DEFINITION:

The Music Instructor is responsible for providing quality music instruction to participants of varying skill levels in a positive and engaging environment. This position requires strong knowledge of music techniques and the ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet individual participants’ needs. The instructor will plan, prepare, and implement music lessons tailored to each participant’s abilities and goals, teaching music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques to individuals and groups. They will also prepare participants for performances or showcases as part of the program, select and acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources, and motivate participants to achieve continuous progress. In addition, the Music Instructor will communicate effectively with recreation staff and parents/caregivers regarding schedules, progress, and participant needs, assess participants’ abilities, provide constructive feedback, and maintain progress records. Delivering excellent customer service and representing the City in a professional and positive manner are essential aspects of this role. The ideal candidate will be patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment where participants can grow both musically and personally.

• Follow reservation protocol/procedure for patrons.
• Review menu provided by caterer, submit nutritional component breakdown to County for grant compliance, and prepare flyers for patron.
• Submit documentation/information associated with County nutrition grant to supervisor.
• Schedule and implement nutritional education for seniors and in-service training for staff and volunteers.
• Serve as liaison with caterer, grant provider and staff/volunteers.
• Implement food safety practices as outlined by the Health Department.
• Prior nutrition experience is desired, but not required. Training will be provided.

Summary Description

Under immediate supervision (Water Distribution Operator I) or general supervision (Water Distribution Operator II), performs skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work on the potable water treatment and distribution system of the water utilities services division; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to water distribution and treatment.

Water Distribution Operator I: This is the entry level class in the Water Distribution Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Water Distribution Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to City established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or indirectly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Water Distribution Operator II: This is the full journey level class within the Water Distribution Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Water Distribution Operator I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from level I.

The Energy Department is looking to fill two (2) Part-Time Marketing and Communications Graduate Student Intern (Unclassified) position.

The Marketing and Communications Intern’s primary responsibility will be to assist SJCE with day-to-day communications and improving customer experiences. Projects could include:

• Help maintain and expand SJCE’s program webpages (electric vehicles, solar and storage, electric homes, etc.)
• Assist with developing online tools to help customers navigate the electric vehicles, home electrification, and rooftop solar and increase adoption.
• Write clear and engaging content for web pages, blogs, articles, emails, social media and marketing materials.
• Research, coordinate, and attend community events to increase awareness of SJCE programs and services, particularly in diverse communities. Pitch community events for the marketing team to attend, prepare collateral and materials for events, and conduct outreach at events. The intern may be asked to develop an interactive game or activity for SJCE’s event booth.
• Organize SJCE’s marketing collateral and develop a library of materials that is visible and accessible for department staff and the public.
• Assist with noticing for SJCE programs and improve and streamline processes. This includes drafting letters and emails, developing and refining key messaging, and reviewing data to measure the effectiveness of communications.
• Become a cheerleader for SJCE and CCAs! Connect with colleagues in the field and develop an understanding of industry trends and initiatives.

Additionally, this intern will help support SJCE’s ongoing work, including attending meetings, developing marketing collateral, and collecting and analyzing data to improve customer experiences.

Pay: Graduate Student Intern: $20.52-$30.30 per hour (unclassified, unbenefited) 
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The actual salary will be determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Work Schedule: During the academic year, interns are recommended to work 24-40 hours per week, with schedules determined collaboratively between the hiring manager and the intern based on student availability and project needs. During summer and winter breaks, interns may work up to 40 hours per week.

Training and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of a Bachelor's Degree and current
enrollment in a Masters degree program from an accredited college or university in business or public administration
or closely related field.

Licenses and Certificates

The Manager of Accessible Services, under general policy direction of the Director of Taxis, Access & Mobility Services, provides strategic leadership to ensuring the accessibility of San Francisco’s transportation system. This role oversees one of the largest paratransit programs in the Bay Area and leads systemwide initiatives to expand mobility options for seniors and individuals with disabilities. The Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), shaping capital program priorities, and fostering collaboration with community stakeholders, while balancing fiscal responsibility and high-quality service delivery.

Accessible Services:

The SFMTA Accessible Services Program ensures that San Francisco's transportation system is accessible for older adults and individuals with disabilities by overseeing services such as fixed-route transit, paratransit, and emerging mobility options, meet or exceed relevant accessibility standards. This includes oversight of the Paratransit program, monitoring fixed route accessibility, providing input on the accessibility of streets and transit capital projects, shaping expectations for emerging mobility services, and operating the Regional Transit Connection (RTC) Discount ID Card office to support reduced fares. Some essential duties in these task areas are outlined below.

Paratransit and Service Delivery

• Oversees the SFMTA paratransit program, ensuring safe, reliable, ADA compliant, and customer-focused service for the City & County of San Francisco in collaboration with the Paratransit Program Manager.
• Oversees the Paratransit Program Manager’s work on budgets, contracts, and service provider performance to ensure operational efficiency, fiscal accountability, and high-quality service delivery.
• Guides the Paratransit Program Manager in conducting outreach and engagement with the senior and disabled community, including overseeing the staffing support for the Paratransit Coordinating Council, to inform service planning and improvements.
• Partners with the Paratransit Program Manager to develop and implement data-driven strategies that strengthen accessibility, reliability, and equity in paratransit service delivery.

