The City of Rocklin is excited to announce a recruitment for Police Officer Trainees. The City will be hiring recruits to send to the Police Academy.

Applicants are advised to read the entire job posting and follow all directions to ensure a complete application. 

The successful candidates will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee and must successfully complete a twenty-four (24) week P.O.S.T. Basic Course Police Academy. The academy is not a live-in academy and the selected candidate must be able to commute to the academy location daily.

Upon satisfactory graduation from a P.O.S.T. Basic Course Police Academy, a Police Recruit meeting the requirements of the Police Officer classification shall be advanced to the career classification of Police Officer.

Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation to be considered for this position. Candidates must be 21 years of age at time of academy graduation. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation.

Examination Process:

1. Application Review

All applications submitted will be reviewed for minimum qualifications. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be moved forward to the next step of the examination process. Be sure to submit all required documents and complete the entire application. Resumes are not accepted as an application; you must complete the online application to be considered. 

2. PELLET-B Written Exam and Physical Agility Test

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Police Officer Trainee will be invited to participate in the PELLET-B Written Exam and the Physical Agility Test. These exams are tentatively scheduled for June 29, 2024. 

PELLET-B

All candidates must either submit a PELLET-B score dated June of 2023 or later or must participate in the City of Rocklin's test administration. 

If you have already taken the PELLET-B within the past year, you may submit your PELLET-B score with your application. 

Physical Agility Test
 

The City of Rocklin does not accept physical agility scores from other agencies. You must participate in and pass our agility test to advance in the selection process. The Physical Agility Test includes a 99 yard obstacle course; a fence climb - both a six (6) foot solid fence and six (6) foot chain link fence will be assessed, a body drag of a 165lb dummy approximately 32 feet, and a 500 yard run. 

3. Structured Oral Examination

The top candidates that successfully pass both the written and physical ability examinations may be invited to participate in an oral panel interview. 

DEFINITION
Under immediate supervision, actively participates in the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) prescribed police training academy; performs all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Police Officer classification; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives immediate supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer class series responsible for learning and becoming proficient in the understanding of law enforcement tasks, policies, procedures, and standards. Upon successful completion of the police academy training program, incumbents may be appointed to the sworn classification of Police Officer.

This class is distinguished from the Police Officer classification in that the latter is the sworn, journey-level class in the series that has responsibility for preserving public peace, protection of life and property, prevention of crime; and enforcement of all laws.

 

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
 

• Attends the police academy and actively participates in all studies, assignments, and tasks.
• Completes all required assignments, tests, and follows all instructions relative to the academy curriculum and behavior.
• Develops proficiency in criminal law, arrest and control techniques, use of firearms report writing, vehicle operation, first aid and CPR, narcotics identification, crowd control, court room demeanor, public relations, patrol procedures, physical conditioning and training, and any other subjects included in the academy.
• May perform other administrative assignments.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by 30 college-level semester units from a regionally accredited educational institution in criminal justice, police science, business or public administration, or a closely related field prior to entering the police academy.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

 

Supplemental Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy to very heavy physical work while wearing personal protective equipment; the ability to operate a motor vehicle to respond to calls for emergency service; vision to read printed material, view gauges, and view a computer screen; hearing to distinguish various sounds and radio communications; speech to communicate in person, over the telephone or radio, and project voice when necessary; strength, stamina, and mobility to traverse uneven terrain, including climbing and descending ladders, stairs, and other temporary or construction access points; finger dexterity to operate standard office equipment and access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator; and the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull materials, objects, and individuals more than 100 pounds to perform the required job functions. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employees primarily work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees also work in the field and frequently may be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibrations, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous chemical substances and fumes. WORKING CONDITIONS

The City of Lincoln is accepting applications for the position of Refuse Truck Driver II in the Solid Waste division of the Public Works department. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of tasks in the collection of residential, commercial and industrial solid waste refuse; drive and operate refuse collection vehicles; organize, assign and review the work of others and perform other related duties as required.  

