This position is based at the Sunnyvale Recreation Center and supports the City’s Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Afterschool Program at four local elementary schools in partnership with the school district. The role also oversees the coordination of traditional summer camps, including staff training, mentorship, performance evaluations, and the development of program curriculum. Key responsibilities include monitoring enrollment trends and leading the camp planning and training committee. The Department

The Position

One position will be filled as either an Associate Landscape Architect or a lower level Landscape Architect/Designer II, depending upon qualifications and fit. Both positions will perform professional-level landscape architectural work related to the design, construction, and rehabilitation of landscape and irrigation for parks, landscaped areas, and street and urban design projects. In addition, the Associate level incumbent will serve as project manager, team leader and/or supervisor, and consultant manager for site development of city facilities and private developments.

Examples of Job Duties

• Using prescribed methods and procedures, incumbents perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced landscape architect.
• Prepare plans for planting, irrigation, site plans, grading, and layout for parks and median projects.
• Review and approve minor site development plans submitted for development approval for conformance with plans, specifications, and ordinances.
• Grant application and administration.

The Position

The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will: coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks, landscaped areas and street beautification projects; inspect and review the work of developers and consultants for conformance with plans, specifications, and City requirements; prepare and administer grants and give professional advice on landscape matters.

Examples of Job Duties

• Organize and oversee the landscape design and layout of parks, recreational areas, roadway medians and pedestrian ways.
• Plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of professional City and contract staff.
• Perform professional landscape architectural work including preparing landscape plans, coordinating master plan development, performing park planning, and preparing related specifications, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Recommend design direction on high-profile urban design of public and private projects that impact landscape design and urban projects within the City.

allcove™ https://allcove.org/ is a youth drop-in center model that has evolved from the Head Space Program in Australia and Foundry Program in British Columbia, Canada. PHCD is working closely with Stanford’s Center for Youth Mental Health and Well Being (CYMHWB) leadership who have been instrumental in defining the model for California and successfully influencing the State of California Mental Health Services & Oversight Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) to provide start up grants for five pilot centers around the State.
