The Position

The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will: coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks, landscaped areas and street beautification projects; inspect and review the work of developers and contractors landscaping for conformance with plans and specifications; and give professional advice on landscape matters.

• Organize and oversee the landscape design and layout of parks, recreational areas, roadway medians and pedestrian ways.

• Conduct park location studies to evaluate park site feasibility and proposed development.
• Respond to public requests and complaints regarding landscape development and tree preservation.

Marina Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Assistant Director, Operational Accounting will report directly to the Section Director, Financial Reporting and Operational Accounting, and will have management and oversight of operational areas of accounting including indirect cost allocation plan, single audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. The Assistant Director will prepare reports pertaining to operational accounting and will be a major contributor and advocate for operational accounting in the agency-wide ERP project.  The Assistant Director will provide oversight in the development and/or review of policies and procedures in operational accounting.

In coordination with internal stakeholders, this position will assist in development and/or review of policies and procedures and developing and evaluating the internal controls in AP, AR, and payroll.

This position will perform a variety of complex analytical, compliance, and administrative work in support of reporting functions; management of the operational accounting team and overall relationship with agency sections and program staff; coordinate with various outside agencies; analyze financial information and data; and communicate important financial information clearly to all entities. Education: A Master's degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or a related field, including a minimum of 24 semester-hours in accounting.  Applicants with a degree issued from an institution outside the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an academic accrediting service and provide proof of equivalency along with their application.    

Experience: Five years of increasingly complex and diverse professional accounting work experience, two years of which having full supervisory responsibility for two or more major accounting functions, including the equivalent of two years as an Accounting Supervisor or Senior Financial Analyst for MTC.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years relevant experience preferred
• Participation in ERP System upgrades
• Experience in the assessment of internal controls pertaining to areas in operational accounting (AP, AR, Payroll)
• Experience with Indirect Cost Allocations Plans (ICAP/overhead plan)
• CPA or other related professional license preferred.

License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:    

• Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day operations in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
• Work with Section Director in onboarding the Indirect Cost Allocation Plan (“ICAP”/Overhead) consultant; manage the annual preparation of the overhead plans.

• Assist in the management and production of Single Audit Reports and other external financial and governmental/grant audits including participation in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports.

• Supervise staff. Hire, mentor, and proactively carry out performance management issues of direct and indirect reports including establishing job expectations, performing probationary and annual performance appraisals, and managing performance and disciplinary issues. ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders II/III assigned to the Adaptive Program. The main goal of the City of Gilroy’s Recreation Division is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents. 
 
Under direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader II/III will assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program area focus is Adaptive (Special Needs), but you might be asked to support another recreation area.

 When assigned to the Adaptive Program, the leader will have an opportunity to have hands-on experience working with a special needs population.  Disabilities of participants vary in range from non-communicative to diminished motor skills to severe autism.  The position will report to an experienced staff member.  As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.
