The City of San Jose is seeking an Enterprise Client Services Manager (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) for the Information Technology Department (ITD). 

The Information Technology Department houses a team of customer-centric technicians and engineers to support the use of technology by City employees and the public. As the Enterprise Client Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing that team of engineers and technicians ensuring excellent endpoint management services and day-to-day customer support services. 

The City of San José believes in the model of utilizing technology as a means for increased optimization as well as cost savings. With significant technology refresh and upgrade, there is a greater need for highly skilled technical hands-on leadership, oversight, and project management. 

This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. We are seeking an individual with a willingness to adapt to an ever-changing business as well as an ever-changing technical environment. The ideal candidate must take full ownership of managing all endpoint services and operations and successfully lead projects to completion. This position demands a proven ability to resolve complex technical issues with limited resources. Most importantly, a team leader, team player, and positive attitude are essential to this position.

Key duties may include but are not limited to:

• Managing a Tier-1 helpdesk team to provide excellent customer service requested via online tickets, phone, and walkups.  
• Providing endpoint services management for UCaaS/VoIP, PCs (Windows 10/11 OS), conference rooms, Zoom, etc.
• Designing and overseeing implementation for newly introduced client service project initiatives and ensuring operationalization transitions to the IT Tier-1 support.
• Managing the ticket queues ensuring quality service and promoting fast turnaround time.
• Maintaining and improving the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based operational standards and services.  
• Overseeing customer hardware/software quoting and purchasing operations.
• Monitoring and providing analysis of reports and metrics to management and customers as needed.
• Coordinating and managing key third-party vendor relationships.
• Creating and managing training and development plans for direct reports. 
• Tracking maintenance renewals and subscriptions for users-owned services, hardware, and/or applications.
• Managing escalations and/or complaints and utilizing best judgment and discretion to resolve them.
• Improving customer service quality results by conducting surveys; evaluating and re-designing processes; establishing and communicating service metrics; and, monitoring and analyzing results.
• Improving productivity, quality, and customer-service standard based on customer services metrics.

The Departments

Health, Housing & Community Services

• In Affordable Housing Programs, the CDPC provides project leadership and implements a variety of programs related to affordable housing development, rehabilitation, program administration, and policy development and implementation. Candidates will have significant interaction with housing developers, owners, managers, tenants and applicants. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of affordable housing financing and/or housing policies and programs, resourcefulness in responding to challenges, and proficiency in drafting, negotiating and executing the mechanisms for ensuring the community's interests. 

• In Labor Standards and Employment Programs, the CDPC works to ensure the City is in compliance with relevant local and federal ordinances/regulations. The Berkeley Municipal Code (BMC) contains several locally adopted labor and employment programs. The City is also an entitlement jurisdiction, and receives an annual funding awards from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 

Public Works

• In Real Property Services, the CDPC provides lead direction to staff, advises City Management on program implications of operational or financial activity, and makes recommendations regarding areas such as project restructuring, funding alternatives, and cost analysis. Incumbents have considerable latitude to exercise independent judgment, particularly when representing the City Manager or department in meetings with other agencies, boards and commissions and community groups.

• In Electric Mobility, the CDPC leads the City's efforts to fulfill the Berkeley Electric Mobility Roadmap. This plan aims to create a fossil-free transportation system that integrates with and supports the City’s ongoing efforts to increase walking, biking, and public transportation use in the City, and ensures equitable and affordable access to the benefits of clean transportation. Incumbents will organize the Electric Mobility Implementation Working Group, manage the development of City-owned electric vehicle charging infrastructure, track and develop programs utilizing emerging mobility options, and catalyze actions such as pilot projects and new best practices.

City Manager 

• In the ​​​Office of Economic Development, the CDPC provides assistance to new and growing businesses in Berkeley and the business district organizations that represent them. They will perform a range of economic data analysis, prepare reports and presentations for the City Manager, City Council, and various boards and commissions, manage Berkeley's Revolving Loan Fund, and manage contracts with one or more Berkeley Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). Incumbents will also act as liaison with various district-based business organizations to help them promote and develop their districts, build local capacity and promote positive neighborhood economic development outcomes. They will advise businesses seeking to grow in or relocate to Berkeley and link them with property owners, brokers and other sources of business assistance. 

Required Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in business, planning, or public administration or a closely related field.

AND

Four (4) years of professional project management experience in community development, such as housing, economic development, public works, or planning. Lead and/or supervisory experience is desirable.

A master's degree in a related program is desirable and can be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A valid California driver's license is desirable. Must be able to attend evening meetings.

