs a wide variety of law enforcement assignments such as patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, radio communications, and administrative services; provides court testimony; investigates crimes such as burglary, robbery, assault, and disturbing the peace; assists firefighters and emergency medical technicians; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Swimming experience is required. Additional program training will be provided once hired. The Waterpark EMT is responsible for responding to emergencies and providing efficient and immediate care to the critically ill/injured at Adventure Waterpark. In addition, The EMT provides security services as needed. The EMT is expected to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Ability to open/maintain an airway, administer CPR, control hemorrhage, bandage wounds, immobilize extremities, administer oxygen, and other duties within the scope of practice
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrives
• Produce competent reports of incidents and injuries
• Provide public security services during the course of the day and for Admin at closing
• Uphold all rules and regulations of the Waterpark
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity while performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older
• Possess E.M.T. certification with experience in the field, and submit verification upon hire
• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with and toward others
• Possess good organizational skills and be able to multi-task
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
