Position Summary

Under general direction of the Deputy General Manager of Bus, the Bus Transit division, contributes to the mission of Golden Gate Transit by ensuring that Golden Gate Transit has the best possible trained Bus Operators. This position will monitor Bus Operator instructors, including observing the road operations to ensure adherence to Operating and Safety Policy and Procedures; monitor Bus Operators for safe operations of vehicles, uniform compliance; and enforcement of District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. It will also monitor and document Bus Operator Students’ performance, responds to and investigate accidents.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversees training classes for newly hired bus operators, including obstacle course, classroom and “over the road” instruction by delivering standardized curriculum.
• Monitors classroom curriculum, including itinerary, lesson plans, training and testing materials and implement training for newly hired and existing bus operators and for other bus training requirements.
• Oversees the following training: 
  1. Refresher training for bus operators returning to work after extended absence. 
  2. Verification of Transit Training Classes for existing bus operators and other commercially licensed employees who need to maintain V.T.T. status. 
  3. Re-train bus operators as directed by disciplinary hearings on accidents or rule violations. 
  4. Trains Driver Instructors and Transportation Supervisors on new equipment and provide them with outlines and checklists. 
  5. ADA training for persons with disabilities in partnership with passenger relations and planning department. 
• Acts as designated D.M.V. examiner in the testing and certification of bus operators and/or coordinates with D.M.V. to get student operators V.T.T. cards and license conversations.
• Ensures maintenance of complete and accurate documentation on every facet of training and testing for each student as required and mandated by state and federal governments.
• Monitors progressive trainees and performs regular individual coaching/counseling and progress evaluations of student operators. 
• Provides training and guidance as well as work assignments to Driver Training Instructors
• Supervises Bus Operators fitness -for -duty as they report to work, including observing for divergencies from normal behavior patterns, uniform appearance, grooming and possessions of driving credentials and medical card.
• Works with the Director of Transit Training and Safety on compliance with D.O.E., D.O.T., and D.M.V. training and documentation requirements
• Prepares and/or attends D.M.V. or CHP audits.
• Handles terminations and separations of trainees who fail to meet minimum standards during the program.
• Coordinates local Bus Roadeos, represents GGT as necessary and assist in the structure and the presentation of the annual Regional Bus Roadeo
• Instructs and monitors operations of G.F.I farebox and radio systems.
• Performs driver safety observations by riding on board buses or observing from a moving vehicle or fixed location and provide written reports on these observations. 
• Issues infractions for violations of safety policy and procedures as well as testifies on training or related fields at bus operator hearings, arbitrations, or trials. 
• Ensure employees under their supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Assists in collision investigations as required or requested.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors, and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience equivalent to:

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation studies, public administration, education, or related field. Additional qualifying position-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of the education requirement.
• Position requires a minimum of five-years commercial driving experience as an inter-city transit Full Time Bus Operator.
• In addition, must have two-years of classroom training and/or instruction experience and three-years supervisory experience that includes staffing, counseling, coaching, training, motivating and disciplining others. 
• Must have intermediate and proficient computer skills. including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Computer aided dispatching software experience is preferred.
• Experience in traffic collision investigation and or safety enforcement is preferred. 
• Experience as a Transit Transportation Supervisor is desirable.
• Must be available to work weekends and nights.

The Manager, Track & Structures reports to the Deputy Director of Infrastructure Engineering and is responsible for overseeing railroad track and structures engineering support for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain)

Essential Functions & Duties:

Essential Functions:

• Acts as agency lead on matters related to track and structures.
• Oversee the track and structures engineering tasks for design/construction of Caltrain Capital and SOGR projects and provide technical support for planning on grade separation projects.
• Ensure the capital and maintenance projects comply with the contract agreement and implement the approved design for compliance with JPB standards and specifications. 
• Lead the advanced technical reviews of projects to assess constructability, examine design details, perform quantity audit, and recommend construction sequencing.
• Establish effective relationships and liaise with Caltrain operation contractors, consultants, internal departments, and other agencies (CPUC, FRA, UPRR, etc.) on railroad track and structures related to influence design and project development.
• Supervise staff.  Hire, mentor and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action.  Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Participate in selection of staff. Coordinate staff training and professional development. Establish performance objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance.

