PLANNING INTERN JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The Planning Intern will have the opportunity to assist in a variety of tasks and duties involved in day to day operations of the Planning Department. The Planning Department is responsible for overseeing and guiding development in the Town of Moraga.

DEFINITION:

Knowledge of:

Community resources adaptable to the development of community services programs for specified recreation programs.  Principles of program coordination, training and evaluations.  Emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR.  Safety principles, practices and procedures.

Skill to:

Apply First Aid methods and safety precautions related to assigned programs.  Develop and maintain support for programs from the community and local organizations.  Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Oversee train and evaluate assigned staff.  Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of the required duties.  Operate office equipment, including a personal computer.

Ability to:

Develop cooperative public relations with the general public.  Remain calm in stressful situations.  Be consistent when enforcing rules and regulations.  Maintain authority and control over programs.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Two (2) year of increasing responsible experience in the delivery of recreation services. A Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for one year of experience.

License or Certificates:

When only assigned to recreation duties, the following is required and must be maintained during the course of employment.

• Required upon hire:
  •  Valid California Driver’s license,
• Required within six months of hire,
  • Possession and maintenance of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent and
  • Current American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate or equivalent

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to provide highly complex professional work in the planning, management and oversight of construction and rehabilitation projects and programs. The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Principal Staff Specialist in the Strategic Incentives Division (SI) Division. This is an open recruitment for one (1) full-time, represented position.

The Strategic Incentives Division supports the Air District’s mission by implementing incentive programs (grant programs) that achieve voluntary reductions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, primarily from on- and off-road vehicles and equipment that operate in the Air District’s jurisdiction. In 2023-2024, the SI Division is administering more than $90 million in new revenue to fund programs and projects that replace older diesel-fueled vehicles and equipment such as school and transit buses, marine vessels, locomotives, trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and other mobile equipment, with newer, cleaner alternatives, including zero-emission technologies, and install refueling/charging infrastructure that supports the accelerated adoption of zero-emissions vehicles and equipment. Other programs administered support the reduction of single-occupancy vehicle, provide cash and mobility options to residents for turning in their older vehicles, and provide grants to reduce pollution from woodburning devices. The Division develops programs to meet community identified strategies for reducing air quality disparities and that benefit the Bay Area’s most overburdened communities.

About you in the position

The Principal Staff Specialist (AB 617 role) in the SI Division will coordinate the division's efforts in bringing greater equity to grant programs through program development, collaboration with other divisions, and engagement with communities under the AB 617 program. With your in-depth knowledge of the Air District’s emission reduction grant programs, you will lead the division's participation in internal and external AB 617 engagement, including communicating the role of the division; analyzing, reporting, and presenting information about air quality improvement incentive programs and mobile sources, participating in community meetings, proposing and guiding discussions on incentive-related emission reduction strategies and actions, developing plans/programs to implement action, and soliciting feedback on strategy implementation. Examples of other tasks include preparing written materials related to grant programs, reports and plans; proposing recommendations for updates to current incentive programs; developing and supporting the development of new programs; assessing impacts of regulatory actions on mobile source categories; presenting to the Board of Directors and other stakeholders; and leading and training staff. This position will require working nights and weekends on occasion to attend community meetings and public events. Definition
Under general supervision, the Senior Land Surveyor supervises and coordinates the activities of field and office surveying functions and assists the Survey and Mapping Manager with supervisory and administrative functions of the Survey Services Unit.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is a single position classification responsible for assisting the Survey and Mapping Manager in supervising the efforts of subordinate personnel including surveyors, engineering technicians, and consultants. The Senior Land Surveyor can be assigned to any of the following areas: supervision of survey activities in the field for design and construction projects, supervision of office surveying functions such as mapping, writing legal descriptions, and production of accurate calculations used for engineering, real estate and construction activities.

This classification requires that the incumbent be licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California or equivalent and possess specialized knowledge of land surveying techniques and construction surveying, with emphasis on technology such as GPS (Global Positioning System) methodology and instrumentation. This position will supervise professional and/or administrative staff, as well as identify the need for establishing and administering consultant contracts. This position works with other public agencies (e.g., Caltrans, local cities and counties, water district) to establish property exchanges and rights of way for transportation improvements.

Essential Job Functions

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Standards
Sufficient training, education, and experience to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in surveying science, engineering or a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of technical surveying experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a position comparable to that of a field surveying Chief of Party and/or office surveying "Lead" Land Surveyor. Directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California or equivalent is required at the time of appointment.

THE ROLE AND PROJECTS:
Reporting to the Economic Development Program Manager, the Intern will be engaged in project-based work to advance key economic development strategic initiatives.  Examples of the work include, but are not limited to the following:

• Implement tasks outlined in the San Rafael Economic Development Strategic Plan.
• Develop a business support communications plan in collaboration with business support partners.
• Support Division Manager to activate outreach to businesses.
• Learn and assist with contract management.
• Evaluate resources available to various business groups through an equity lens.  Research strategies for business support for underserved sectors in San Rafael.
• Support activation of the Downtown San Rafael Arts District Strategic Plan.
• Administrative tasks as assigned.

HOURS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This position will work approximately 12-20 hours per week.  The candidate will have hands-on learning and work experience at San Rafael City Hall and outreach in the community.

This is a temporary position and hours worked may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30).

In accordance with the salary resolution, this position receives no benefits with the exception of Paid Sick Leave and a retirement plan.  

• Temporary employees are entitled to receive sick leave in accordance with California's Paid Sick Leave Law (AB 1522).
• Participation in a retirement plan is mandated by Federal Law and you will be enrolled in the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS):

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for an individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Adult Full-Service Partnership (FSP). The Clinical Therapist I/II will appeal to individuals who are inspired by challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community with moderate to severe behavioral health clients. The Clinical Therapist will report to a Clinical Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high acuity clients.

• Within scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances.

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field.

• Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure;
  completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.
