DESCRIPTION:
Silicon Valley Power, Maps & Records department has an excellent opportunity for the position of Engineering Aide (Electric). Job responsibilities include, prepares scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering estimating personnel, maintains records of as-builts and updates existing SVP maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, Maintains master map files, including such records of block maps, street light maps, fiber communication, electric utility single line and operating diagrams and other maps, Performs computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involved in checking drawings of electric utility facilities, perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Under general supervision:
• Participates in field survey activities such as assisting with measuring and recording distances and elevation using Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment
• Prepares maps and drawings using geographic information system (GIS) tools to place symbols and apply color codes for the identification of facilities
• Receives, reviews, provides comments, files, and returns maps, documents, and plans using AUTOCAD
• Performs scaling and dimensioning to verify the accuracy of maps and plans
• Assists in conducting field inventory of existing primary and secondary conductors, transformers, switches, poles, pole attachments, manholes, and conduit locations
• Draws and updates electrical schematic diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, substation layout drawings using AUTOCAD, and organizes associated documentation
• Prepares scaled and dimensioned plans, using AUTOCAD based on sketches prepared by engineering/estimating personnel
• Operates a computer and standard office plotting/copying equipment
• Conducts records research including job files, property ownership, easement and right-of-way records
• Maintains records of equipment databases, log books, and map inventories
• Operates passenger vehicles requiring Class C driver's license
• Orders office drafting supplies, manages outside reproduction services, and coordinates vendor services for office drafting equipment maintenance
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited junior college with an Associate of Arts degree or higher in engineering or its equivalent, including satisfactory completion of college level courses in writing, mathematics, engineering and related courses; and
• One (1) year working with geographic information system (GIS) tools and systems or one (1) year working with computer-aided drafting (AUTOCAD).
 
Desirable Qualifications:
• One year (1) experience working with computer-aided drafting (AUTOCAD) and one year (1) experience working with geographic information system (GIS).
• Completion of courses in GIS and AUTOCAD.
 
Possible Substitutions:
• Three (3) years of work experience performing mapping/drafting activities of electric utility facilities, involving the use of CAD and GIS systems and tools may substitute for the required education and experience.
 
LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Employees are required to pass initial and periodic comprehensive background checks, which may include fingerprinting, to meet Federal, State and/or industry security requirements.
• Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED

 

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

• The equivalent of two (2) years of paid employment experience in public safety dispatching within the past five (5) years of which at least one (1) year included solo status; or
• Five (5) years of current paid employment with a public safety agency or private emergency medical services agency, with high level Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio and/or telephone operation; or
• Successful completion of probationary period as a Public Safety Dispatcher I with the City of Santa Clara.

 

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a current P.O.S.T. Basic Dispatch certificate is required.

 

Other Requirements:  

• Incumbents must have the ability to work, as assigned, on schedules that may include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and non-traditional work hours.
• Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.  All candidates will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting and/or psychological testing.

Under Accounts Payable Lead Senior Accountant's direction: - process assigned invoices for timely payment by promptly and accurately entering invoices into Infor Payables system, resolve invoice, purchase order and receiver document matching discrepancies and reconcile assigned vendor accounts; - coordinate and process weekly check run on a rotational basis; - issue and disburse checks; respond to A/P and general accounting inquiries from vendors and employees; - administer petty cash reimbursements to employees and reconcile petty cash fund; - scan and upload accounts payable documents and; - perform other accounting projects as assigned; - provide customer service to vendors and Valley Water employees.

The Position:
The Recreation Specialist is the highest classification in the Recreation Leader series.  An incumbent in this class possesses technical expertise in a specialty such as cultural arts, physical fitness, drama, older adults, athletics, therapeutics, music, pre school, day camp, teen activities, and youth sports and is responsible for the planning, development, and supervision of a specialized activity phase of recreation programs .  With general policy and departmental philosophy guidance from a supervisor, an incumbent exercises sound independent judgment in the performance of duties. • One thousand (1000) hours of experience in recreation leadership at the level of Recreation Leader III in general recreation programs such as day camp, sports, teens, older adults, and theater; and
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application

Possible Substitutions
• Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university, preferably with an emphasis in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field may be substituted for the required experience

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of the following is desirable:
• A valid California Class C driver's license
• A valid American Red Cross First Aid certificate

ABOUT THE POSITION

Overview:

The Senior Environmental Planner serves as an environmental compliance lead for critical infrastructure projects that provide safe, clean water to Santa Clara County. This role carries out environmental review and permitting for complex operations and maintenance activities for the Water Utility Enterprise, which includes the pipeline maintenance program. Examples of projects are stream gage improvements, pipeline turnout repairs, pump replacements, and culvert repairs. The planner will also provide expert oversight for other projects as needed.

This is a leadership position that will play a role in developing and executing integrated environmental strategies that protect and restore watersheds, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance the long-term sustainability of Valley Water’s operations and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• CEQA Analysis– Managing the preparation and review of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) analyses to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Permitting Development of permit strategy for local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies. This includes the development of permit submittals for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Army Corp of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, and Valley Habitat Agency.
• Mitigation Monitoring & Reporting – Overseeing the preparation and submission of mitigation reports and compliance documentation related to various efforts, as well as other environmental permits. This includes compliance with the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan.
• Regulatory Compliance & Oversight – Serve as a subject matter expert in environmental planning, ensuring that operations and maintenance activities meet all relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Interdepartmental Coordination – Strive for consistency with other Valley Water projects and programs by collaborating with other environmental planners and maintaining alignment with Quality and Environmental Management System (QEMS) protocols and other internal procedures.

• Seven (7) years of professional-level environmental planning or related experience evaluating the impact of proposed public works, capital projects, or facilities in the community and the environment.

• Experience in preparing compliance reports.
• Experience in project management.

Ideal Training and Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental studies, environmental planning, city and regional planning, environmental science, natural resources management, geography, or a closely related field.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite.

The Department:
The Parks Division provides planning, development, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of City parks and open spaces. The Recreation Division provides classes and programs for all ages and abilities. We aim to promote the use of safe, clean, and attractive facilities for enjoyment and quality of life for all ages and abilities. The Cemetery Division maintains 33,000 internment sites in a peaceful public park.  
 
The Position:
Providing customer service at Recreation Facility Front Desk (CRC, YAC, Senior Center, Reed & Grant Sports Park, Warburton and ISC Pools). The job responsibilities include data input, processing program registrations, opening and closing the desk reception area and keeping accurate records of daily sales. Daily check in of patrons, adhering to established protocols and ensuring the safety of customers as they enter and exit the facilities. Work assignment shifts will include, days, evenings and weekends.

 As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours.  Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants

The Recreation Office Assistant has an emphasis on performing a variety of clerical and customer service duties at a recreation facility.  An incumbent in this classification is responsible for demonstrating a high level of customer service while performing basic clerical duties including financial transactions, maintaining documents, and assisting others.  Assignments are generally limited in scope, contain fairly routine duties, and are performed within a procedural framework established by higher-level employees.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
• Six (6) months of general clerical or customer service experience; and
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is desirable

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• As a condition of employment, incumbents will be required to be fingerprinted in accordance with State of California law
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment
