DEFINITION: Under general supervision, responsibilities will include but not be limited to light office tasks, customer service, set up and take down of facility equipment and janitorial tasks. Perform related work as required.

Lead Facilities Attendants are expected to oversee Facility Attendant staff, supporting ongoing training, communication, and tracking of facility rentals, as well as speak and respond to rental related needs/ issues.   This is a part-time, year-round position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Set up and take down tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, and other related material and equipment.
• Greet public and provide general information for all Recreation department classes, programs, and events.
• Daily janitorial/maintenance duties such as routine and special cleaning of restrooms, community center rooms (i.e. wipe counters, vacuum floors, sweep walkways, empty trash receptacles, replace paper products and litter pick-up).
• Monitors guest activities in the community center and enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures for the entire Community Center.
• Occasionally assist with the coordination and execution of Department-sponsored outdoor events or classes.
• Maintain records and reports as required.
• Enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals. 
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to take the lead in completing assignments when working with a partner or on a team. 
• Respond professionally to emergencies, provide care as indicated under the scope of training.
• Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and build positive relationships with other staff.
• Actively attend and participate in required staff training.
• Reads and follows diagrams and instruction written in English.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

The Position

The Building Inspector Specialist (Plumbing) enforces the provisions of the Plumbing codes by inspecting both new projects and additions and alterations to existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings; provides technical expertise and training in an assigned functional area; may be assigned to assist at counter or in development activities; and performs related duties as required.

Examples of Job Duties

- Performs inspections, plan checks, and related duties in the specialized plumbing field of building inspection.
- Investigates unlisted equipment and suspect substandard installations to determine product equivalency.
- Resolves disputes over interpretation and application of building codes.
- Reviews building plans to determine compliance to specialized systems and methods and schedules of inspection.
- Meets with City officials, business representatives and the general public to discuss specialized facets of inspection, including procedures and problems.
- Represents the City at meetings and conferences in a positive, constructive, and complementary manner.
- Reviews and approves building permits.
- Trains staff in assigned building inspection specialty.
- Performs combination building inspection duties.
- Prepares correspondence and reports.
- Maintains building inspection records.
- Utilizes computer for tracking projects, writing and generating reports.

What You’ll Do

• Receive on-the-job training, learn, and perform work in the following police records functions:

• Operate machines and technology including but not limited to a computer, facsimile, copier/scanner/printer, calculator, desk-top computer, and a telecommunication terminal accessing County, State and National law enforcement automated information systems.
• Type, process, scan, and file a wide variety of police reports, warrants, subpoenas, citations, registrant files and court ordered record sealings utilizing various types of technology.
• Verify computer entries, process validations and assist with state and federal audits.
• Maintain logs for state and federal computer entries and updates.
• Retrieve and review daily crime reports for accuracy prior to submission to the District Attorney.
• Operate and organize a Department Records Management System to retrieve information such as searches for names, incidents, reports, and calls for service.
• Disseminate records information to department staff, outside law enforcement agencies, the public and other employees according to established laws and guidelines.
• Keep current on continuous changes and additions in report release requirements.
• Handle citizen complaints at the reception counter and on the telephone.
• Assist in training new and other assigned personnel.
• Perform record checks for authorized agencies in strict accordance with the law.
• Process vehicle release forms and collect fees.
• Process mail and order supplies.
• Purge department and citywide files as required.
• Assist in developing procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

If assigned to the Property Unit, duties may include but not limited to:

• Receive and maintain the chain of custody and integrity of, and safely store evidence, found property, and property held for safekeeping.
• Advise staff on proper packaging and submission procedures.
• Conduct inventories and audits of property and evidence.
• Release property to the public or the legally authorized persons in accordance with disposition forms, court orders, or stipulations.
• Check out items needed for court, investigations, and forensic testing; share evidence needed for investigation or review; transport items to and from laboratory and maintain strict records of chain of custody.
• Testify in court to verify chain of custody records of evidence.
• Make arrangements for auction of unclaimed property.

Building Attendant I/II

Part-Time Position - No Benefits

Approximately 20 hours per week - Evenings & Weekends
 (Not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year)

$1.00/hr extra on weekends

The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.

The Position

The Police Public Service Assistant (PSA) III is assigned to the Police Department’s Crime Lab and provides support to the Forensic Specialists and Crime Scene Investigators during operations in the Crime Lab. The Police Public Service Assistant III position requires excellent customer service and communication skills.

Examples of job duties include:

• Ordering and purchasing supplies.
• Re-supply evidence packaging area and appropriate lab areas.
• Clerical tasks, to include typing, running stats, electronic filing tasks, etc.
• Pick up and return evidence as needed.
• Pick up and deliver equipment and supplies.
• Arrange logistical operations within the lab and evidence packaging area including but not limited to arranging chemical waste and sharps removal, filter replacement, etc.
• Minor maintenance on office or lab equipment as required.
• Assist in assembling print kits for evidence collection.
• Identify and communicate with police, and outside vendors to complete job duties.
• Escorts outside vendors while they conduct business on the police campus.

The Position

The Public Service Assistant (PSA) II is assigned to the Police Department’s Red-Light Camera Unit. Under direct supervision of the Traffic Enforcement Project Specialist, the Public Service Assistant II will perform administrative tasks in support of the Police Department’s Red-Light Camera Unit. This position is a temporary/part-time appointment and may work up to 20 hours a week.

Examples of job duties include:

• Order and prepare court packets of red-light violation from Red Flex for review by court commissioner and defendants.
• Research and understand several sections of the vehicle, government and evidence code as it pertains to red light violations.
• Prepare trial by written declaration packets.
• Research and print out DMV information, including photos and convictions for case files.
• Assist with conducting enforcement sign and equipment verifications.
• Assist with verifying yellow light timing with city Traffic Engineers.
• Assist with review and maintenance of court evidence binders.
• Uploading case file evidence.
• Research statistical studies and assist in report preparation.

This is a part-time, year-round position.

• Patrol field, park and offsite facilities to monitor rental schedules and permitted use.
• Act as a liaison to the outdoor recreational community for the Recreation Department.