The Town of Moraga is seeking a dynamic Administrative Assistant to provide support to the Town Manager.  Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant performs a wide variety of routine to complex office, administrative and technical support tasks requiring the ability to apply specialized functions or services in order to support an assigned department; assists the public personally or directing by providing information to requests according to established procedures; sorts, logs and maintains records and other documents; follows policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; and performs related duties as required in a manner that is responsive, cost effective, and innovative. 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Administrative Assistant is the journey level in the Administrative Assistant series, in which employees are assigned the full scope of duties in an assigned department with only occasional instruction or assistance as unusual or unique situations arise. Incumbents perform a full range of administrative support duties, including organizing and coordinating workload; preparing reports; coordinating and assisting with the development of technical documents; and explaining Town ordinances, all requiring considerable department/program knowledge. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Administrative Assistant in that the latter performs the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within the series.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs a wide variety of routine to complex office and administrative tasks and duties in support of a department director and department activities, including organizing and coordinating work; sets priorities and meets deadlines.
• Maintains liaison between the Town Manager and department staff, other Town staff, officials and staff of other agencies to obtain and relay information and coordinate activities.
• Assists the public by phone and receives visitors at the counter; listens to and receives complaints; demonstrates an understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; represents the Town to all callers and visitors in a professional and customer friendly manner.
• Coordinates and sets up public hearings, meetings and workshops on a regular basis. This requires agenda preparation, meeting set-up (whether in person or in an online portal), preparation and distribution of meeting minutes and agenda packets, coordination with staff, and technical proficiency in running Zoom meetings and webinars to provide public access to meetings.  This position requires attendance at meetings to provide support to staff in conducting the meeting.
• Maintains a variety of databases for tracking operational, financial and statistical information; generates reports.
• Interprets and applies Town policies, procedures, and administrative directives, and communicates laws and regulations in response to inquiries or complaints; refers inquiries as appropriate.

The San José Fire Department is recruiting to fill (3) three Hazardous Materials Inspector II positions in the Bureau of Fire Prevention Division. The Hazardous Materials Inspector II’s may be assigned to Hazardous Materials Development Services group to perform plan reviews and inspections, or to Hazardous Materials Code Enforcement group to conduct detailed field inspections at facilities storing, handling, or using hazardous materials including highly hazardous materials unique to Silicon Valley. Both group activities do cross over, as required for back up and special demands and for cross training, as needed.

 

The Hazardous Materials II inspector inspects, reviews, and enforces commercial and industrial facilities for compliance with the San Jose Fire Code, California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) regulations, CSFM adopted sections of the California Building Code Series, San Jose Hazardous Materials Storage Permit Ordinance, S and applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) nationally recognized standards.

 

Duties for this position include, but may not be limited to:

 

• Providing technical assistance to facilities, consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, department officers/staff and the Fire Marshal on the application and/or interpretation of fire safety codes/regulations and on resolution of fire safety and hazardous materials issues identified in the design, construction or operations of buildings and integrated systems;

• Reviewing and analyze hazardous materials inventory statements for chemical classification;

• Reviewing and analyze hazardous materials business plans, construction documents, monitoring and treatment system plans for compliance with codes and regulations;

• Inspect commercial and industrial facilities and construction sites including reviewing facility maintenance records and document finding in inspections reports.

• Conducting enforcement as necessary including preparing citations and other administrative orders, conducting compliance meetings,

• Preparing enforcement cases for the City Attorney and District Attorney including the preparation of analytical data, reports, assisting in interpreting laws and regulations and providing court testimony, as required;

• Responding to complaint investigations for alleged violations of the aforementioned codes and standards.

• Assisting outside agencies and other City Departments including, Code Enforcement, Building Department, Planning Department, Public Works, and Environmental Services-Wastewater Pretreatment.

• Conduct public record request record searches

• Participate in the review of plans submitted for development projects for verification of code compliance with municipal codes.   

• Provide written plan review comments to development project applicants identifying discrepancies identified after compliance reviews.

• Conduct Hazardous Materials system installation and closure inspections for code compliance verification. 

• Assist with training of staff as requested.

 

Salary

Hazardous Materials Inspector II: $106,950.48 - $129,948.00 annually. This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

A short snapshot of the Business Solutions DCIO’s portfolio includes over 140 primary business applications, including a technical environment that spans Oracle (PeopleSoft/Taleo/Hyperion), Cayenta, SimpliGov, Microsoft O365/SharePoint/OneDrive/MSSQL), multiple cloud providers, enterprise reporting and data visualization solutions, and specialized applications in revenue, treasury, utilities billing, et al.

The Portfolio-Products-Projects Office is a six year-old division in the City. • Ensure successful project execution;
• Deliver continuously high business value from the City’s products and platforms through expert lifecycle management; and

Specific examples of work priorities over the next 18 months include: My San Jose, Business Process Automation, Integrated Permitting System and Development Services Upgrade and Transformation, Vehicle Blight service request management, 3-1-1 contact redesign, Business Tax system, emergency management technology refresh, IoT platforms and controls, infrastructure initiatives, and other efforts at the forefront nationally.
