THE DEPARTMENT

The American Canyon Police Department provides first response services to all forms of emergencies and crises.  The Department provides public safety by enforcing the Penal Code, Health and Safety Code, Vehicle Code, and local ordinances.  American Canyon Police Department is comprised of 24 sworn peace officers, two non-sworn Police Technicians, and an Administrative Clerk.

THE POSITION

The Police Technician performs a variety of non-sworn, administrative and field support tasks associated with law enforcement support services, which may include property and evidence collection, crime prevention, parking enforcement, vehicle abatement, and community relations; to maintain confidential and highly sensitive records related to police activities; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

This is a high-profile position with frequent interactions with community members in often difficult circumstances. The quality of the work performed in this role is reflective of the standards of the Department and the City. This is a uniformed, civilian position that does not require peace officer status. However, a detailed background investigation, medical exam and drug screening is required due to the sensitive nature of the work involved.

This position is not designated for retired annuitants.

THE POSITION

Typical duties performed by a Police Technician may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

• Patrol areas of the City to identify and resolve parking violations and traffic hazards and enforce applicable laws; respond to citizen complaints regarding parking and abandoned vehicle laws; tag and arrange transportation of abandoned vehicles.
• Provide assistance, information and directions to motorists; assist in the coordination of Police Service support for special events in the community; provide traffic control at local schools.
• Respond to non-emergency calls and service requests; take information from citizens and prepare crime reports for non-active calls; interview victims, suspects and witnesses, as directed, and provide referral information.
• Assist with Neighborhood Watch meetings and other crime prevention activities; provide information to interested citizens on neighborhood alert procedures; assist in coordinating crime prevention public displays.
• Collect, receive, and safeguard property/evidence; maintain evidence chain-of-custody records; transport evidence to Sheriff’s Department, Department of Justice, and outside crime lab.
• Coordinate public education, safety and prevention programs, and community outreach activities related to assigned responsibilities.
• Serve as liaison between court staff and Police Officers; assist Police Officers with follow-up evidence requests from the District Attorney’s Office. 
• Log and distribute subpoenas to officers and citizens.
• Receive calls; respond to citizen’s questions and complaints within established guidelines; distribute calls for officer assistance to communications centers; take and relay messages to department personnel as required.
• Handle the abandoned vehicle program to include locating and citing abandoned vehicles and overseeing the towing away of the vehicle.
• Coordinate various crime prevention, volunteer, and community policing programs.
• Research and compile statistical data.
• Assist Police Officers with vehicle and person searches.
• Drive a City vehicle to respond to citizen/officer requests; assist and support patrol division in the performance of their duties in the field.
• Assist with coordination of fleet maintenance and daily fueling of vehicles. 
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Perform general administrative support functions; type letters, forms, memoranda, and reports; transcribe police reports and notes; operate a computer system to enter/retrieve/transfer data; copy materials; maintain filing systems, screen, sort, and distribute mail; order and maintain office supplies and equipment.
• Assist Police department personnel as needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The Construction Secretary will assist the Chief of Construction, Construction Services Manager and the Construction Project Analyst with administrative tasks within the division.   

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized, problem-solver and self-starter individual who can handle an array of tasks, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, has good judgement, and works independently or as part of a team. The individual must be able to come up with multiple solutions to any given problem, in areas that may be outside their expertise, and be willing to take on uncertain challenges.

This is a supportive role to the construction division with high use of various computer software, research, problem solving and communication skills for a person at a intermediate level. The work performed will support MRCA’s new construction operations, emergency projects, general improvements to parks, and other efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development.

Supervision

This position reports to the Chief of Construction. Assorted tasks may be supervised by the Construction Services Manager and the Construction Project Analyst.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Coordinate material orders, delivery and invoices.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds inside the office.

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work on evenings or weekends upon prior approval by supervisor. The position will work out of the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens but may be required to travel to various other locations. Offices at the River Center are spread among multiple buildings and floors. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Under general supervision, the Neighborhood Preservation Inspector. ensures compliance with applicable sections of the State, Federal, and Municipal Codes, ordinances, and in relevant areas, such as property maintenance, abandoned vehicles, planning, zoning, signs, community nuisance, and related areas.  This is a classification in the Economic and Community Development Department.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Neighborhood Preservation Inspector is the full journey-level classification.  This position requires experience in both Municipal and Zoning Codes and Regulations. Employees at this level are expected to work with property owners independently and to coordinate City resources to solve neighborhood issues.

The Position

The Position

The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is seeking seasonal Election Vote Center Representatives (Office Assistant I) to assist in the upcoming March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election. Vote Centers offer in-person voting, voter registration, and additional services to the public up to a month before the election.
 
