The Principal Planner (Planning Administrator) Major Corridors is responsible for the development of corridor planning efforts on major corridors served by the agency. The person in this position will serve as a project manager or key supportive staff member on high profile, priority projects such as: Dumbarton West Transit Connector (Dumbarton Busway Feasibility Study), the Grand Boulevard Initiative and related El Camino Real/SR-82 corridor planning efforts. SamTrans requires someone with experience leading complex multimodal projects through planning, environmental and design phases.

Essential Functions & Duties

• Lead long-range transit and multimodal corridor plans, projects, and studies.

• Manage consultant contracts; approve and monitor project schedule and budget; direct and review consultant work.

Minimum Qualifications Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: 

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, transportation engineering, geography, economics, public policy or other directly related field.
• Four (4) years of full-time progressively responsible transportation planning experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working at or with a public transit operator on corridor planning projects.
• Experience leading complex transit priority and bicycle and pedestrian projects through planning, environmental and design phases.
• Experience in technical grant writing and project scoping.
• Strong presentation skills with Boards and committees.
• Experience with GIS and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Fluent in Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), or other language often spoken in San Mateo County.

THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Human Resources Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. The Department is responsible for programs in recruitment and selection, classification and position control, labor and employee relations, employee training and development, workforce planning, salary and benefit administration, and employment related policies.  The HR Analyst Intern will receive supervision from the Sr. HR Analyst primarily responsible for each specific project. The duration and start dates of the internship are flexible.

 

DUTIES: The primary projects will most likely include the following:

• Employee Development and Workforce Planning: help with internal documentation, systems and tracking for training participation; assist with the transition to a new LMS system, assist in the design, coordination, and evaluation of learning and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
• Classification and Position Control: Assist in updating and maintaining the position control database, track position vacancies and changes, assist in reviewing and organizing job descriptions, assist in compiling data for reclassification requests, assist in compiling data for compensation analysis, support in the preparation of classification related documents.
• Recruitment: Assist in sourcing candidates through various job boards, assist in updating and maintaining recruitment log, assist in the preparation of oral board materials and logistics for in-person oral board interviews, maintain recruitment files – close out interview materials once a recruitment has been completed
• Employee and Labor Relations: Review applicable MOUs, side letters, policies & procedures to determine and identify applicable provisions which may apply to specific departmental inquiries.  Provide recommendations based on research and data analysis, assist in tracking MOU compliance items, help organize trainings related to employee relations.
• Employee Services and Benefits: Assist in processing of benefit enrollments and changes, respond to basic employee inquiries about benefit offerings, assist with benefit offerings communication to City employees, assist with gathering documentation or follow-up as needed, assist with internal tracking and reporting.

In addition, the intern may work on a variety of other projects depending upon their time and interests.

The Organization 

Incorporated in 1927, Menlo Park is a general Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. The Department

The Position

San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is seeking an experienced Patient Services Specialist (PSS) - Extra-Help.
 
The successful hire will support the clinical team with all registration, eligibility, enrollment, authorization, other administrative tasks, and Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) activities for SMMC. The PSS serves as the ambassador for SMMC to validate information and educate our patients and guests with the financial process upon arrival to the facility. The PSS verifies all demographic information, validates eligibility, obtain authorizations, collects co-payments, assist with all payor notifications and communication, and enroll patients if needed. The hire will be expected to work holidays and rotating weekends, if needed, to support department needs.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical terminology and medical insurance requirements to individuals with varying levels of medical knowledge. Additionally, they should have strong skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will also be able to collaborate effectively with the clinical team, work with challenging patients, and assist those who may have language or communication barriers. This position requires keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be flexible and available for various shifts throughout the week.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

The Position:

The Assistant City Manager works directly for the City Manager in the Office of the City Manager. The Office is responsible for the general management and oversight of Daly City’s municipal operations, including the North County Fire Authority and North San Mateo County Sanitation District. This involves service and coordination to multiple agencies and municipalities.  Additionally, the general management of the operating and capital budgets;
financial planning for the municipal corporation; continued improvement, expansion, or redirection of programs and activities within the organization to meet community needs; recommendation of senior management personnel; participation in labor relations activities; generating public information, facilitating conversation and information exchange with citizens, encouraging community participation; and representing the organization in  
inter-jurisdictional matters with other agencies as designated by the City Manager.

These duties are carried out under the direction of the City Manager through the implementation of City Council policies and legislative actions. The Office of the City Manager is responsible for implementation of the City Council and community’s vision and priorities.

The Department

The South San Francisco Public Works Department is comprised of its three main divisions - Engineering, Maintenance & Operations, and the Water Quality Control Plant. Together, these divisions ensure that South San Francisco's infrastructure and public services are efficiently managed and maintained, contributing to the overall quality of life in the community.

The Public Works Maintenance and Operations division in South San Francisco is dedicated to maintaining the city's infrastructure and public spaces, prioritizing safety, cleanliness, and functionality. Its responsibilities include keeping streets, sidewalks, signage, and traffic signals in good condition to improve safety and ensure efficient traffic flow. The division also manages stormwater systems, performing regular maintenance of drainage infrastructure to prevent flooding and protect water quality.

In support of the city's sustainability goals, the division aids in waste and recycling efforts by providing education to the community and ensuring compliance with waste reduction regulations. Additionally, the division manages the city fleet, overseeing the maintenance and repair of vehicles to safeguard reliability, efficiency, and readiness for all city operations.

Promptly addressing graffiti and vandalism, the team works to keep public spaces welcoming and well-maintained. In emergencies, the division provides essential response support, quickly restoring infrastructure to protect public safety. Through these varied responsibilities, the Maintenance and Operations division plays a vital role in supporting South San Francisco’s quality of life and environmental health.