Fixed Route Accessibility

• Provides senior oversight of accessibility across fixed route Muni services—including light rail, bus, trolley, historic streetcar, and cable car—in collaboration with designated program staff to ensure ADA compliance.
• Supervises staff responsible for training Operators and Muni personnel to ensure high-quality service for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
• Directs and guides staff in conducting outreach to the senior and disability communities, including staffing of the Multimodal Accessibility Advisory Committee, to solicit input on accessibility projects.
• Supervises the Manager of the RTC Discount ID Office, who oversees the issuance of approximately 11,000 IDs annually to qualified seniors and individuals with disabilities.
• Oversees staff involvement in the development of vehicle specifications for all modes to ensure ADA compliance and optimal design for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
• Reviews staff recommendations on transit facility designs for ADA compliance and user friendliness; guides the development and delivery of projects to improve accessibility, including the planning, design, and construction of new accessible light rail stops.

Capital Programs and Accessibility Integration

• Collaborates with planning, engineering, and operations teams to integrate accessibility priorities into major capital projects, streetscape improvements, parking changes, and Quick Build projects. Ensures that new facilities are compliant with Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) and other relevant accessibility legislation.
• Serves as a representative on the SFMTA’s Transportation Capital Committee, influencing project delivery standards and long-term investment decisions.
• Pursues and manages external funding opportunities to support accessibility improvements and capital enhancements.

Policy, Strategy, and Organizational Leadership

• Leads the development and implementation of agency-wide accessibility policies and strategies that align with SFMTA’s equity and sustainability goals.
• Provides direction and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of planners, analysts, and support staff.
• Establishes performance metrics, workflows, and accountability structures to strengthen team effectiveness and promote cross-departmental collaboration.
• Monitors relevant California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) proceedings (including the Access for All Act and autonomous vehicle legislation) and submit agency comments on proposed rulings.
• Tracks federal, state, and local accessibility-related legislation to inform policy positions and ensure agency compliance.

Stakeholder Engagement and Community Partnerships

• Builds and maintains strong relationships with disability advocates, riders, community groups, and government partners.
• Directs public engagement efforts to ensure accessibility initiatives reflect community needs and priorities.
• Oversees events, campaigns, and outreach programs that promote accessibility awareness and participation.
• Serves as the agency liaison with Office of Disability & Accessibility (ODA), San Francisco Public Works Disability Access Coordinator, and other citywide ADA Coordinators.

Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND

Experience: Five (5) years of professional-level experience in transportation related services or a related field interpreting and/or monitoring and/or enforcing accessibility legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Professional-level experience consists of interpreting laws and regulations, and/or exercising independent judgment in the application of defined principles, practices, and regulations; and three (3) years supervising professional-level staff.

Substitution: Additional qualifying professional-level experience in transportation related services or a related field interpreting and/or monitoring and/or enforcing accessibility legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act may be substituted for the required education in Minimum Qualifications on a year-for-year basis. One year (2000 hours) of qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to thirty (30) semester units/forty-five (45) quarter units.

Note: the required three (3) years of experience supervising professional-level staff need not be in addition to the five (5) years of professional-level experience in the required functional area.

The Opportunity

The County of San Mateo’s Department of Public Works seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Departmental Human Resources Manager. What You Will Do

This position is responsible for administering and supporting key human resources functions for the Department of Public Works, including but not limited to: 

Employee and Labor Relations

• Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, including performance management, corrective action, investigations, and compliance documentation.
• Advise managers on progressive discipline, documentation standards, and risk-aware decision-making.
• Partner with labor organizations; participate in meet-and-confers and negotiations; interpret and apply MOUs and Civil Service Rules. 

Payroll, Compliance, and HR Operations

• Provide oversight and guidance related to payroll processes, audits, and compliance requirements. 
• Ensure adherence to County, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and labor agreements. 
• Interpret and apply policies related to leave, benefits, workers’ compensation, and classification/compensation. 

Workforce & Performance Management

• Coach managers and supervisors on effective performance evaluations, SMART goal setting, and employee development.
• Support workforce planning and recruitment strategies within Civil Service rules. 
• Assist with onboarding, succession planning, and staff development initiatives.

Engagement, Wellness, and Organizational Development

• Champion employee engagement, wellness, appreciation initiatives tailored to the diverse workforce, and leading the department employee engagement committee.
• Conduct training needs assessments and identify systemic issues impacting morale, performance, or compliance.
• Help re-establish and strengthen training, mentoring, and development programs.

Strategic Partnerships and Communication

• Build strong relationships with department leadership, supervisors, frontline staff, and central HR partners.
• Prepare professional reports, policies, Board memos, executive summaries, and presentations.
• Represent the department in meetings with executive leadership, unions, vendors, and community partners.

• Effective in Stakeholder Influence & Change Leadership. Skilled at enabling managers to navigate conflict, documentation, and performance issues, while supporting workforce stability during reorganizations, budget shifts, capital project ramps, and service delivery changes.
• Skilled in Communication & Conflict Resolution. Known for clear, de-escalating communication, effective mediation between employees, supervisors, and labor representatives, and sound judgment in high-visibility, high-stakes situations.
• Grounded in Cultural Stewardship & Equity Mindset. Integrates equity and inclusion into employee relations practices, promotes psychological safety, and ensures fair, consistent, and respectful treatment across diverse field and administrative environments.
