The Position: Learning Facilitators will be responsible for leading high-quality and connected learning experiences with children and collaborating with the other staff in a classroom environment for the Big Lift Summer Program. Learning Facilitators will establish and maintain an environment that embraces the growth mindset, actively facilitate open-ended, child-directed projects, and look for every opportunity to embrace and incorporate youth creativity.
 
Inspiring Summers Camps: The camps serve children reading below grade level in areas where the majority of youth qualify for free or reduced lunch. Staff working intensively with enrolled youth will have the opportunity to make our community a stronger, healthier, and more equitable place. These summer learning experiences are a critical part of San Mateo County's strategy to dramatically reduce the number of youth who cannot read on grade level, a problem that disproportionately affects youth of color and socioeconomically disadvantaged youth. Help us support youth in a summer program aimed to build confident youth who will have the benefit of high-quality, cutting-edge learning experiences with caring and passionate adults.
 
Location: Big Lift Inspiring Summer Learning Facilitators will be assigned to work at one of eight camps with children who will be entering kindergarten, first, second, or third grade in the Fall. The camps are located in Daly City, Half Moon Bay, Millbrae, Pacifica, Pescadero, San Bruno, and South San Francisco.
 
Schedule: This 6 to 7-week internship will begin with 8 days of required training and will then continue with a 4 to 5-week assignment in one of our learning camps. The camp assignment will either be part-time (20-28 hours per week, 4-5 hours per day Monday-Thursday and all day on Friday) or full-time (35-40 hours per week, 7-8 hours per day Monday-Friday).
 
MANDATORY IN-PERSON TRAINING WILL BEGIN TUESDAY, MAY 26, OR MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2025, depending on site placement.

Qualifications

 

These positions are designed to support college-aged students, recent graduates, and paraprofessionals working in youth education.
 
Education or Experience: Experience working with youth or a demonstrated interest in working with youth. Examples include experience coaching, tutoring, providing childcare, and taking child development coursework. Experience in theater, arts, music, youth development, early childhood, social justice, and science is also preferred.

San Mateo County Parks is currently seeking a part time (20 hours/week) extra help Interpretive Specialist Intern for the Department’s Interpretive Division.

The Interpretive Division has an environmental education and community engagement focus. The Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) Division is seeking an experienced individual to serve as a Mental Health Program Specialist for the Prenatal to Three Unit.  

This position coordinates and supervises a specialized behavioral health program serving pregnant and postpartum caregivers and children ages 0-5, provides clinical leadership, supervises a small team of professionals and interns, collaborates with community partners and helps design and maintain responsive service delivery systems.

Key Responsibilities 

Clinical Supervision & Leadership

• Supervise Clinicians and interns, including case consultation, reflective supervision, and performance evaluations
• Triage referrals and assign cases
• Refer clients to the Prenatal to Three Team Psychiatrist

San Mateo County Health's Aging and Disability Services Division is seeking qualified individuals for the unclassified and limited-term positions of In-Home Supportive Services Social Worker I/II/III. Social Workers provide a wide variety of welfare services in such areas as information and referral, protective services, out-of-home services, health related services, chore services, and other welfare services within the Health and the Human Services Agency.

 
Currently, there are three limited-term vacancies and an unclassified vacancy in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program. The program provides in-home care for persons who cannot safely remain in their own home without such assistance. The recipients of IHSS are aged, blind and/or disabled and eligible for Medi-Cal. Disabled and/or blind minor children may also be eligible for IHSS. The Social Worker will make a home visit to determine eligibility for the program and to conduct an assessment to determine a range of service hours for particular tasks. The IHSS recipient or guardian is the IHSS employer and is responsible for hiring and supervising a provider for the care they receive. The Social Worker will travel throughout the County to conduct home visits, attend meetings and perform other duties of the position. 9180 Senior Operations Manager of Rail Maintenance: Under policy direction of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Director of Transit, the Senior Operations Manager of Rail Maintenance plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the major activities of the Rail Maintenance unit. The Rail Maintenance unit represents more than 8 maintenance sections with skilled craft personnel responsible for the service, maintenance and repair of fleet comprised of more than 250 light rail vehicles, cable cars, and historic street cars including support facilities. 

9180 - Manager VI: Senior Operations Manager of Maintenance: The positions are responsible for leading overall vehicle and equipment maintenance, collaborating with fleet engineering for rubber-tire and/or rail cars, developing vehicle fleet plans to support revenue service requirements and monitoring activities related to vehicle procurement. These positions direct activities to ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines, safety and regulatory policies including leading investigation of activities directly related to field safety and overall vehicle maintenance.

The 9180 Senior Operations Managers of Maintenance are responsible for implementing programs and processes to enhance all aspects heavy and light-duty transit vehicles, and/or light rail and historic service. These positions provide leadership and guidance to a team of skilled craft personnel and supervisors, deliver highly complex management and policy support, and may be required to perform duties in the absence of the Deputy Director of Fleet Maintenance. The positions are subject to 24-hour callback during emergency situations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Bus and Rail Maintenance:

• Provides direction, planning and management of the daily activities of Transit’s Bus/Rail Maintenance section and coordinates the work of professional and technical personnel;
• Oversees heavy-duty transit vehicle maintenance/ light rail vehicle maintenance by monitoring daily fleet availability and vehicle maintenance reports for trends and coordinates with supervisory staff to ensure maintenance programs are developed and implemented to ensure vehicle availability;
• Ensures adherence to heavy-duty transit, light rail, historic, and/or cable car vehicle safety programs and re-evaluates existing programs;
• Assists in developing and implementing strategies for safe, accessible and reliable transit service;
• Analyzes operations to improve productivity within various work sections;
• Coordinates workforce planning through staffing analysis and required adjustments to work schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum efficiency for fulfillment of vehicle service requirements and demands;
• May be involved with the design and review of engineering plans and specifications for SFMTA vehicle procurement plans and construction projects;
• Oversees the training function including the development of new training programs for rail staff;
• Develops, implements and evaluates policies and procedures to ensure unit activities align with division objectives;
• Assists in the development, preparation and modification of short and long-range strategic plans in support of the SFMTA’s goals;

How to qualify

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; AND
2. Experience: Eight (8) years of experience at a mass transit agency in the operation, maintenance, and repair of transit buses, and/or light rail transit vehicles, and/or related systems, and/or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.  This experience must include at least four (4) years in a second-level supervisory and/or management-level position with responsibility for supervising staff. AND
3. License: Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Substitution: Additional qualifying experience in the functional areas listed above at any level (i.e., non-supervisory, any supervisory level, management level) may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for year basis. One year (2,000 hours) will be considered equivalent to thirty semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units.
