The Burlingame Public Library is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Special Collections Intern to assist with the assessment, development, and strategic planning of the Library’s Special Collections. This internship provides hands-on experience in archival evaluation, policy development, and collection management—ideal for graduate students pursuing careers in Library Science, Archival Studies, or Museum Studies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct an inventory and condition assessment of selected Special Collections materials
• Evaluate holdings by topic/theme, physical condition, and space constraints
• Contribute to the creation of a Special Collections component for the Collection Development Policy
• Assist in defining the scope and purpose of the Special Collections
• Research and analyze collection strengths, weaknesses, and growth opportunities

• Benchmark the Special Collections against best practices and peer institutions
• Draft guidelines for the acquisition and withdrawal of items
• Collaborate with library staff to define collection priorities and future directions
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to strategic planning discussions

THE POSITION
To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.

The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a Temporary / Part-Time position. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Facility Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for employment as an Intern. Temporary / Part-Time employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours per fiscal year. Typical work schedule will be three 8-hour shifts per week, excluding weekends and evenings.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
This position will perform semi-skilled tasks in a variety of light construction and maintenance activities. The Ideal Candidate will be customer-friendly and be a solutions-oriented professional who is flexible in dealing with shifting priorities, have good time management skills, and possess the ability to work effectively in the absence of supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City buildings, equipment and facilities by performing a variety of semiskilled carpentry, plumbing,  painting, heating/air conditioning, mechanical repair and electrical work as necessary. Inspect City buildings to locate conditions indicating the need for repairs and maintenance; assist in establishing and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Operate and maintain a variety of heavy tools and equipment, including small power and hand tools. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Remodel and repair a variety of building components such as counters, tables, desks, bookshelves, cabinets, partitions, walls, windows and doors; boilers, water pumps, exhaust fans, compressors, and other water and sewage system plumbing as required. Perform electrical work such as wiring and rewiring; replace switches, ballast and receptacles as required. Prepare simple activity and related reports; maintain inventory and work records as required. Requisition supplies and materials. Perform general janitorial duties as needed. Currently, the Field Services Division of the Department of Public Works (DPW) is looking for individuals for the position of Senior Engineering Technician.  This position will provide support to the Field Services division through updates to the Geographic Information System (GIS) system, AutoCAD, and miscellaneous databases.  This position will coordinate internally with various DPW staff to maintain system records and support their needs to successfully complete their projects on time.

The ideal candidate should have experience using and editing AutoCAD software. The Senior Engineering Technician will assist the City Surveyor with topographic, monument, and benchmark surveys conducted in the field. Additionally, the technician will help restore missing or damaged monuments and benchmarks and perform administrative tasks such as filing permits, updating block books, conducting research, and carrying out field inspections and investigations. Employees in this role are expected to be fully trained in all procedures related to their assigned responsibilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief of Party, a Professional Engineer, or a Principal Engineering Technician, who assigns tasks and reviews work to ensure compliance with instructions and established engineering standards.

The Design Division manages capital improvement planning and programming related to pavement management, storm drain facilities, and sanitary sewer systems. Additionally, the division provides capital project delivery services for a variety of City projects including transportation, roadways, pedestrian and bicycle, storm drains, sanitary sewers, buildings, libraries, and parks to implement the City’s capital improvement program. The division also coordinates with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on the City’s Community Rating System (CRS) program to maintain the City’s Class 7 rating. 

The Field Services Division provides construction management, construction inspection, materials testing, and surveying for capital improvement projects such as pavement rehabilitation, traffic signals, storm and sanitary sewers, parks, building improvements and other public improvements.  The Field Services Division also provides construction inspection and coordination for developer/private construction of public improvements within the City’s right-of-way. 

The Land & Property Development Division is responsible for providing efficient and effective engineering services to support private development projects during the entitlement, design, and construction phases. The division works closely with customers, developers, utility companies and the community to ensure projects comply with local, state and federal standards. The division is also responsible for reviewing and approving encroachment permits, easements, street/easement abandonments, subdivision maps, processing encroachment agreements, collecting development-related fees, and collaborating with other Public Works divisions, as well as other City departments throughout all project phases. Additionally, the division provides customer counter services to the general public as the City’s permit center.

The Traffic Engineering Division provides traffic engineering, traffic impact analysis reviews, bicycle and pedestrian improvement planning, grant administration, and traffic signal maintenance and operation services for the City. The division also investigates resident/business inquiries related to street parking, traffic calming, intersection control, and bicycling and pedestrian travel on public streets. Finally, this division coordinates with other agencies such as the Valley Transportation Authority, County of Santa Clara Roads and Airports, Caltrans, and the cities of San Jose, Cupertino, and Sunnyvale related to projects, programs, and grant opportunities.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking to fill vacancies for a Psychiatric Technician I/II for the Adult Outpatient Program/Adult Full-Service Partnership (FSP) Program. The Ethics Commission is responsible for the independent and impartial administration and enforcement of laws related to campaign finance, public financing of candidates, governmental ethics, conflicts of interest, and registration and reporting by lobbyists, campaign consultants, permit consultants, and major developers.

