The City of Union City’s Community and Recreation Services Department is seeking passionate, motivated, and certified fitness professionals to join the Mark Green Sports Center (MGSC) team as Group Exercise Instructors and/or Personal Trainers. This position supports the City’s mission to promote health, wellness, and community engagement through high-quality fitness programs. Trainers and instructors work in a supportive, community-based environment — with no commission-based quotas or sales pressure. Instead, our Fitness Coordinator assists in client promotion, class opportunities, and professional growth through internal referrals and member engagement. Group Exercise Instructors may join our substitute roster and may be assigned to teach classes aligned with their certification and experience as openings arise.

Description

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a high-performing Senior Planner to lead complex development and long-range planning initiatives in one of Southern California’s most desirable communities. This position plays a key role in sharing residential, mixed-use, commercial, and downtown revitalization projects while advancing the City’s General Plan and environmental review efforts.   

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative individual to conduct a variety of planning duties with competence and professionalism. The Senior Planner must be an excellent team player with a track record of excellent judgement who has demonstrated initiative and been successful in improving processes.

The Senior Planner will assume a lead role in complex planning and development projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional proposals, and may assist in the preparation of environmental documents (both internally and through planning consultants).  The Senior Planner may also process legislative applications, such as zone changes and General Plan amendments, and occasionally assist with open space planning/natural resource management projects.

Primary responsibilities:

• Manage consultant preparation of environmental documents in compliance with CEQA requirements, including Mitigated Negative Declarations and Environmental Impact Reports; review technical studies, coordinate interdepartmental input, and prepare environmental documentation as needed. Interpret and apply federal, state, and local land use regulations, including evolving California housing law, to ensure legally defensible and consistent project review.  Prepare and present clear, well-supported staff reports and policy analysis for City Council, Planning Commission, and community stakeholders.
• Process legislative applications, including Municipal Code Amendments, zone changes, and General Plan amendments
• Support implementation of downtown revitalization initiatives and Specific Plan updates/initiatives

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a hands-on and technically proficient Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Supervisor to support operations at the Hill Canyon Treatment Plant (HCTP), a 24-hour, Class V advanced tertiary wastewater treatment facility with a 14-million-gallon-per-day capacity that treats an average of eight million gallons of wastewater daily from domestic commercial, and industrial sources. HCTP employs a wide range of sophisticated technologies, including a SCADA system, complex mechanical process equipment, analytical instrumentation and meters, industrial electronic control systems, and power distribution infrastructure.  

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance of this diverse and critical equipment, including on-site power generation systems such as biogas-fueled cogeneration and photovoltaic solar array that offsets the facility’s energy use. Treated effluent is produced to an advanced tertiary level and reused for agricultural and landscape irrigation, while biosolids are managed and hauled off-site for composting. This role requires strong leadership, sound technical judgment, and the ability to manage shifting priorities in a highly regulated, continuously operating environment, while ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates the work of assigned staff; develops, implements, and monitors work plans, processes, systems, and procedures to achieve established goals, objectives, and performance standards.  

• Plans, directs, and evaluates employee performance; establishes performance expectations and development goals; provides regular coaching and feedback; and recommends recognition or corrective action, consistent with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations. 

• Participates in the recruitment and selection of maintenance staff; coordinates and provides staff training; and works with employees to address performance or skill deficiencies.  

• Establishes schedules and methods for providing plant maintenance services; identifies staffing, equipment, and material needs; and allocates resources accordingly. 

• Provides leadership to ensure a high-performance, safety-focused, and team-oriented work environment aligned with departmental and City goals.  

• Participates in budget development; forecasts funding needs for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors expenditure; and recommends budget adjustments as needed. 

• Performs and oversees complex mechanical, electrical, and equipment maintenance and repair activities.  

• Oversees and supports the maintenance, reliability, and performance of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, including coordination with control technologies, operators, and IT staff to ensure system availability, alarm functionality, and integration with plant equipment and processes.  

• Monitors SCADA system trends, alarms, and performance data to identify equipment issues, support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensure timely response to system or equipment anomalies that may impact plant operations.   

• Monitors work sites to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures; responds to and resolves complex operational or equipment-related issues. 

• Inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with City standards, regulations, and operating procedures.  

• Serves as technical liaison with contractors, consultants, and engineers on mechanical and maintenance-related projects. 

• Maintains inventory of tools, equipment, parts, and supplies required for efficient plant maintenance operations.  

• Operates motorized equipment as required and performs physical and hand-on maintenance work in support of plant operations. 

• Prepares and maintains operational records, reports, and documentation related to maintenance activities.  

• Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices through training and professional development. 

• Performs related duties as assigned.