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Refuse Truck Driver II

This is a journey level class and is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I classification by the ability to perform the full range of duties assigned with only occasional instruction or assistance as unusual or unique situations arise. This class is distinguished from the Senior Refuse Truck Diver in that the latter provides technical and functional supervision over assigned staff or division programs and responsibilities.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May receive technical and functional supervision from a Senior Refuse Truck Driver.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Drives and operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including one or two-person-staffed refuse collection truck, front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; responds to afterhours call-outs if assigned.
• Maintains assigned truck by regular cleaning and washing, including inspecting for mechanical or other operating problems; reports mechanical or related problems for maintenance; may perform minor maintenance as appropriate.
• Operates hydraulic/mechanical controls to load, compress, and dump refuse; collects and disposes of debris on assigned route; transports refuse to/unload at appropriate landfill sites and/or sewage treatment plant.
• Assists with battery sorting, electronic waste collection, bin repair or delivery, cardboard removal, illegal dumping cleanup, and any other related solid waste program or assignment.
• Completes and posts notification tags on containers, bins and dumpsters for unacceptable contents for refuse collection.
• Prepares, maintains and submits records, reports and forms including time records, equipment and maintenance records, and route maps and logs.
• Responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

The following are a representative sample of the KSA’s necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Under direction of the Adult Services Administrator and the Supervising Literacy Program Coordinator, this position coordinates and administers tutor services for the Adult Literacy Services Program (ALS), recruits and provides orientations, training and in-service workshops to tutors for various adult literacy programs, and provides on-going coaching and support for tutors.
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

• Organizes, conducts and evaluates orientations, trainings and in-service workshops for tutors of adult learners; organizes conversation classes and determines the schedule and use of the student computer. 
• Recruits, selects, supervises, supports and encourages tutors; plans and implements methods to both recruit and retain tutors.
• Provides tutors with all instructional resources and materials needed to work with the student and provides ongoing support to the tutor for the duration of their service.

Education: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in education, public administration or related fields. Experience: A combination of education and experience that creates an understanding of adult illiteracy. Generally, this would be achieved by two (2) years of administrative or programmatic experience including one year of library or literacy experience.  Experience working with adults in an educational setting. Spanish bilingual skills preferred.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

 

• Possess a BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification.
• Be an Outside/Inside Plant specialist. Airport experience preferred.
• Ability to determine the scope, cost, and time for existing and new OSP/ISP projects that are moderate to complex in a matrix environment.
• Outside/Inside plant construction and project management experience and inventory management experience.
• Familiarity with data center industry standards, building codes, and safety standards.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of fiber optic engineering principles with OSP job-related functional areas to include general best practices, procedures, and industry standards.
• 5 years or more experiences working in mission critical environments (e.g., airports, utilities, telecommunications carriers, etc.) requiring coordination across multi-disciplines for delivering a common goal.
• 5+ years mission critical Data Center operations experience.
• 5+ years' Telecom industry experience.
• 5+ years' experience with Outside Plant cabling (OSP) & Inside Plant cabling (ISP), structured cabling systems.
• Experience coordinating with GIS teams to ensure as-builts are reflected in existing mapping tools.
• Experience working with GIS teams to document all fiber paths, terminations, and splices for all cabling projects.

Salary Information:
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate's qualifications and experience. The below salary ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.

Salary range for this classification is: $130,515.84 - $159,017.04 annually

The City of Sausalito Police Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Police Community Service and Evidence Technician. This vital role supports our mission to maintain public safety and maintaining evidence, as well as enforcement of parking rules and regulations

 

This is a journey-level non-sworn classification in the Police Department that performs the full range of duties related property and evidence as well as assists the patrol officers with minor evidence collection, reporting writing and responding to related calls for service as needed to effectively provide police services. This position is supervised by the Training Battalion Chief, PCF Program Manager or direct supervisor. The Entry Level PCF must successfully complete a 12-month probationary period and acquire the basic knowledge, skills and abilities required for successful performance as a PCF.  During the probationary period, the PCF will attend a Fire Academy provided by the District. Before the end of the 12-month probationary period, the PCF must be a certified Emergency Medical Technician.

