The Position

This position is part of the Food Waste Reduction team, which works to reduce food loss and waste while supporting soil health, local economies, and access to nutritious food.

The Program Manager I supports program implementation, partnerships, and technical assistance related to food waste prevention and edible food recovery. This includes working with consultants and grantees, coordinating pilot projects, developing resources, supporting SB 1383 compliance, and directly engaging with local governments, businesses, schools, and community partners.

This role is ideal for someone who can manage projects independently while collaborating across teams and with external partners. The Program Manager I will take ownership of discrete program components, operating under the direction of a Senior Program Manager while supporting broader team initiatives.

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. This is a great opportunity to train and develop individuals in a unique, private environment with a dedicated and passionate team to support our mission.

Skywalker Holdings has several locations. The Fire Brigade operates at The Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, Nicasio, CA. Skywalker is a private organization that operates 5,000 acres of wildland urban interface land with various types of infrastructure within it. At the Presidio (San Francisco, CA) there are numerous buildings that are also included in the prevention responsibilities. The Ranch operates numerous buildings, smaller organization and other operations within the that support the greater vision of Skywalker Properties Ltd.  

Schedule:

This position will work a semi-flexible 40hr work week as to oversee and manage 3 shifts who are on a 48/96 work schedule. Flexibility is determined by the President and subject to department need as well attending any critical meetings with leadership teams. Remote work hours may be included in the flexibility.

Although rare, there are times when the Chief might have to back-fill staffing and/or provide staffing on apparatus due to non-fillable vacancies or training needs.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director of Projects, the Director of Programming and Project Controls will plan, organize, manage, and provide administrative direction and oversight for all activities of the Programming and Project Controls Department; coordinate assigned projects, programs, and activities with other Alameda CTC staff, local agencies, regional transportation agencies, and state, and federal agencies; provides complex staff assistance to the Deputy Executive Director of Projects in areas of expertise; and perform related work as required.

Under general direction of the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager plans, organizes, manages and provides direction for Finance activities including cash management, financial analysis, accounts payable and receivable, grants management, payroll and benefit administration, and financial reporting; performs difficult and complex professional and technical finance work related to the processing of financial transactions and preparing and reconciling financial and accounting records and reporting; ensures regulatory compliance with governmental accounting standards; maintains and improves the accounting system; provides highly complex and responsible support to the Director of Finance in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.

Definition

To attend a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) approved Police Basic Recruit Academy and successfully complete the academic and physical training required for appointment to the classification of Police Officer.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is a trainee level classification which provides transition into the position of Police Officer. Police Officer Trainees are hired into this civilian position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST certified police academy. Upon successful completion of training at an academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer Recruit II position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer Recruit II.

Supervision Received

Receives close supervision and evaluation on a daily basis by academy staff. Limited supervision by department training supervisor and/or manager during regular academy visits.

Essential Job Functions

Ability to:

• Successfully complete all academy requirements.
• Observe accurately and remember names, faces, numbers, incidents and places.
• Make rapid, sound independent judgements within legal and procedural guidelines.
• Remaining calm and have the ability to control own emotions in tense situations.

The City of Newark is currently accepting applications for Lateral Police Officers and Academy Graduates.

THE POSITION:

The Police Officer Trainee position is an entry level position, requiring no prior law enforcement experience. Applicants are required to possess a valid California Driver’s License, be legally authorized to work in the U.S and be at least 21 years old at time of swear-in. All applicants must possess a strong moral character, as well as good work ethic and maturity. All candidates will be required to undergo comprehensive testing processes to determine their physical and mental suitability for a career in Law Enforcement.

The Police Officer Trainee is a temporary employee.  The trainee attends a P.O.S.T. certified academy.  Upon successful completion of the academy, the trainee will be eligible for appointment to the position of Police Officer.  New Police Officers will receive benefits available to regular employees and will serve an 18-month probationary period.
