SELECTION PROCESS

The most highly suitable and qualified candidates will be invited to participate in an oral panel interview. This assessment is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025.  

The top candidates recommended by the oral panel will be invited to participate in a final selection process which will include an informal panel comprised of members from the City’s Executive Team.

The City of Pacifica is currently recruiting for a Permit Technician to join our team. Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of the Community Development Department, including providing information to the public.

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES:

• Greet/acknowledge customers who contact the Community Development Department while assessing the nature of issues with appropriate and timely responses.
• Review, process and issue various permits and applications utilizing the City’s permit and project tracking system.
• Provide information concerning various permit and application requirements, codes and inspection procedures to internal and external customers, contractors, design professionals and the public.
• Receive and respond to inquiries from the public, contractors, developers, City employees, and other parties.
• Establish filing systems; maintain records, files, databases, and reference materials; assist with plan/map filing.
• Calculate and collect fees; track applications including researching and resolving billing issues with various parties.
• Prepare a variety of reports, letters, agreements, and other correspondence.
• Prepare and distribute Commission and Committee agenda packets. Attend meetings as needed.
• Post notices and prepare mailings for public hearings on individual properties.
• Schedule building inspections.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City’s Library Department –  Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library – is looking for energetic, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with customers of all ages in a challenging and fun environment, and who are interested in working year-round, 10-15 hours per week including day, evening, weekend, and assigned holiday hours.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Under the direction of the Town Manager, the Community Development
Director plans, organizes, directs, and manages all activities and operations of the Community Development Department, including planning, building, code enforcement, economic development, and related functions.
This executive-level management position is responsible for the overall administration and strategic direction
of the department and requires broad knowledge of community development principles, urban planning,
land use law, and local government operations, as well as strong leadership, communication, and
interpersonal skills. In a small town like Loomis, the Director is expected to be both a strategic leader and an active, hands-on manager who engages directly with community members, staff, and elected officials. 

This is a full-time, exempt position.  The Town of Loomis offers an attractive compensation and benefits program.  The Salary range $155,905—$189,504 annually; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Example of Duties: (Illustrative Only)

• Receives mail and direct payments from the public and funds from other City departments; balances monies received and prepares receipts and bank deposits.
• Processes accounts payable; assigns purchase order and vendor numbers; reviews invoices and receiving reports for accuracy and appropriate authorization; ensures that funds are budgeted and available and prepares documentation required for payment; enters data into the accounts payable system to produce payment.
• Reviews payroll records for completeness and accuracy; resolves problems and enters data into the payroll system to produce the City’s payroll.
• Provides information to business owners regarding business license requirements and fees; processes license applications and renewals; receives and receipts payments and prepares license certificates; maintains utility billing ledgers; inputs meter readings into the system and produces billing statements.
• Posts receipts, encumbrances, and expenditures to various accounts; reconciles accounts and prepares general ledger entries.
• Prepares and distributes billings for money owed to the City for fees and services.
• Answers questions, provides information regarding procedures and regulations and assists the public at a counter and over the telephone.
• Prepares and distributes payroll tax forms and 1099’s on an annual basis.
• Records and verifies a variety of financial transactions; prepares and maintains records and a variety of periodic and special financial, accounting, and statistical reports.
• Enters and retrieves information using standard word processing and spreadsheet software.

PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE WORKER

Under general supervision, to perform a variety of assignments in the maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, landscaped areas, and drainage systems; and to do related work as required.   This is a full-time, non-exempt position.  The Town of Loomis offers an attractive compensation and benefits program. The current salary range for this position is $55,879.00– $67,921.00 annually; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and  experience.

The City of Foster City is actively seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Building Services Assistant. In this role, you will provide physical set-up arrangements for classes, meetings, activities for public and private functions in the community buildings; assure security of buildings; and providing public information about recreation activities. This is a part-time, non-benefited position.

Education and Training Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be: 

• Education: Completion of the tenth grade or equivalent.
• Experience: Providing public services, information or directions; or performing group function arrangements or coordination is desirable.

Special Requirements
Ability to lift and move chairs, tables and equipment up to 40 lbs.; work under minimal direct supervision; work flexible hours; remain calm and use good judgement in difficult and emergency situations; provide courteous public service; drive a car/van to other city facilities.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training, and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview.

DEFINITION

Under direction, the Video Technician assists with the development of television programming and operates a variety of video production equipment for live cablecasts of public meetings and for preparation and playback of pre-recorded video programs, including the editing and production of event recaps and performs other duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Control remote and portable video cameras, operate digital video recorders and audio equipment for the live cablecasting of public meetings.  Choose camera shots, graphics, and adjusts audio levels.  View action on monitors; control contrast, brilliance, color balance, and fidelity and audio quality of cablecasted television signal.  Inspect video production equipment for proper operation, control, and safety; make minor adjustments and temporary repairs to equipment as necessary.  Assist in the production of programs including desktop editing. Create video "slides" using a variety of text, sounds, and graphics including backgrounds, borders and video images.  Operate a variety of video imaging and scheduling software and/or character generators.  Create automated shows using combinations of video "slides" and/or machine control commands.  Duplicate and label DVDs.  Maintain records of work performed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:  Television and video production techniques, operations and equipment.  Video and computer graphics.

Ability to:      Operate television production equipment such as field and studio cameras, digital recorders, editing equipment, switchers/special effects generators, and character generators; set up, operate and monitor equipment, such as, lights, microphones, audio mixers;  follow oral and written directions; work independently or as part of a team; follow safe work practices; work evenings and attend meetings; interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Education:  Graduation from high school or equivalent.  College level course work in television production and/or digital video imaging desirable.

Experience:  One year of video production employment desirable including live video production experience. 

License:  Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License.
