The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor position may be assigned to the following areas:

Lifeguard

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard performs lifeguard duties in enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct; perform emergency rescue and lifesaving techniques.

Swim Instructor

Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor performs swim instructor duties in planning, coordinating and teaching swimming and water safety courses, enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lifeguard

• Enforce swimming pool rules and regulations, including ensuring orderly conduct by pool patrons.
• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels. Assist swimmers who are in distress and administer a variety of first aid and/or life saving techniques, as appropriate.
• Assist in maintaining pool areas in a safe and clean condition.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Swim Instructor

• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Registered Nurse in the Public Health Division within the Health and Human Services Department. Under general direction, the Registered Nurse promotes general health in the community through education and outreach; performs a range of nursing tasks such as specimen collection and processing; administering medication/injections, diagnostic skin tests and immunizations; completes appropriate paperwork such as logs, reports, and forms; coordinates the patient’s medical care with private physicians, public facilities and other health centers; reviews laboratory results; assists in monitoring quality assurance, infection control and safety activities; participates in COVID-19 response activities including testing and other activities; administration of general nursing care, including general health screenings; provision of quality nursing care to both adult and pediatric patients in a variety of settings in conjunction with or under the direction of the Public Health Officer. The City of San Mateo Police Department is looking for highly qualified, experienced Dispatchers to join our team!

The Foster City Police Department is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled individual to join our team as an Entry Level or Lateral Police Fire Dispatcher. 

Under general supervision, receives police and emergency calls and dispatches police units following prescribed procedures; answers non-emergency calls for public safety and other City departments; performs a variety of general administrative support duties including record keeping, typing, and filing; and performs related work as required. 

This journey-level non-sworn classification is responsible for independently performing the full range of receiving and dispatching emergency call duties in support of the Police Department. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Police Dispatch Supervisor in that the latter is the serves as the first level supervisor within the Dispatch Bureau. 

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:  

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and one (1) year of experience working with radio and computer equipment in the field of law enforcement, fire, or medical dispatching. 

Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
• Possess a POST Dispatcher test certificate with a passing score of 55 and higher and meet updated training requirements as per POST guidelines.

Lateral dispatchers do not need to send a copy of the POST certificate but must have experience as a public safety dispatcher.

The City of Menlo Park currently has an excellent opportunity for experienced Communications Dispatchers. Shift work including weekends and holidays is required.

Communications Dispatchers are responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for the Police Department and City.  Responsibilities are centered on extensive contact with the public over the telephone, in both emergency and non-emergency situations to receive, transmit, and provide factual information and assistance.  All activities are performed within specified legal guidelines.  Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative.

The Position

This new Urban Landscape Manager will have a primary focus on park capital maintenance projects and all phases of park maintenance contractor service agreements under the direction of the Park Superintendent. Together both of the Urban Landscape Managers will manage park staff and contractors in the care and upkeep of parks, medians, municipal landscape and hardscape, trails and open space. This includes assisting the Park Superintendent with administrative duties, short and long-term planning, organizing and supervising park maintenance operations and functions.
 
Examples of Duties

• Oversee assigned park maintenance capital projects and ensure all purchasing and legal requirements are met.
• Plan, schedule, organize, manage and assign work within sections of the Park Maintenance Division.
• Supervise employees as needed in performing park maintenance activities.
• Assign, train, direct, evaluate and assist in selecting subordinate staff.
• Monitor and prepare employee performance evaluations and plan staff development.
• Determine the needs and direct the development of staff training in work techniques, safety and other work-related matters.

