The City of Simi Valley is looking for a dedicated, service-oriented, collaborative team leader in the Sanitation Services Division of the Public Works Department. The Plant Operations Supervisor leads and supervises Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations and is responsible for assigning and performing routine and complex work assignments. Positions in this classification rely on experience and judgment to perform assigned duties. Assignments are given with general guidelines from the Chief Plant Operator and incumbents are responsible for establishing realistic priorities, objectives, timelines, and methods for assigning and completing assignments. 
 

Details:

• Regular full-time position, alternating 9/80 work schedule with Monday or Friday off
• Salary range: $40.93 - $52.48 hourly (based on qualifications)

Qualifications for consideration: 

• Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in water science, chemistry, environmental science or a related field.
  • Four years of wastewater treatment plant operations experience including one year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility.
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid State of California Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Operator certificate, and the ability to obtain a Grade V Wastewater Treatment Operator certificate within one year of hire.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid CPR Certificate.

Minimum Qualifications for consideration - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental sciences or a related field. 

Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible wastewater treatment plant and collection system operations and maintenance experience including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. One year of Biological Nutrient Removal Treatment Processing is desirable.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a State of California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade V certificate is highly desirable.

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanics and electronics savvy Instrumentation Technician to join our Public Works Sanitation division. This position maintains, repairs, inspects, plans, modifies, designs, installs and calibrates instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA control systems for wastewater treatment facilities; maintains a spare parts inventory; and trains operations staff in the understanding of instrumentation and control systems related to the process operation.

Details:

• Full-time regular position, 9/80 schedule with every other Monday or Friday off.
• Salary range $35.80 to $45.70 hourly with Excellent Benefits.

Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in electronics or a related field.

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, fabrication and installation of instrumentation systems in a wastewater treatment system, water distribution, water processing, or other industrial process control environment.

Are you a skilled, motivated, and technically savvy professional looking to make a difference? The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a Plant & Equipment Mechanic to become an integral part of our team at the Hill Canyon Treatment Plant (HCTP). In this role, you'll perform a variety of challenging and rewarding tasks, including installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment critical to the plant’s operations. We're looking for a resourceful team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

• Identifies and performs a variety of maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and modifications on wastewater treatment plant mechanical equipment and facilities, including but not limited to:
  • Mechanical grinders, pumps, valves, engines, blowers, motorized valves actuators, lab equipment, air compressors, etc.
  • Industrial grade machinery, boilers, digester equipment, bulk chemical storage and delivery systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and devices.
  • Fabricates and or modifies equipment mounts, brackets, supports, utilizing welding, drilling, milling, tapping, etc. 

• Coordinates activities with operations personnel and contractors to ensure efficient and streamlined operations
• Completes and maintains maintenance logs on the City's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Responds to night and weekend emergency calls as needed

Description 

Under varying levels of supervision, performs maintenance and repair of City facilities, roads, streets, water and sewer maintenance activities and performs other duties essential to the maintenance of the City. Current and valid  water distribution certifications and Class A/B commercial drivers license are highly desirable. 

Classifications 

Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry-level class in the maintenance series. Under immediate supervision the applicant will perform semi-skilled labor and maintenance and repair. Salary $40,333.75 - $52,125.54 per year ($19.393 - $25.063 per hour) DOQ

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level class in the maintenance series. Under general supervision the applicant will perform semi-skilled and skilled labor and maintenance repair. Salary $44,680.45 - $57,743.03 per year ($21.484 - $27.758 per hour) DOQ

Maintenance Worker III: This is the senior level class in the maintenance series. Under limited supervision the applicant will organize, assign, review, and participate in the work of assigned personnel engaged in maintenance equipment operation work pertaining to building, maintenance and repair. Salary $48,664.92 - $62,892.37 per year ($23.399 - $30.234 per hour) DOQ
