The City of Brisbane is seeking a Financial Services Manager to join our dynamic finance team. Under general direction of the Finance Director, provides supervision to the Finance staff and performs a wide range of complex professional accounting duties in the analysis, preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports; makes complex and difficult account analyses and reports; develops, implements and revises accounting systems, procedures and internal controls; coordinates the outside audit preparation of the comprehensive annual financial report; coordinates various automated accounting systems and modules and trains accounting staff in the use of such systems; and performs related duties as assigned.

This position class is at the management level and performs diverse and specialized accounting work that is complex and involves significant accountability and decision-making responsibility. The Financial Services Manager is responsible for supervising accounting staff and managing areas such as payroll, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, grant accounting, capital project accounting, fixed asset accounting, enterprise fund accounting, and other accounting-related activities for all City funds.

Example of Duties: (Illustrative Only)

• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Finance department.
• Manages the timely and accurate preparation of budgeting documents and financial reports, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, and participates as an active member of the Budget Team.
• Prepares complex journal entries and reviews and approves financial transactions, including journal entries, accounts payable invoices, revenue collection, accounts receivable billing, payroll postings, and purchasing documents. Prepares a variety of monthly, periodic and annual financial and statistical reports and accounting summaries required by the City, Successor Agency and outside agencies.
• Coordinates financial reporting and auditing activity with external auditors and other agencies; researches, compiles and analyzes data; prepares reports as required.
• Oversees fixed assets accounting to ensure accurate fixed asset records and provides information for capital and operating budgets.
• Assists in preparing financial reports and other information required by City departments and external agencies.
• Prepares audit schedules and reconciliations; responds to inquiries from auditors and provides information within the area of assignment. Provides professional, technical accounting and budget advice to City staff; coordinates activities with other departments; assists in special projects as assigned.
• Coordinates and conducts financial and management analyses, studies, assignments and projects, and performs ad-hoc analyses for the Council and senior management.
• Assists in rate and fee studies; makes related recommendations to senior management.
• Trains, motivates and assists in evaluating personnel; assists in establishing and monitoring employee performance objectives; assists in the preparation of employee performance reviews; provides and coordinates staff training.
• Provides backup support to the Finance Director; may provide occasional or emergency backup to the Information Technology & Systems Manager.

The Position

The Community Relations Manager/Public Information Officer is a full-time management position that reports directly to the City Manager and is part of the City Manager’s Office. The Public Information and Community Relations Division is responsible for providing information to the general public about the programs, projects, and policies of the City Council and City government.

This position is a key member of the City’s Executive Team given the unique position of being a liaison to citizens, businesses, schools, and non-profits in the City.

Under direction of the City Manager, Community Relations is responsible for the City’s cable TV franchise agreements, serving as a liaison with civic organizations, and providing staff support to the Civic Action Commission and Education Commission.

The Public Information function includes providing timely and accurate information to residents, businesses, the media, and others about City services and programs. Significant use of digital communication tools, including the City's website, social media platforms, and the City Channel, is a central aspect of the position. In addition, the role oversees and coordinates production of the Outlook, the City’s printed community newsletter, as well as communications related to special events.

Assisting the Mayor with official communications, sharing information from other organizations regarding upcoming events, providing tours of City Hall and serving as the point of contact for community organizations, providing staff support to City commissions and City Council meetings, and coordinating environmental programs are all aspects of this role that create an interesting, rewarding, and stimulating variety of work.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for the Community Relations Manager/Public Information Officer is $142,044—$188,880. Placement in this range is dependent upon qualifications.

• Retirement – The City participates in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) under a 2% @ 60 formula for Classic Members. The City contributes 3% to a 401(a) plan as well as $200/month to an Retirement Health Saving (RHS) plan. Voluntary Roth IRA & 457 plans available.
• Medical Benefit – The City offers two choices for coverage—Kaiser or Health Net. The City pays 75% of the Kaiser monthly premium at each coverage level. 
• Medical in Lieu –  The City will contribute $400 (employee only coverage) or $500 (employee + 1 coverage) or $600 (family coverage) in cash, or a contribution to a 457 deferred compensation plan, in lieu of medical coverage.
• Dental & Vision: City-paid for employee and eligible dependents.

About the role:                                                                                    

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Special Events and Cultural Arts is responsible for leading the planning, production, and oversight of the City’s signature special events, while also supporting Redwood City’s cultural arts programming. From large-scale downtown festivals and concerts to cultural celebrations, family events, and community gatherings featured on www.RedwoodCityEvents.com, this position helps ensure that our parks, plazas, and public spaces remain active, welcoming, and full of life.

This role oversees the full lifecycle of major community events, including concept development, budgeting, sponsorship coordination, vendor and performer booking, permitting, logistics, safety planning, marketing coordination, and on-site production. Signature events such as outdoor concert series, holiday celebrations, cultural festivals, movie nights, and destination activations require thoughtful coordination with Police, Fire, Public Works, Economic Development, and community partners. Camp Newark is seeking a confident, creative, and organized leader to serve as an Activity Coordinator for our dynamic summer camp program. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in high-energy environments and are passionate about creating meaningful experiences for youth ages 6–11. 

The Activity Coordinator plays a key leadership role in planning and delivering engaging daily programming while supporting and supervising camp staff. This position requires strong communication, organization, and leadership skills, along with the ability to create a fun, structured, and safe camp environment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Create, schedule, and implement creative camp activities for youth ages 6–11, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and STEM-based enrichment. 

• Lead, mentor, and evaluate camp counselors, including training and delegating responsibilities. 

• Coordinate daily camp schedules, special events, and field trips. 

• Maintain clear and professional communication with parents regarding camper experiences and program information.

GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, part-time, at-will position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.  
 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment. 

• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas. 

• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms. 

• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements. 

• Perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure facility safety and upkeep. 

• Enforce policies, maintain discipline, and provide customer service to patrons. 

• Monitor and report facility issues and potential hazards. 

• Assist with special events and activities as needed. 

• Respond to and resolve patron inquiries and complaints. 

• Participate in safety training and emergency procedures. 

• Monitor facility rentals and provide customer service as needed. 

• Lift and move, routinely and regularly, up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving over 60 pounds. Duties also include repetitive pushing; pulling; crawling; climbing; and prolonged periods of standing, lifting above the shoulders, working off a ladder, manual dexterity, and maintaining good vision and hearing. 

• Perform other duties as assigned. 

CAMP COUNSELOR (Illustrative purposes only)

• Ensure participant’s safety and well-being through sound decision-making.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful program culture.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to participants.
• Model positive behavior, communication, and problem-solving with staff, contractors, participants, families, and the public.
  Facilitate age-appropriate activities, crafts, games, and sports as assigned. 
• Work effectively with individuals or groups.
• Assist with participant check-ins, check-outs, and transitions between activities.
• Manage inventory, set up, and clean up activity materials.
• Report incidents/accidents to Leads and Supervisors.
• Ensure familiarity with and readiness for all emergency procedures and other tasks as directed by Leads and Supervisors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Education and Experience 

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. This provision may be waived if applicant is under the age of 18. 
• One year of experience in a job-related field is preferred. 

Skills and Abilities 

• Facility operations, customer service, basic event/program management, and safety practices. 
• Ability to use custodial and operational equipment, communicate effectively, and work independently. 

Special Requirements 

• Ability to obtain a current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. 
• Ability to obtain a current California Food Handler Card. 
• Ability to obtain a current Driver’s License and clean driving record is preferred.
