About the Position
Depending on the assigned program, the duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

After School Programs

• Opening and closing facilities

Arrillaga Recreation Center (Events)

• Opening and closing the building
• Answering phones
• Ability to learn, use, and perform tasks in recreation software systems
• Setting up and cleaning up events and facility rentals
• Overseeing and monitoring the Recreation facilities during facility rentals Gymnasium/Sports
• Performing outstanding customer service
• Basketball, Volleyball and Softball scorekeeping
• May be responsible for handling money and organizing class sign-in sheets 

Gymnastics

• Working directly with children in gymnastics classes, supporting skill development, confidence, and independence
• Demonstrating skills and modeling positive behavior as a role model for students
• Communicating with parents as needed about progress, development, and questions
• Maintaining class discipline using positive reinforcement and progressive behavior management techniques

Senior Center

• Helping serve meals
• Helping coordinate activities
• Serving as Kitchen Cook

 

These positions are part-time, hourly, non-benefited classifications limited to a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year (or approximately 20 hours a week). 

 

Physical Requirements
This position requires a moderate to high level of physical activity depending on program assignment. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and sitting for extended periods of time while facilitating programs, interacting with participants, or performing administrative tasks. Employees must be able to actively supervise and engage participants in a variety of recreation programs and activities, both indoors and outdoors, and move quickly to respond to participant needs and ensure safety. The position may also require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment, supplies, tables, chairs, or other materials weighing up to approximately 30 – 50 pounds as part of program setup and breakdown. Some assignments may involve computer and desk work for program planning, communication, and administrative duties.

Join our team of dedicated staff working in the special events division of Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation, & Community Services Department. Team members will assist in setting up, monitoring, and breaking down events all while providing excellent customer service.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION
Redwood City is known for delivering a large variety of high-quality special events year-round including concerts, festivals, cultural events, kids concerts, pop up recreational activities, and more. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently; understand proper setup and breakdown procedures of special events equipment; maintain and care for equipment as necessary; monitor program areas for quality assurance; operate effectively as a member of a team; report to supervisors orally and in writing; complete assigned paperwork such as timecards and incident and/or accident reports.
Work schedules can vary during the year pending current event programming. Candidates can expect an average of 15-20 hours per week throughout the year.

The Manager, Track & Structures reports to the Deputy Director of Infrastructure Engineering and is responsible for overseeing railroad track and structures engineering support for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain)

Essential Functions & Duties:

Essential Functions:

• Acts as agency lead on matters related to track and structures.
• Oversee the track and structures engineering tasks for design/construction of Caltrain Capital and SOGR projects and provide technical support for planning on grade separation projects.
• Ensure the capital and maintenance projects comply with the contract agreement and implement the approved design for compliance with JPB standards and specifications. 
• Lead the advanced technical reviews of projects to assess constructability, examine design details, perform quantity audit, and recommend construction sequencing.
• Establish effective relationships and liaise with Caltrain operation contractors, consultants, internal departments, and other agencies (CPUC, FRA, UPRR, etc.) on railroad track and structures related to influence design and project development.
• Supervise staff.  Hire, mentor and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action.  Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Participate in selection of staff. Coordinate staff training and professional development. Establish performance objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance.

Examples of Essential Duties: 

• Plan, develop and implement the group’s work plan, budget, goals, and objectives to be consistent with the Engineering Department’s goals.
• Manage the design review of project documentation such as drawings, basis of design, specifications, technical reports, and calculations for compliance with Caltrain Standards and for cost effectiveness of the design. 
• Lead development of potential solutions to the design/construction team and presents for design optimization, risk management challenges, and constructability improvements.
• Assist with Maintenance Department to develop the annual and long-term railroad track engineering and maintenance plans, coordinate these plans with capital projects and support to implement the plans.
• Review and provide technical input for capital and maintenance projects for compliance and cost effectiveness of the design.
• Perform QA reviews of RFIs and submittals as well as participate in change order review and final inspections to construction. 
• Ensure track and structures comply with all return-to-service requirements following all construction activities.
• Review and evaluate project specific designs and provide technical recommendations to design variance approval process.
• Responsible for Caltrain Bridge Management Program.
• Responsible for updates to Caltrain Engineering Standards.
• Train, motivate and monitor staff activities, provide direction, and to identify and resolve the problems.
• Provide 24/7 on-call construction and maintenance support.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm.  Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or related field. 
• Professional Engineer's license.
• Five years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience of railroad design and engineering in a railroad, engineering firm, or public works agency with experience managing professional staff.
• Railroad structures projects design experience through all phases of design and construction.
• Experienced with AREMA, FRA and CPUC Standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Able to respond 24/7 to service and operational needs in a variety of weather and road conditions.
• Experienced with AREMA, FRA and CPUC Standards.
• Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Possess a valid California driver license with safe driving record or able to obtain one within six months of hire.

The City of Foster City is seeking a qualified Senior Building Inspector who is detail-oriented and has the knowledge and experience in the areas of building inspection and safety and code compliance to join the Building Division of our Community Development Department. The Department consists of Building, Planning, and Code Enforcement Divisions and is headed by Community Development Director. 

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. A desired course of additional education would include two (2) years of college course work in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Inspection, or completion of an Apprenticeship Program in a building construction related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience to include a minimum of one (1) year full-time plan check experience and one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in a variety of municipal building inspection work.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration

• Possession of the International Code Council (I.C.C.) Plans Examiner Certificate and Full Combination Building Inspector Certificate.

The Housing Authority is seeking a team-oriented candidate to plan and manage the asset management function of the Housing Authority’s real estate portfolio including the housing assets owned by AHA’s affiliates. The Senior Asset Manager conducts financial, physical and regulatory performance review; develops and monitors capital needs assessment programs; and reviews, recommends and implements financing or refinancing schemes at multi-family and tax credit properties, in addition to providing highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Directors of, Housing Development and Property Operations. The City is seeking a Cross-Connection Control Specialist to perform a range of technical and specialized duties supporting the City’s water system, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of cross-connection control and backflow prevention programs. This role ensures compliance with safe drinking water standards as well as federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities include conducting field investigations, surveys, tests, and audits of work performed by third‑party vendors or contract staff; preparing reports; maintaining records and files; and performing related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by specialized training in backflow prevention, cross-connection control, water distribution, or a related field.

The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) is seeking an exceptional, process-orientated professional to serve as the Director of Housing Programs to assist with planning, organizing, managing, and providing administrative direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the Housing Programs Department which administers the various assistance programs the AHA operates.
