DEFINITION: Under general supervision, provide personal fitness training to clients requesting service; maintain personal schedule at the front desk; enforce all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well being of all patrons; keep fitness floor tidy and clean. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Train clients safely according to current industry standards and training.
• Offer and conduct free fitness floor orientations to new customers during Fitness Floor shifts.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Police Department is recruiting for a full-time, Police Communications Dispatcher.  This is a specialized police civilian classification and performs all duties required to effectively dispatch police services including operating police radio communication equipment to communicate with the public and police.  Receives, interprets, and transmits information essential to the delivery of emergency and non-emergency police services.

• Monitors local emergency services radio transmissions; maintains contact and monitors status of field units; monitors the county mutual aid channel.
• Responds to emergency phone lines, including calls to and from fire department, alarm companies, and tow companies.
• Prioritizes needs of difficult callers, including hysterical victims, incoherent persons and suicidal subjects; assesses and evaluates emergency situations.
• Enters calls for service information into the CAD system, including type, location, nature and description of event; enters all field unit transmissions.
• Enters information into automated systems, including temporary warrants, missing persons, property, stolen vehicles, domestic violence restraining orders and firearms; searches various databases and automated systems in response to information requests.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties, including photocopying, completing forms and maintaining records; receives and responds to document requests for warrants and DMV printouts.
• Operates a variety of specialized equipment related to dispatch work.
• Answers front office non-emergency lines after hours.
• Informs on-duty shift Sergeant of street activity and pending calls for service.
• May train and evaluate new employees.
• Performs related duties as required.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of:

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. The selected candidate must be currently enrolled or enrolled at a future date as a self-sponsored recruit in a certified Peace Officer Standards & Training Council (P.O.S.T.) Police Academy. The Police Officer Trainee is a non-sworn, training-level classification requiring no prior law enforcement experience. The incumbent performs a variety of entry-level police support duties in a learning capacity. The selected candidate will assist and observe Police Officers and civilian police personnel.

The successful candidate will attend the Police Academy to obtain a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate of Completion, and perform related work which may require public contact but not the enforcement of laws. Police Officer Trainees attend a POST certified Police Academy, which follows a standardized curriculum in order to provide them with basic training in various aspects of policing, many of which are prescribed by law and/or statute.

The Police Academy training is designed to provide the candidate the necessary skillsets to prepare them for consideration for promotion to a probationary Police Officer position within the City and begin the Sebastopol Police Department’s Field Training Officer program.
