The Executive Director will serve as a visionary leader for the organization and is responsible for coordinating and expanding various mental health services, ensuring team members are meeting desirable outcomes and providing excellence in service to the communities. They will direct the development of organization-wide goals, policies, and procedures and keep the Governing Board aware of financial conditions, program progress, and the organization’s needs. This job requires financial savvy and organizational development expertise. Implementing strategic plans is essential for this role, as it involves spearheading innovative change. Additionally, the Executive Director must be able to provide policy guidance and ensure compliance with governmental regulations. They will also serve as a representative of TCMHA in meetings with governmental agencies, community groups, and other key stakeholders.

Perform related work as required. NOTE: This program provides on the job training to prepare a swim aide to become a Swim Instructor. This entry-level aquatics position is designed to give valuable training and orientation to the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program, and the Mill Valley Aquatics Program for Individuals who desire to work in aquatics but don’t have required experience. Minimum age required to apply, 14 years old. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assist Swim Instructor to provide all levels of swimming to all age groups.
• Follow the Instructors’ guidelines and directions working with the group or an individual as needed.
• Maintain certain class records and reports as required.
• Prepare instructional equipment, and clean up after classes.
• Provide basic locker room checks and regular restroom and facility light cleaning.

• Respond to emergencies based upon facility emergency plan guidelines, which may include rendering CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)/using an AED.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: No experience required. CPR certification strongly desired.

Under general supervision, an Employee Assistance Counselor provides clinical assessment, short-term counseling and referral of City and County employees experiencing difficulties related to personal or work-related problems, such as stress, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, emotional concerns or relationship issues. A Counselor conducts seminars, trainings, and consultations on issues related to personal and organizational wellness; prepares records and reports; and performs related duties as required.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Provides clinical assessment, short-term counseling and referral services to employees of the City and County who are experiencing difficulties related to personal or work-related problems, such as stress, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, emotional concerns or relationship issues; provides counseling of family members and significant others as appropriate.
2. Facilitates seminars and trainings for employees and management on personal, interpersonal and organizational issues such as the effective management of stress, anger and emotions, workplace negativity and dealing with difficult people.
3. Assists in evaluation efforts to determine the effectiveness of services provided.
4. Educates employees, supervisors and managers regarding EAP service offerings, how to access services, early identification of personal and workplace problems, and referrals to the program.
5. Provides trauma response, crisis intervention and mediation/conflict resolution services as requested.
6. Collects client and program data for tracking, conducts analysis, and prepares related records and reports as requested.
7. May include additional duties as assigned.

Foster City is looking for a fast learner with some planning or building experience to fill the position of Building Permit Technician. This is an entry-level position that can serve as the first step in establishing a career in Planning or Building services. Foster City offers a unique experience to utilize customer service and people skills while deepening your technical knowledge in the building permit process. 

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree or completion of technical courses in building codes or inspection principles or techniques is desirable. ICBO Permit Technician Certification is highly desirable.

Experience: Two (2) years experience working in a building or planning department, with six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in computerized building permit applications processing. 

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license upon appointment.
• ICBO Permit Technician Certification is required within the first full year of employment with the City in this position

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Community Development Department will make the hiring decision.

The Santa Clara Library Department aims to unite our community through possibility, exploration, and education. Read Santa Clara’s adult literacy program serves adults who seek to strengthen their basic literacy skills to achieve their goals as family members, workers, community members and lifelong learners.

The Position:

The Literacy Technology Assistant helps Read Santa Clara's adult learners gain basic digital literacy skills. The person helps adult learners 1:1 or in small groups learn how to use the literacy program's laptops and iPads as well as how to use literacy software on their own devices. The Literacy Technology Assistant may also be called on to support volunteer tutors or Read Santa Clara staff, as the need arises. The Literacy Technology Assistant is a patient, empathetic individual, who can teach basic technology skills to adults who have little or no digital literacy skills.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

• Configure and operate Read Santa Clara's devices.
• Maintain the technology inventory, including keeping track of software subscriptions and licenses.