POLICE OFFICER - Academy Graduate - $8,419 to $11,416 per month (up to $13,128 with incentives)

Police Officers can serve in patrol, traffic, investigations, and K-9 assignments. Other collateral opportunities include instructor positions (Firearms and Force Options Team), Regional SWAT, Mobile Field Force, 10851 Task Force, CSI, Regional Major Accident Investigation Team, Driving Team with firearms and force options team, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), FBI Safe Streets Task Force, SET Team, Drone Team, Social Media Team, Community Resource Officer, School Resource Officer, and Field Training Officers. The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking two (2) qualified individuals with the passion and desire to work with youth campers as a summer Camp Coordinator (Recreation Program Specialist) in the Parks and Recreation Department.   This position takes direction from the Camp Director and reports to the City's full-time Recreation Coordinator.

Interviews for the Camp Coordinator positions will be done on an individual basis.  For consideration, please apply early for these opportunities.

MANDATORY TRAINING:  Must be available for paid training on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Additional training will occur int he mornings during the week of June 1 - June 5, 2026.

SUMMER CAMP SEASON:  Must be available for summer camp season June 1 - August 7, 2026.

WORK HOURS:  Work hours vary depending on the number of staff and youth participants.  Approximate work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Incumbents of the position will provide their own transportation to program site(s). 

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and Camp Director, Camp Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned summer day camp:  executing weekly curriculums by ordering supplies, supervising their camp staff, and leading all of their camp activities on a daily basis.  The City of Orinda offers two city-run camps:  Camp Orinda and Camp Orinda Jr.

Camp Orinda is a full-day (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) traditional camp for 6 to 11 year olds.

Camp Orinda Jr. is a half-day camp (9:15 am to 12:45 pm) for 3 1/2 to 5-year olds.

Essential Duties:

• Execute the camp curriculum in accordance with the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator.
• Lead arts, crafts and games according to the theme of the week.
• Participate in weekly camp debriefs with Camp Director.
• Offer leadership, guidance and direction to Camp Counselors.
• Supervise Counselors-in-Training (CIT), pair CIT's with experienced Camp Counselors, and delegate CIT weekly duties during CIT camp week.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers and communicate effectively with guardians and families.
• Safely and appropriately supervise all campers.  Camp Orinda Coordinator will supervise campers on weekly field trips around the East Bay.
• Monitor supplies and create weekly supply list.
• Ensure the health and safety of all campers are prioritized in all summer camp programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

All City of Orinda employees are expected to uphold and exhibit the City’s core values including serving the public, being respectful and accountable, maintaining professionalism, and demonstrating responsibility.

Education: Must have completed at least eleventh (11) grade or graduated from high school by the start of camp.  High school or college-level coursework in Recreation, Sports, Administration, Human Development, Education or related field is preferred.  

Experience: Recreation, athletics and/or education experience is desirable.  Experience teaching and/or working with children and youth age twelve (12) and under is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED training and/or certification are required prior to the first day of camp.  There will be a CPR, First Aid and AED training at the May 30, 2026 training for any staff that is not certified by this date.

Special Requirements:   This is a mandated reporter position.  Appointment to this position is contingent upon:

• A valid work permit issued from school (if under age 18 and have not graduated from high school or received a State Certificate of Proficiency).

The City of Newark is located in southern Alameda County at the east end of the Dumbarton Bridge, midway between Oakland and San Jose. We were incorporated in 1955 and have a five member City Council/Manager form of government. Our city is approximately 13 square miles with a population of just under 50,000. At the edge of Silicon Valley, growth of biotech, high-tech, and health sciences industries In Newark continue. We take pride in maintaining a small-town feel, while undergoing major housing and retail development projects.

THE POSITION:

The Newark Police Department is a modern, progressive law enforcement agency with 59 sworn and 27 professional staff employees.  The Newark Police Department values and rewards prior police experience.  Well qualified lateral officers have enjoyed specialty assignments and promotions based upon total law enforcement experience. State of the art safety equipment, including, individually issued patrol rifles with sighting systems, Ballistic Helmets, Smart Phones and an Armored Rescue Vehicle.

For well qualified officers, the Newark Police Department offers accelerated hiring and training programs, as well as numerous lateral entry incentives.  Our program is designed to recognize and reward your skills and experience, to include: $2500 academy reimbursement and $2500 for moving expenses. Well qualified laterals may be appointed to top salary range, and may transfer 120 hours of vacation and 100 hours of sick leave to Newark upon hire.

Numerous specialty assignments, most with premium pay incentives, to include: Detectives, Field Training Officer (FTO), Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), Traffic Division, School Resource Officers (SRO), Major Crimes Task Force, K-9, S.W.A.T. Team, Crowd Management Team (CMT), Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Team, Honor Guard, Firearms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor, and Taser Instructor.

Officers enjoy either a 3/12 or 4/10 work week, depending on assignment.
