Administrative Assistant

Under the direction of the Town Clerk, the Administrative Assistant performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical support for multiple Town departments, including Community Development, Public Works, and Engineering. Serving as the primary front-line contact at the Town of Loomis front desk, this position provides professional and courteous customer service to the public, Town staff, and outside agencies. Responsibilities include answering inquiries, processing permits and applications, maintaining records, performing routine office support functions, provide website maintenance and support and assisting with recurring customer service tasks to ensure efficient departmental operations. The role requires sound judgment in selecting appropriate procedures, conducting transactions with customers and the public, and resolving routine, and some non-routine, issues based on experience and established policies.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.  The Town of Loomis offers an attractive compensation and benefits program. The current salary range for this position is $57,767.00 – $71,432.00 annually; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and  experience.

SENIOR ENGINEER

The Salary range is $ 108,142.00—$131,448.00

Under the direction of the Town Engineer, this position performs professional civil engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of the Town of Loomis’ public infrastructure and capital improvement projects.  Responsibilities include preparing engineering plans and specifications, reviewing development proposals, managing projects, managing engineering records, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations, and providing technical assistance to other departments and the public. The Senior Engineer role includes supervisory responsibilities. May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays to attend meetings or respond to emergencies. May require after-hours on-call rotations.

DEFINITION
Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, manages, and provides administrative direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the Administrative Services Department, including Human Resources, Clerk of the Board and Risk Management; formulates departmental policies, goals, and directives; coordinates assigned activities with officials and outside agencies; fosters cooperative working relationships among Agency departments and with intergovernmental, regulatory agencies, and various public and private groups; provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the General Manager in coordinating and directing Agency-wide departmental activities and operations and in executing the long-term vision for the Agency; and performs related work as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives administrative direction from the General Manager. Exercises supervision over management, supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative support staff through subordinate levels of supervision. 

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is a department director classification that oversees, directs, and participates in all activities of the Administrative Services Department, including short- and long-term planning as well as development and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and services. This class provides assistance to the General Manager in a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, and liaison capacities. Successful performance of the work requires knowledge of public policy, Agency functions and activities, including the role of the Board of Directors and the ability to develop, oversee, and implement projects and programs in a variety of areas. Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of the department with those of other departments and outside agencies and managing and overseeing the complex and varied functions of the department. The incumbent is accountable for accomplishing departmental planning and operational goals and objectives, and for furthering the Agency’s mission, goals, and objectives within general policy guidelines.

This position will provide a variety of clerical duties required to assist veterans and their dependents in determining, applying for, and maintaining eligibility for benefits. The incumbent provides clerical support to the Veterans’ Services Officer. This position is full-time, and is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

The Marysville Police Department is recruiting for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher.

Under general supervision (Hydrologist I) to direction (Hydrologist II) performs collection and analysis of hydrologic and meteorological data in support of the Agency’s mission to provide reliable water supply for irrigation, groundwater management, flood control, and power generation; ensures minimum flow requirements to maintain water rights; and performs related duties, as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision (Hydrologist I) to direction (Hydrologist II) from the assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff. 

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Hydrologist I: This is the entry-level classification in the Hydrologist series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform routine hydrologic data collection, while learning Agency policies and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult; close supervision and frequent review of work lessen as an incumbent demonstrates skill to perform the work independently. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the Hydrologist II-level but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. 

Hydrologist II: This is the journey-level classification in the Hydrologist series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the Hydrologist I-level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Senior Hydrologist in that the latter performs the more complex work assigned to the series and provides technical and functional direction over lower-level staff.

Positions in the Hydrologist class series are flexibly staffed; positions at the II-level are normally filled by advancement from the I-level; progression to the II-level is dependent on (i) management affirmation that the position is performing the full range of duties assigned to the classification; (ii) satisfactory work performance; (iii) the incumbent meeting the minimum qualifications for the classification including any licenses and certifications; and (iv) management approval for progression to the II-level.

The City of Colfax is currently accepting applications for Maintenance Worker I. This is an entry level position in the Public Works department requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience in a semi-skilled maintenance occupation. Typical duties include: landscape maintenance, electrical and plumbing repairs, minor construction and light carpentry projects, cleaning public restrooms, keeping public streets and parks clean and in good repair. The employee will check storm drains, culverts and ditches; operate tools and equipment to patch and repair pavement, construct and maintain gutters, sidewalks and other incidental improvements. The ability to operate power tools and work safely, wearing appropriate PPE. Occasional maintenance will be required for the wastewater treatment plant and collection systems. Under direct supervision, the Police Academy Recruit attends a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for the performance of Police Officer duties.  This position requires a thorough background investigation, psychological assessment, and a medical exam prior to appointment. This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer series. Incumbents in this classification receive training in a controlled classroom environment.  Advancement to the sworn Police Officer position is based on meeting minimum qualification standards and satisfactory performance in the academy.

The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Public Works Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

The Director also coordinates departmental activities with other City departments, outside agencies, community groups and individuals; and provides highly complex professional advice and support to the City Manager and City Council; assures department compliance with and enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes; manages and supervises staff; serves as a member of the City’s Executive Team.

REQUIREMENTS

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education and Certification

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar major.

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.