• Check in and check out RSC devices to adult learners.
• Advise volunteers on how to effectively incorporate technology in literacy instruction and assist them as-needed with the online platform used to turn in monthly tutoring reports
• Write user-friendly instructions/create tutorial videos to help adult learners/tutors use literacy software.
• Record data and provide reports of sessions held with learners and tutors.
• Support Read Santa Clara staff, as needed, on specific literacy projects.

• How to use laptops/Chromebooks, iPads, smart phones, and copiers/printers.

Ability to:

• Learn about literacy software and the library's electronic resources.
• Teach adults basic technology skills.
• Work independently and prioritize work assignments with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoot routine technology problems and recognize and report complex problems to literacy staff.

Reporting to the Building Official, this specialized classification performs the full range of duties related to building inspection and code compliance activities required to ensure compliance with the City’s Municipal Code as well as the full range of routine to complex inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; investigates citizen complaints of public nuisances and quality of life issues and seeks voluntary compliance or issues citations and initiates abatement procedures; performs inspections at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial building sites to enforce building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental codes, and other governing laws and ordinances, including basic zoning, grading, fire, and safety regulations; reviews applications and conducts inspections on a wide range of business licenses and special events permits such as those for massage establishments, special events, and noise exemptions; and performs related work as required.

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for a Combination Building Inspector I/II/Senior!

This position(s) may be filled as Combination Building Inspector I ($36.0157 - $48.2645 per hour), Combination Building Inspector II ($39.7935 - $53.3271 per hour), or Senior Combination Building Inspector ($43.9679 - $58.9212 per hour), depending on candidate experience and qualifications.

The Combination Building Inspector must possess excellent customer service and communication skills, be self-motivated, exercise discretion and independent judgment, and project a very professional image through in-person, phone, and e-mail interactions at all times. Additionally, this position will plan check in specialized areas such as plumbing and mechanical.

The Senior Combination Building Inspector will lead, oversee, and participate in the more complex inspection duties associated with commercial and residential enforcement of building, zoning, and related codes and regulations governing the construction, alteration, repair, and use of buildings and structures.  Additionally, this position will provide lead supervision to assigned staff as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs the more skilled inspection work in the enforcement of building, zoning, fire, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, housing, energy, accessibility, and related codes and regulations governing the construction, alteration, repair and use of buildings and structures
• Reads and interprets plans and specifications for inspection on commercial and residential buildings and related construction on commercial and residential buildings and related construction involving installation, repair, replacement and alterations for compliance with codes and regulations
• Performs the more skilled building inspections on commercial sites before construction to determine validity of permits and compliance with regulations
• Participates in the development of policies and procedures; recommends programs and projects to Building Inspections personnel

• Confers and coordinates with, and provides information and assistance to owners, architects, engineers, contractors, builders, and the general public in the field and office; explains and interprets applicable codes, ordinances, and zoning regulations

SENIOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Trains assigned employees in their areas of work including building inspection methods, procedures, and techniques; serves as a resource for staff to ensure consistency and effectiveness in enforcing building codes and carrying out policy
• Leads, plans, trains, and reviews the work of staff responsible for performing skilled inspection work in the enforcement of building, zoning, fire, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, housing, and related codes and regulations governing the construction, alteration, repair, and use of buildings and structures
• Provides leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance and customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department’s and the City’s mission, objectives, and values.
• Assists other building inspection staff, departments, and divisions with questions, inspections, and compliance issues.
• Assists in the preparation of legal documents such as warrants for inspection, citation briefs, and demolition or repair orders; tracks extended cases through the court system and coordinates action with the City Attorney’s office.
• Keeps informed of changes and new legislation pertaining to building codes and regulations that affect the work of the department, and ensures that appropriate staff is informed and current.
• Participates in the development of policies and procedures; recommends programs and projects to higher-level Building Inspections personnel.
• Performs counter plan checks and reviews field revisions and/or as-built plans as necessary; ensures compliance with City, state, and federal construction, maintenance, use, health, safety, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing laws, codes, and standards.
