To respond to fire alarms, medical emergency, and other emergency activities in the protection of life and property; and to participate in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Fire Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following are typical illustrations of duties encompassed by the job class, not an all-inclusive or limiting list:

Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose lines; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders.  Perform rescue operations in a variety of situations including but not limited to rescuing persons from areas threatened by fire, hazardous conditions, confined space, and active shooter/rescue task force events.  Provide basic life support during medical incidents, assessing and initiating patient care until relieved by proper medical personnel. Operate all types of portable fire extinguishers, hand tools, hose lines, power tools and appliances, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, emergency medical equipment and other rescue equipment. Participate in fire drills; serve as instructor as assigned; attend training sessions. Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Work cooperatively with others as integral part of a team.  Follow chain of command and be responsive to orders.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present and fit for duty.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to hazardous materials incidents and participate as member of the County Hazardous Materials Team. Shut down natural gas and electrical services to structure.  Participate in fire inspection activities and other fire prevention, community risk reduction, and public education activities as assigned.  Ensure that businesses are operating in compliance with the fire code. Participate in the programs providing various public relations services, including facility tours, public education seminars and other public events.  Respond to inquiries from the public.  Assist in investigating fire origin and cause.  May be requested to respond to emergencies during non-duty hours.  Control traffic.  Inventory supplies; maintain records. Can serve as “acting positions” when certified.  Clean station quarters and equipment and maintain a clean and orderly condition in and about the fire station; perform minor building maintenance.  Operate radio and communications equipment.  Assist in overhaul and salvage operations.  Learn a wide variety of firefighting duties, methods, and procedures including the operation of firefighting apparatus, equipment, and tools.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidates hired shall refrain from the use of all tobacco products during the term of their employment with the City, including smokeless tobacco products.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

High school diploma or equivalent.  College-level coursework in fire science, general management, or related field is desirable. Proof of completion of a Firefighter Academy may be required. 

Experience: 

Any experience that would likely provide the required ability is qualifying; firefighting experience is desirable.

 License or Certificate:

• Proof of valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (valid for one year from issuance date).
• Proof of validated written test completion given by recognized institution such as Fire Candidate Training Center (FCTC), the City of Woodland, or another accepted agency may be required.  

Required Upon Hire and Continued Employment:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
• Emergency Medical Technician Certificate
• Valid CPR certification.

$6,022.68 per month ($2,779.70 bi-weekly).  Upon successful completion of the Fire Academy, candidate eligible for salary increase to $6,691.85 per month ($3,088.55 bi-weekly)

Retirement:                          
CalPERS Retirement System (3% @ 50 Formula for Classic CalPERS members and 2.7% @ 57 Formula for new CalPERS members).  The City does not participate in social security

Choice of deferred compensation plans (Traditional and Roth).  After successful completion of probation, new hires are also eligible for a 2% City Contribution.

The City of Colfax is currently accepting applications for Maintenance Worker I. This is an entry level position in the Public Works department requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience in a semi-skilled maintenance occupation. Typical duties include: landscape maintenance, electrical and plumbing repairs, minor construction and light carpentry projects, cleaning public restrooms, keeping public streets and parks clean and in good repair. The City of Dixon is currently hiring for one (1) full-time position of Senior Maintenance Worker in the Parks Division of the Public Works Department. Performs semi-skilled and skilled repair, maintenance and landscaping tasks involving City parks including irrigation system installation and maintenance; conducts playground equipment inspection, maintenance and installation; performs graffiti removal; maintains swimming pools; performs pesticide, herbicide and fungicide spraying; tree and bush trimming to avoid pedestrian traffic, obstruction of traffic signs and line-of-sight; cleans and maintains park facilities, buildings and associated facilities; oversees and coordinates the work of contractors as it relates to park and streetscapes maintenance and construction. Positions operate equipment which include, but are not limited to, mowers, spray rigs, electric, air and hydraulic powered hand tools, hedge-shears, blowers, weed eaters, backhoes, trenchers, lift buckets, scrapers, chain saws, chippers and other heavy equipment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. The City of Dixon is looking to fill one full-time, regular position of Accountant in the Finance Department. This position performs professional level accounting functions such as recording and reporting financial transactions, review of financial records; provides fiscal control for assigned areas of operation, preparation of financial report statements and analyzes. This is not a remote position and work schedule will be Monday through Friday, onsite.

Accountant - This classification is the entry level, mid-management position in the accounting series. Professional level work is performed, and incumbents are expected to perform the full range of accounting duties with minimal supervision. Successful performance in this position requires a thorough knowledge of governmental accounting procedures and the ability to exercise sound judgement within established guidelines.
