DEFINITION

Under general supervision to perform general duty firefighting and fire prevention activities; to respond to emergency calls; to operate and maintain firefighting apparatus and equipment; to assist and participate in fire training programs and fire station maintenance; and to do related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This classification includes a variety of assignments in preventing, controlling and extinguishing fires, performing emergency medical care and rescue operations, public education activities, and maintenance operations. While time spent fighting fires constitutes a small fraction of the scheduled work time, incumbents must be able to meet such emergencies and the hazards which may involve considerable physical exertion, and potential risk to health and safety.

The Department

The Economic Development Program Manager plays a vital role in fostering relationships with the business community, developing and implementing economic development strategies, all while providing direct support to meet business needs. San Mateo Medical Center is currently seeking a professional, goal-oriented full-time, regular (benefited) Clinical Services Manager I who will plan, organize, direct, and supervise the operations of our Medical-Surgical (ADC of 35), Intensive Care Unit (ADC 4), and Infusion Center. As Clinical Services Manager I, you will have the opportunity to manage patient care while ensuring appropriate quality of care and compliance with regulations. In addition, you will participate in training, coaching, and counseling activities and perform other assigned duties.

Job Description

Under general medical direction of the site medical director and/or Primary Care Chief Medical Officer, the 2230 Physician Specialist functions within an organized system for the delivery of health care in association with other members of the health care team and performs specialized duties in clinical settings. The essential job functions of the 2230 Physician include the following: 

• Provides primary care, urgent care and relevant office-based procedures to patients consistent with their medical specialty area through in-person, telehealth, and/or group visits 
• Provides telephone advice to patients

• Provides clinical case management for patients with complex care needs as indicated

DEFINITION

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the entry-level class in the Planner series. Initially under close supervision, Assistant Planners learn to apply concepts and work procedures and perform professional planning work. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. Assistant and Associate Planner

• Serves as project manager on planning and development projects, including processing applications and reviewing plans for routine to complex commercial, industrial, residential, mixed use, and/or tree removal projects.

• Provide general assistance and advice to the developers and the public on current planning and zoning matters, both orally and in writing.
• Process development permit and subdivision applications for hearing in accordance with State law.
• Performs plan check functions for various projects. Receives and reviews applications for building permits for completeness.
• Reviews business license applications and ensures consistency with land use standards and prior development and entitlement approvals.
• Prepare and present reports for Planning Commission and City Council action on current advanced planning projects.
• Prepare periodic major and minor revisions to the Zoning Ordinance, General Plan and Coastal Land Use Plan.
• Formulate, prepare and present ordinances, projects and studies addressing special planning problems and issues related, for example, to Community Development funding, redevelopment, commercial development, provision for low and moderate income housing, or coastal access.
• Periodically work with community groups and committees on special projects with Zoning Ordinance and General Plan revisions. May be asked to represent City at regional meetings related to Community Development.
• Provide general assistance and advice to the developers and the public on current planning and zoning matters, both orally and in writing.
• Assists the public at the front counter, on the phone, via email, and answering questions and providing information regarding zoning, land use, code interpretation, development standards, project status, and the City’s processes.

• Writes staff reports and collects supporting documentation for submission to the Planning Commission, City Council, Open Space and Parkland Advisory Committee, and other commissions and committees.

Definition

Under general supervision of the Economic and Housing Development Manager, assists in organizing and implementing an Economic Development Workplan that promotes the growth and development of the City’s economic base, including the facilitation of housing production and new building permits, the retention and expansion of existing businesses, and, sourcing new businesses for the City. This position will also support the Economic and Housing Development Manager’s staffing of the City’s Economic and Community Development Committee.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the journey level class within the Housing and Economic and Housing Development Specialist series. Employees perform the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Because of the cooperative, facilitative and marketing nature of this role, individuals must be able to work well with and have knowledge of other City departments, community stakeholders, small business owners and real estate developers.