Examples of Essential Duties: 

• Plan, develop and implement the group’s work plan, budget, goals, and objectives to be consistent with the Engineering Department’s goals.
• Manage the design review of project documentation such as drawings, basis of design, specifications, technical reports, and calculations for compliance with Caltrain Standards and for cost effectiveness of the design. 
• Lead development of potential solutions to the design/construction team and presents for design optimization, risk management challenges, and constructability improvements.
• Assist with Maintenance Department to develop the annual and long-term railroad track engineering and maintenance plans, coordinate these plans with capital projects and support to implement the plans.
• Review and provide technical input for capital and maintenance projects for compliance and cost effectiveness of the design.
• Perform QA reviews of RFIs and submittals as well as participate in change order review and final inspections to construction. 
• Ensure track and structures comply with all return-to-service requirements following all construction activities.
• Review and evaluate project specific designs and provide technical recommendations to design variance approval process.

• Responsible for updates to Caltrain Engineering Standards.

San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is seeking an experienced Patient Services Specialist (PSS) - Extra-Help.
 
The successful hire will support the clinical team with all registration, eligibility, enrollment, authorization, other administrative tasks, and Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) activities for SMMC. The PSS serves as the ambassador for SMMC to validate information and educate our patients and guests with the financial process upon arrival to the facility. The PSS verifies all demographic information, validates eligibility, obtain authorizations, collects co-payments, assist with all payor notifications and communication, and enroll patients if needed. The hire will be expected to work holidays and rotating weekends, if needed, to support department needs.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical terminology and medical insurance requirements to individuals with varying levels of medical knowledge. Additionally, they should have strong skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will also be able to collaborate effectively with the clinical team, work with challenging patients, and assist those who may have language or communication barriers. This position requires keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be flexible and available for various shifts throughout the week.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Secretary of the District, performs complex and highly analytical work for the Secretary of the District, members of the Board of Directors and associated committees.   Departmental lead on government tort claims, legal documents and communications and participating in complex, sensitive, and detailed analytical work in the areas of budgets, historical preservation and economic, regulatory and administrative policy. Provides internal customer service by assisting managers and executive level staff in complex analysis.  This position requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion, confidentiality, excellent communication skills, and robust customer service skills. 
 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Serves as the primary analytical support to the District Secretary;
• Interprets meeting proceedings and prepares draft meeting minutes, with minimal oversight and as assigned, may attend meetings in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs legal functions of the office and guidance to office staff in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs a wide variety of complex legal analysis, research and briefings about claims for the District, Bridge, Bus and Ferry Divisions, and works with legal counsel in the areas such as government tort claims, subpoenas, Brady requests, small claims and lawsuits;
• Provides a wide variety of complex, confidential analytical duties in support of the District Secretary, Board of Directors, and standing Board committees;
• Independently composes, researches, compiles, summarizes, and prepares a variety of complex correspondence, reports and documents; reviews finished materials for completeness and accuracy; ensures documents comply with District standards, policies and procedures;
• Perform special studies for the District, and coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, and divisions, and outside entities;
• Independently responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints;
• Coordinates and assists in the development of the annual budgets of the Board and District Secretary’s Office and monitors, reviews and approves department expenditures, and performs financial analysis for budgetary purposes;
• Assists the District Secretary with providing direct support in varied, analytical administrative projects related to the Board and its committees;
• Independently prepares and presents a variety of oral and written reports, correspondence, and statistical analyses with extreme attention to detail and accuracy;
• Works with Procurement to select vendors and purchase department services as needed for projects, and participates on panels for various District procurements especially those related to the District’s third party administrators for public liability and workers compensation, insurance advisors and e-document conversion;
• Has an in-depth understanding of the department’s functions and especially its role with the Board of Directors such as the steps involved in planning and executing Board events and maintaining key Board documents such as Rules of the Board, Master Ordinance and record of the Board’s proceedings;
• Autonomously draft client correspondence and legal documents, using proper format and appropriate language and content;
• Oversees newspaper advertisements for public hearings/meetings;
• Monitors activities and ensures maintenance of files related to insurance and accident claim matters to fulfill department records retention schedule;
• Engages with a wide variety of District representatives including the Board of Directors, Executive Team, mid-managers and staff in a wide variety of roles including those engaged in specialized trades;