 

Minimum Requirements:

• Must live within Santa Cruz County.
• Be at least 18 years of age by August 31, 2024.
• Possess a valid California Class C Driver's License and pass an "insurability" check by the District's insurance carrier.
• Copy of current Driving Record issued by CA DMV- available online.
• Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent by August 31, 2024.
• Must pass a District-provided medical physical exam including a drug screening and background investigation.
• Must have a valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) certification, completed before the CalOpps application closing date August 31, 2024. 
• Must have a valid, passing score of the written exam from FCTC, completed before the CalOpps application closing date of August 31, 2024. 
• Possess and maintain a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification card. Please upload a copy of your card when you apply on CalOpps.

Please note: Paid Call Firefighters must become certified as Emergency Medical Technicians within twelve (12) months of appointment. This certification course will not be provided or paid for by Central Fire District.

 

Typical duties, may include but not limited to:

• Respond to stations and incidents when requested.
• Attend drills and training sessions as required.
• Participate in District events such as fire prevention, public education, and community events.
• Perform work as assigned by the Fire Chief or designated representative(s) relative to firefighting, its equipment and related facilities and grounds.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

• EMT, or EMT-P (National Registry).
• Courses toward, or a degree in, Fire Protection Technology or a related field.
• Successful completion of a District approved, fulltime Fire Academy.

The City of Brisbane is currently recruiting for a Police Corporal in the Police Department. Under the general supervision of the designated Police Sergeant, leads and performs a wide variety of law enforcement duties involving crime prevention; protection of life and property and enforcement of all laws; including city ordinances; makes investigations, assists in the preparation of cases and testifies in court; serves in specialized departmental roles as assigned; provides information and assistance to the public. DUTIES:

• Performs all functions of a police officer assigned to patrol, investigations, or administration.
• Patrols assigned areas for the prevention and detection of crime, enforcement of laws, regulations, and ordinances.
• Responds to all calls for service and takes appropriate action.
• Acts as a patrol supervisor at crime incidents, disaster scenes and accidents until relieved by a higher-ranking officer. 
• Makes arrests, conducts traffic enforcement, prepares cases for trial, and appears in court as a witness.
• Participates in community events.
• Reviews reports written by officers.
• Acts as a shift supervisor/Watch Commander when the sergeant is not available or on another incident.
• Performs the duties of a Field Training Officer which includes: providing direct one on one training to the police officer recruits; completes daily and summary evaluations of recruits in training.
• Attends internal management meetings and provides status reports.
• Provides in-service training during quarterly training days.
• Develops, mentors and coaches subordinates.
• Completes special projects, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

 

Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school. Additional education at a community college or university level course work in criminal justice and/or a related field is highly desirable.

 

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of current full-time sworn police officer experience and successful completion of probation at the time of appointment; and possession of an Intermediate P.O.S.T. Certificate.

 

Licenses: Must possess a valid California class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess a valid Intermediate certificate issued by the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) and possess and maintain firearms qualification.

 

Knowledge of:

• Organization, operation rules and regulations of the Police Department.
• Principles of the criminal justice system and administration, including traffic control and crime prevention; criminal investigation
• Rules of evidence and laws of arrest and court procedures.
• Investigation and identification techniques and equipment.
• Courtroom procedures and techniques for testifying.
• Applicable laws, codes, ordinances and court decisions.

Physical Demands: Must maintain P.O.S.T. physical standards, including mobility and physical strength and stamina to respond to emergency situations and apprehend suspects, lift and move individuals or objects weighing to 100 pounds; ability to work in a standard office setting and to operate a motor vehicle; vision to maintain firearms qualification, to read printed materials and a computer screen, discern colors and work in a night setting; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and before groups in person and over the telephone and radio.

 

SALARY:

$9,696.15 - $10,180.95- $10,689.99 - $11,224.48 - $11,785.71 per month.  Appointments are generally made at the first step in this range.

 

BENEFITS:

This position is eligible for benefits under the Police Officer Association Memorandum of Understanding.