• Review field activities, confer with staff and direct the corrections of any noted deficiencies or deviations from accepted practices.
• Assigned projects should be completed within approved budget and timeline and any variance need to be communicated to the Superintendent for approval.
• Provide input for operating and capital improvement plan budget development.
• Prepare estimate of maintenance impacts due to park or landscape improvements.
• Monitor expenditures to ensure conformance with the Division’s budget.
• Prepare bid materials, contracts and specifications for the maintenance of City owned landscaped areas.
• Assist with consultants’ selection, contract administration and inspection of the work of contractors.
• Determine the type of work to be done, and the personnel and equipment required to complete the work.
• Coordinate with other departments as needed on assigned capital projects.
• Interpret and communicate appropriate application of policy and operational procedures.
• Confer with staff to review and monitor operations and program implementation.
• Coordinate activities of the Parks and Urban Landscape functions with those of other City units and outside agencies.
• Maintain  records and  prepare  a variety  of  complex  reports  and  memoranda  on  every  aspect  of  the section including maintenance reports on proposed landscape development projects and chemical reports for the County Agricultural Commissioner

TSS also operates a shared services organization that serves two additional government agencies for a total of approximately 1,000 customers. Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience effectively leading and managing a division or department doing related work. Experience should include a minimum of four (4) years senior management experience in agency administration, operations, management or similar position. Managing administrative support services; budget development, analysis and management; business or public administration; presenting to boards, commissions and/or committees, responding to public inquiries and requests, reporting to executive management.

Preferred Experience:  At least 5-7 years in IT Management

License/Certificate:  Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.

The Position 
As a Public Safety Dispatcher II, this non-sworn classification dispatches public safety, fire, and emergency medical services out into the community. The successful incumbent will be responsible for receiving incoming calls for police, fire, or medical assistance and dispatch necessary units. This classification is distinguished from the Public Safety Dispatcher I by a broader range of responsibility due to a higher level of experience and training.  

Candidates must attain a passing score on each phase of the examination process to qualify for the Eligible List. A department interview will be required prior to appointment.

This class is distinguished from the class of Public Safety Dispatcher I in that the latter is the entry level class where incumbents are trained on full range of dispatch functions under immediate supervision. This class is distinguished from the Senior Public Safety Dispatcher in that the latter has full responsibility for supervising a shift of Public Safety Dispatchers I/II.

 

 

Typical Duties

 

Each position in this classification may not include all the duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all the duties that may be performed.

• Operates base radio console equipment, transmitting and receiving routine and emergency messages
• Receives emergency and routine requests for services from the public via 9-1-1, alternate emergency lines, and business lines
• Dispatches appropriate emergency vehicles, equipment and personnel in response to those requests, in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Coordinates emergency operations between various departmental personnel and equipment
• Operates data terminals for information pertaining to daily public safety operations, and general emergency services
• Maintains written logs, files, and computer information in the prescribed manner
• Updates computer files and performs other clerical functions and tasks as directed
• Performs other related duties as assigned

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
• The equivalent of two (2) years of paid employment experience in public safety dispatching within the past five (5) years of which at least one (1) year included solo status; or
• Five (5) years of current paid employment with a public safety agency or private emergency medical services agency, with high level Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio and/or telephone operation; or
• Successful completion of probationary period as a Public Safety Dispatcher I with the City of Santa Clara.

ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS

• Possession of a valid California POST Public Safety Dispatcher Basic certificate, which may be substituted for six (6) months of the solo status experience.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Classroom education involving fire science or law enforcement related studies.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

• Possession of a valid California POST Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate and a valid Medical Priorities Dispatching System (MPDS) Certificate are required prior to the completion of the probationary period.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment. All candidates will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting and may include polygraph and/or psychological testing.

PERMANENT CITY EMPLOYEES PREFERENCE POINTS
Current permanent employee candidates who receive a passing score on the examination will have an additional five (5) points added to his/her final score.

The City of San Mateo is currently taking applications for the position of Dispatcher I. 

This is a continuous recruitment.  Applicants are added to the employment list as they meet the minimum qualifications. 

Experience and Education Guidelines:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Some telephone or dispatch experience is highly desirable.

Education:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

License or Certificate:

Verification of successful completion of the P.O.S.T. Entry-Level Dispatcher Selection Test Battery Examination with a minimum passing "T-Score" of 48 or higher or verification of successful completion of a CritiCall Examination with a minimum passing score of 50 or higher. 

Possession of, or ability to attain, a POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training) Written Examination Certificate

Currently Dispatcher’s hours are scheduled under the 4-10 work schedule.  Employees work ten hours per day, four days per week and shift work is required.  Work schedules will vary and overtime may be required.
