The Role:

The City of Redwood City is seeking Firefighters or Firefighter/Paramedics who, under direction of the Fire Captain, will perform firefighting and fire prevention duties aimed at protecting life and property, operate and maintain firefighting equipment, and provide basic medical assistance.  Firefighters also provide Basic Life Support first responder pre-hospital emergency medical care and emergency medical assistance, perform minor station maintenance, and participate in training to maintain skills.  Please see the Firefighter/Engineer job description for more details.

Required Qualifications:

A typical way to demonstrate the applicant possesses the required knowledge and ability may be obtained through the following ways:

1. Minimum of 30 semester college units.  Completion of college credits in the study of Fire Science or similar field.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D. or California Certificate of Proficiency).
3. Successful completion of a Firefighter 1 equivalent training program, or possession of a California State Fire Training Firefighter 1 certificate.

Required Certification and License:

1. Must possess a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate or valid Paramedic license.
2. Provide proof of a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPT) certificate prior to appointment to the classification of Firefighter/Engineer.  CPAT must be current.
3. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.  Driving record will be reviewed and any infractions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Knowledge of:

• Basic life support

Ability To:

• Act in accordance with departmental policies, rules, and instructions in the field of firefighting.
• Apply principles practices and procedures of modern firefighting.
• Safely operate fire apparatus, equipment, tools, devices, facilities and use properly.
• Perform tasks relating to firefighting, medical aid and other calls for assistance.
• Maintain an Emergency Medical Technician Certification as required by the State of California.
• Act appropriately in emergency situations.

Special Requirements - Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:

• Must be eighteen years of age;
• Vision Standards: Must pass a pre-employment medical exam according to the standards set by The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) and freedom from color blindness;
• Hearing Standards: Must pass a pre-employment medical exam according to NFPA;
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, lift and carry in excess of 100 lbs.; pull and/or drag 175 lbs.; work in the following environments: cold, extreme heat, extreme noise, outdoors, confining work spaces, elevated areas; work with electrical hazards, vibration, chemicals, dust, toxic waste, mechanical hazards, and explosive materials; availability for shift work.
• This position shall serve a probationary period of eighteen (18) months.
• As a condition of employment, employees shall comply with mandated medical monitoring.

The Information Technology Department is recruiting for a Business Analyst within the City Products-Projects-Portfolio Office (C3PO).

The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in analyzing and documenting business processes, identifying needs, and providing data-driven recommendations to improve the organization's efficiency and productivity.

The position will also lead and perform usability and accessibility work on digital service delivery analysis and/or improvement. This position will play a key role in ensuring new services are developed to bridge access, language, and ease of use barriers experienced disproportionately by underserved portions of our community.

This position is currently funded through June 30, 2025, with the potential to extend based on resource availability.

Salary Information:The final candidate's qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Senior Analyst classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

This is an exciting opportunity under the Technical Infrastructure Division in the Information Technology Department (ITD). The Technical Infrastructure Division designs and engineers solutions that address and meet the City's strategies built around Smart City initiatives, such as Digital Inclusion and Digital Equity, Public Wi-Fi expansion for Economic Development, Endpoint Modernization and virtualization, Multi-cloud frameworks, and digital analytics to support data-driven decisions. The Position
Under general or direct supervision, performs a wide variety of law enforcement duties involving crime prevention and investigation, protection of life and property, and enforcement of laws, codes, and ordinances; performs investigation duties, assists in the preparation of cases and testifies in court; cooperates with other law enforcement agencies and City departments; may provide lead direction for subordinate departmental employees and volunteers; provides information and assistance to the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

Community Oriented Policing
The Foster City Police Department is centered on the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing. There is an expectation that all employees will provide excellent service to the public, every call, every contact, every day. As with all employees, the Police Corporal is expected to make non-enforcement contacts with the public in an effort to more clearly identify the needs of the community, and to assist the public in solving community problems. 

Class Characteristics
This is a lead-level class in the sworn officer series responsible for performing a wide variety of law enforcement tasks in support of a municipal police department. Incumbents perform the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Police Sergeant in that the latter exercises technical and functional direction over and provides training to lower-level staff on an assigned shift.

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade; successful completion of 30 semester units of college course work at an accredited institution.  An Associate's degree or higher is desirable. The minimum education requirements may be met by the possession of an Intermediate Post Certificate.

Experience: Possession of a POST Basic Certificate at the time of application. 

Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, and a good driving record, to be maintained
  throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Basic Certificate issued by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). 
• Possession and maintenance of firearms qualification.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications and supplemental questionnaires received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of four Oral Panel Interview (Technical - weighted 30%; Tactical - weighted 30%; Community - weighted 30%; and Presentation - weighted 10%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 80% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Police department will make the hiring decision.

FACILITY MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

Under the general direction of the District Manager, performs facility maintenance and safety evaluations on the District’s buildings and surrounding grounds and performs related work and supportive services as required. Wastewater Operator II - A journey level classification in the Wastewater Operator series. The ideal candidate must be skilled in basic principles of mechanical, maintenance, and electrical systems. Must be able to recognize and report unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating situations. Must have working knowledge of the functions and purpose of wastewater disposal systems; routine cleaning and basic operation of wastewater treatment equipment. Must have knowledge of algebra and geometry as required to perform the responsibilities of the position; basic knowledge of electronics and hydraulics. Must have excellent communication skills, work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work, and have a dedication to safe working practices. Must be able to work on-call as assigned. The ideal candidate  must be skilled in inspecting, operating, and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant and related lift stations including primary, secondary, tertiary and solids treatment processes. Must be able to recognize inefficient, unusual, or dangerous operating conditions. Solid experience in basic principles of mechanical, maintenance, and electrical systems; algebra and geometry; basic knowledge of electronics and hydraulics.  Must have good trouble shooting skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, training and leadership abilities, and have a dedication to safe working practices. Must be able to independently perform plant operations work; work on-call as assigned.

San Mateo County Health is excited to be able to offer a full-time, benefited, unique job opportunity to well-qualified individuals for the position of Supervising Nurse Practitioner (Supervising NP) Forensic Medical Unit, as part of San Mateo Medical Center's Keller Center.

The Keller Center for Family Violence Intervention is a unique outpatient medical unit affiliated with San Mateo Medical Center Emergency Department. We perform forensic medical exams on victims of assault and abuse and work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team that includes law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, Child Protective Services, Aging and Adult Services, and several community agencies. We also provide education and serve as a resource for other community hospitals and clinics.

The Supervising Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with the Medical Director of Specialty Services and Deputy Director of Ambulatory Nursing in planning, organizing and directing the activities and staff of the Keller Center along with developing standards of practice for forensic exams and reporting. This classification is distinguished from the Nurse Practitioner Series for having full administrative supervisory responsibility over other Nurse Practitioners. The selected individual will spend up to 30% of time in direct patient care at SMMC, which includes performing forensic medical exams for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse and child abuse. Testifying in court will be part of the job responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

• At least two years of forensic examination training and experience
• Trauma Informed Care training and experience
• Experience bringing diverse viewpoints and stakeholders together successfully to accomplish goals and commands the trust and respect of others
• Interest in team-based care and creating a positive patient experience, and has demonstrated innovation and initiative in realizing that vision
• Has overseen and led complex projects and coordinated interdisciplinary teams
• Has at least two years of experience in supervising and mentoring others
• At least three years of experience as a Practitioner, and a minimum of six months of lead or supervisory experience overseeing clinical care

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Nurse Practitioner Certification.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Furnishing Number.
• Possession of a DEA Number.

Education and Experience:

• Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is three years of practice within a specialty area or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