The successful candidate should expect to perform their duties in a hybrid work environment with at least three days onsite per week per current City policy. Additionally, any City employee may be called in for Disaster Service Work duty or to work onsite with 24-hours’ notice.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

The Deputy Director must be willing to forego involvement in all local political activity while a member of the Commission staff and publicly file an annual Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Establish and implement departmental goals, policies, and strategic plans as directed by the Executive Director.
• Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the Commission’s laws, policies, programs, procedures, and operations.
• Oversee daily administrative operations of the department including financial management, procurement, accounting, payroll, and related office operations.
• Effectively plan, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the work of direct reports.
• Manage the department’s hiring initiatives including tracking vacancies, producing hiring-related documents, coordinating recruitment functions with staff and DHR, and supporting onboarding activities.
• Manage the department’s HR and personnel functions and lead initiatives to promote staff engagement and professional development.
• Direct the department’s annual budget development process by working with Commission staff and City stakeholders to get necessary funding approved through the City’s budgeting process.
• Track ongoing spending using the City’s financial systems and monitor adherence to the approved budget.
• Manage the department’s contracting needs and establish internal procedures and documentation for related business processes.
• Design and implement standardized workflows, procedures, documents, and tools for the Commission’s departmental business processes. Identify ways to improve business processes using automation.
• Establish effective metrics that inform the department’s operations and programmatic work in a data-driven manner. Develop processes to generate and track performance measures broadly across functions for leadership and staff, using automated tools in collaboration with the technology division.
• Manage services from other departments to support the Commission’s operations and serve as a liaison for departments and other stakeholders.
• Prepare management reports, annual reports, agency publications, and financial reports to provide regular progress updates regarding departmental goals and operations. Provide presentations at Commission meetings as needed.
• Maintain information on the Commission’s website, including budget, operational reports, and Commission information, in compliance with the City’s language access and digital inclusion standards.

• Support Commission-related operations including assisting with public meetings and onboarding new Commissioners.
• Act on behalf of the Executive Director when requested to provide business continuity for other programmatic and business functions.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality of sensitive information obtained through the course of completing assignments while working comfortably in an open government environment.
• Maintain and retrieve documents, records, and correspondence in accordance with established procedures for data retention and records requests.
• Establish and maintain effective professional relationships that foster an inclusive work environment and constructive problem-solving.

• Demonstrate sound independent judgment and the highest standards of integrity in carrying out duties.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, AND
• Two (2) years of managerial experience in governmental ethics, campaign financing, and/or lobbying laws and regulations, all of which must include supervisory experience.

Substitution: Additional experience as described above may substitute for the required degree on a year for year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Desired Qualifications

• A Master's degree in public administration, business administration, public policy, or a closely related field of study, or a juris doctor degree.

• Two or more years of demonstrated experience with public sector management, budgeting, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, and/or recruitment functions.
• Experience in the fields of campaign finance and governmental ethics.
• Experience working objectively, efficiently, and effectively under strict deadlines and highly visible, sensitive, or politicized settings.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in organizational policies, systems, and issues in a government setting.
• Proficiency with computers and software applications, including with Microsoft Office tools, electronic filings systems, collaboration and project management tools (SharePoint, MS Teams, Jira or similar), financial & accounting systems, digital signature tools (DocuSign or similar), and content management systems (WordPress or similar).
• Familiarity with data analysis skills including advanced Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, or other statistical/analytics tools. Comfortable working with complex datasets and databases.
• Strong leadership and management skills and experience working effectively with diverse stakeholders in fast-paced, sensitive, and politicized settings.
• Ability to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation and organizational skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility in handling changing circumstances in dynamic work environments.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, exercise initiative, and complete multiple competing projects within established timeframes while also ensuring accurate, high-quality work products.

The City of Dixon Recreation Department is accepting applications for one (1) position of Pool Manager for the 2025 Aquatics Season.

The Aquatics Supervisor organizes, leads, supervises and performs all aquatic activities as related to the management and operation of the City of Dixon swimming pool. Performs regular lifeguard duties, organizes and instructs swim classes. Performs related and other work as required.

This is a temporary/seasonal position working the Aquatic Season as early May 2025 through November 2025. Staff can average between 20-40 hours per week based on the season, needs of the program, and staff availability. Staff may be expected to work weekends and on fixed holidays. Those who work on a City Holiday will earn 1 ½ times their base hourly salary.

This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.