We are currently seeking dedicated and hard-working individuals for the temporary, full-time positions of Vote Center Representatives to be hired for the following duties:

• Use an iPad tablet to verify voter eligibility.
• Provide information about the current election.
• Guide voters on use of electronic ballot marking devices.
• Operate office equipment including Windows Laptops, printers, and iPad tablets.
• Provide in-person voter assistance to register to vote and cast a ballot.
• Issue ballots using Windows laptops.
• Maintain accurate files and records.
• Secure Election materials and supplies to maintain the integrity of the election.

Vote Centers will be open for two, four, eleven, and thirty days. Those hired can expect to work approximately 7 – 35 days including training and onboarding. The last anticipated day of employment will be March 7, 2024.
 
Vote Center Representatives will work eight (8) hours per day in-person once the site opens. Typical hours are 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with the addition of at least one weekend (March 2-3, 2024). This assignment will include one setup day of at least four hours before opening the location. On Election Day, Vote Center Representatives will work from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. or later.  
 
The hourly wage for this position starts at: $22.97. These positions will require working overtime, including long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays.  

• Authorized time worked more than 40 hours in the workweek: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate.
• Hours worked on a holiday: compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the straight-time rate as provided in the Overtime Section of this MOU for their work group.

 
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act.  Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

 

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services or computer experience, experience with customer service, and a close attention to detail.
 
Critical skills for all Vote Center positions include the ability to prioritize work, coordinate several activities, organize and maintain accurate files and records, and understand and carry out oral and written directions. Several positions require fluency in Burmese, Cantonese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Tagalog/Filipino.
 
The position requires basic addition and subtraction. Vote Center Representatives must be proficient in the operation of a Windows computer, computer software, and applications. This position also requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, learn computer applications/software quickly and accurately, and serve members of the public.

The selected individuals must be available for the entire employment period until the completion of their assignment.

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. Human Services billing sections supports multiple programs that provide community services to residents. The billing staff work with a variety of HSD staff, including clinicians and administrators, as well as program vendors and state and county agencies.

The Position

The City of Fremont, Human Services Department - Billing Unit is looking looking for candidates who are eager and interested to learn and grow their finance and billing skills and be part of a dynamic customer service oriented team. Under direct supervision of the Management Analyst II, the Human Services Billing Unit Accounting Specialist I will work as part of a billing team and also across the various department divisions. This position is responsible for assisting in the billing process of our Medi-Cal programs through the use of our new electronic health record system and other county, state and

funder based billing systems. Our department provides an array of counseling and case management services to children, youth, seniors and families across the Tri-City area. The Billing Unit is tasked with ensuring that our services are billed to the appropriate sources. The Billing Unit is committed to providing an engaging and supportive work environment, where staff are cross trained, have opportunities to work independently, and learn specialized skills.

Advancement to level II requires gaining the knowledge, skills, and experience that meet the qualifications and demonstrating the ability to consistently perform the work of the level II classification.

Examples of Job Duties

• Perform financial, accounting or statistical office support duties including producing invoices and billing of services, accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchasing functions.
• Reconcile service billing to actual service provision. Billing can be done electronically or manually.
• Provide a variety of financial, accounting and auditing office support duties in the preparation, maintenance and processing of accounting and financial records.
• Issue receipts and balance accounts on a regular basis.
• Record or post information, data or figures.
• Maintain a variety of manual and automated records.
• Receive reports and other requests for payment with purchase order or contract documents.
• Reconcile and prepare payment requests for service and non-purchase order expenditures.
• Receive and process bids, quotes, requisitions, purchase orders, agreements, contracts, and other documents.
• Research and assemble information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports, invoices and/or cost reports.
• Review and reconcile reports, computer output and related data.
• Provide information to the public or to City staff that may require the use of judgment and interpretations of City policies and ordinances, rules or procedures.
• Make mathematical calculations.
• Provide information to vendors regarding invoices and purchase orders.
• Operate standard and specialized office equipment including computer equipment.
• Enter and retrieve data from an on-line or personal computer system and uses such technology to produce reports, tables and graphs.
• Prepare client statistical reports from database used for Clinical and Family Support Service programs.
• Attend County Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (CMAA) and Targeted Case Management (TCM)provider meetings and trainings.
• Perform a variety of general administrative office support duties such as typing, proofreading, filing, and answering the telephone.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Enter or transfer data to multiple data systems used by the County and State where deadlines may be prescribed.
• Prepare data reports which will assist department administrators to track contract compliance requirements.
