Distinguishing Characteristics: 

Under general supervision, the Recreation Aide assists in the proper use of a community recreational facility and assist Recreation Leaders in providing a variety of recreation programs. The City of Union City's Community and Recreation Services is seeking staff for the following roles:

• Lifeguard (Recreation Leader) - $17.14 - $20.84/hourly
  • Under general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, Senior Lifeguard or Pool Manager, the Lifeguard performs swim instructor duties in teaching swimming and water safety courses, enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct.  Lifeguards must have knowledge and be physically able to perform emergency rescue and lifesaving techniques. Must have basic customer service practices and knowledge of all current safety standards and information related to aquatics. Must assist in teaching swimming lessons and lifeguarding.

• Pool Manager (CRS Program Manager) - $19.93 -$24.22/hourly
  • Under general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, able to perform all duties and responsibilities of a Lifeguard and Senior Lifeguard, assist in staff meetings and lifeguard trainings, direct contact for participants to explain pool rules, policies, and procedures. Pool Manager assists in implementing and scheduling staff, program, and services.

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Housing Development Specialist (Community Development Project Coordinator)! In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of the team responsible for implementing the City’s Housing Trust Fund and Small Sites Programs. This position will work on renovations and new construction projects, the latter of which will include developments at the North Berkeley and Ashby BART sites. The City of American Canyon Parks & Recreation Department invites energetic, creative and responsible individuals to apply for the position of Program Coordinator. Program Coordinators are part-time, temporary staff members who work under Recreation Coordinators to oversee and implement a wide range of recreation programming. Program Coordinators may be asked to provide recreation leadership, supervision, and assistance in various recreation programs, including day camp, youth and adult sports, special events and outdoor spaces.

This position is well-suited for applicants with experience as a Recreation Leader or Youth Leader, can work independently, and effectively lead staff members.

Being a Program Coordinator can include working shifts that are scheduled during early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays all year around.  This is a position that is considered temporary/part-time and employees are limited to no more than 980 hours per fiscal year.

THE POSITION:

Senior Management Analyst II – this class is the full journey level class and is experienced to work independently in identifying the need for and developing changes to operating practices, systems, programs and policies.  Incumbents perform the full array of duties within the area of assignment, including complex analytical projects and providing staff support to department administration and city officials as well as working with high degree of independence in interacting with all levels of city employees, managers, elected officials, community groups, and other governmental agencies and the public.

• Teach and explain the rules and regulations of basketball.
• Confer with other coaches/referees, players and facility managers in order to provide information, coordinate activities, and discuss problems.
• Score keep basketball league games as assigned.
• Maintain gymnasium area including equipment and facility.
• Meet and deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
• Perform other job-related duties within the scope of this job classification as assigned.
