• Sanitize surfaces, repair minor plumbing problems, diagnose basic sewer issues, replace components on fixtures.
• Maintain area(s) as assigned including pump stations of treatment plant, performing basic repairs, inspections and landscaping.

About The Position

We are seeking highly motivated, highly skilled, innovative and enthusiastic individuals to join the Recreation and Human Services Division with the City of Half Moon Bay.  As a critical member of this team you’ll be responsible for assisting in organizing and conducting a variety of recreation programs and activities.

What You Will Do

• Open, secure and close City facilities.
• Arrange chairs, tables and other equipment for events held at City facilities.
• Arrange audio system and room set-up for City Council, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee meetings.
• Monitor activities during the facility rentals and other facility usage including monitoring the time of access and departure of the group, monitoring set up and clean up quality provided by the group to ensure that department standards are met. Inspect facilities after usage ends. 
• Accept and file facility rental paperwork and drop in fees. 
• Provide customer service in person or by phone by orienting users, answering questions and resolving problems.
• Enforce department rules including facility rental policies.
• Communicate with the community in both English and Spanish (preferred).
• Work evenings and weekends as needed. 
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of this classification. Knowing that any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Such as:

Building Attendant I: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent, and no experience working in a recreation setting.  Experience working in a recreation setting can substitute for the diploma or equivalent.

Building Attendant II: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and two (2) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Building Attendant III:  Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and four (4) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or four (4) years of recreation leadership experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Knowledge of:

• Basic mathematical functions.
• Equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program.
• Modern computer equipment and Microsoft Office suite programs and browsers.

Skill to:

• Set up audio and video systems and other devices as needed.
• Maintain an even disposition under pressure and trying circumstances.
• Read general diagrams for event set ups.
• Communicate clearly and understandably, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to:

• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers including, vendors, renters and instructors.

This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.  The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing statistical reports and data using a computer keyboard.  Additionally, the position requires near vision in reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone service and communicating in person.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Community Development Department (CD) is seeking a value-driven team player to fill the position of Planning Intern. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic college level student seeking broad experience within a dynamic City Planning Division. The Planning Division of the Community Development Department administers City Council policies contained in the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and other plans and ordinances. In addition, the Division establishes new and amended rules governing land use and urban design for adoption by City Council from the platform of the General Plan. The Division provides staff, professional service, and administrative support relating to the development, improvement, and preservation of affordable housing opportunities.

The Planning Intern will assist with a number of projects and efforts throughout the Division, which may include:

• Review of minor planning applications and building permits for compliance with required standards
• Prepare approval letters, staff reports, and presentations to the Zoning Administrator
• Shadowing and assisting Planning staff during public counter hours
• Conducting research for various strategic planning studies that could include Redwood City Greater Downtown Area Plan, Historic Preservation Ordinance updates.

The Opportunity
The Deputy Director of Finance assists in planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating the
operations of the Finance Department. This position manages assigned functional areas, which may
include accounting, payroll, revenue and treasury operations, and/or budget planning. The Deputy
Director provides highly responsible technical and professional staff support, serves as a key
member of the department’s leadership team, and performs complex financial and operational
analyses to support the City’s strategic and fiscal objectives.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Director of Engineering Contracts, performs technical work related to preparation of contract documents, requests for proposals and formal bids, and administration of professional services agreements and construction contracts. May act as a liaison between District staff and professional consulting engineering firms or construction contractors. May serve as a contract administrative assistant to project engineers on design and construction projects. Maintains detailed and accurate records of contract compensation invoices, progress payments, status and schedules. Communicates with other District departments regarding engineering contracts. • Assists in preparation of requests for proposals and formal bids, professional services agreements, and construction contract documents
• Assists with the preparation of contract amendments and contract change orders
• Performs invoice reviews and confirms invoices comply with contract requirements
• Reviews contractors' certified payrolls for compliance with contract requirements; performs labor and Small Business Enterprise / Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (SBE/DBE) compliance duties, such as, but not limited to, verifying certified payrolls with inspection daily diaries, performing contractor and sub-contractor employee interviews, verifying on-site postings of Federal and State required notices, keeping current records of Federal and State Wage Determination changes
• Assists with the review of extra work bills from contractors
• Assists with maintaining Engineering Department budgeting and accounting records
• Types correspondence, reports, forms and specialized documents related to the engineering contracts
• Researches information on the Internet and in the electronic and hard copy files for government rules, regulations and codes, historical information and certified documents
• Composes contract correspondence
• Assists with compiling Daily Diaries, matching them to their respective Extra Work Bills and entering the information onto a spreadsheet
• Prepares spreadsheets and reports for project status, summary of submitted invoices, requests for anticipated budget increases, etc.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service

The City of Foster City is seeking a dedicated Code Enforcement Officer I with strong interpersonal skills. The Code Enforcement Officer will perform routine and standardized tasks and duties like conducting field checks to uncover possible violations of a variety of City codes and ordinances including zoning, nuisance, property maintenance, and housing. This position will analyze and make recommendations on policy development and investigate possible violations, contact responsible individuals in person and in writing and perform follow-up investigations to see that remedial action has been taken. 

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: AA degree from an accredited college; BA degree desirable.

Experience: One year of experience in public contact work involving investigation or inspection skills.

Management reserves the right to offer the higher level Code Enforcement Officer II position to candidates whose qualifications meet the established criteria.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration

• ICBO certificate highly desirable. Basic Peace Officer training certificate desirable.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The CDD will make the hiring decision.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Payroll Supervisor -Confidential.  Under general direction of the Financial Services Manager the Payroll Supervisor, plans, organizes, supervises, trains and evaluates the work and activities of assigned staff engaged in payroll operations ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of employee compensation. Primary duties include providing expert level strategic leadership in planning, preparing, processing, and maintaining the City’s payroll and related records and reports, and partnering with Human Resources to recommend and implement payroll policies and procedures to meet City responsibilities with respect to labor agreements, labor laws, payroll tax administration and system updates.

A few typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates, oversees, and participates in the full spectrum of payroll activities; ensures timely and accurate posting of payroll to the financial accounting system; ensures accurate deduction and remittance of garnishments, child support, IRS levies and court orders as administered by vendors or internal staff; and ensures accurate reporting of changes in pay, payroll status, taxes, benefits, deductions, and retroactive pay adjustments.
• Assists in the development, implementation, administration, and prioritization of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for assigned Payroll programs.
• Plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, directs, coordinates, and reviews work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; and works with staff to identify and resolve problems. 
• Participates in coordinating and maintaining payroll system data and is responsible for the execution of internal controls to ensure accuracy of data.

• Participates in the development, implementation, and enhancement of the Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) system including configuration, testing, and validation to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance; subject matter expertise on payroll processes to support ERP system design and enhancement; data migration, system integration, and reconciliation; coordinates needs and customizations to meet the needs of departments and/or sound financial practices; and monitors ERP system performance, recommends enhancements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

• Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides and/or coordinates staff training; develops work performance standards; works with employees to correct deficiencies; and implements discipline and termination procedures in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.

• Assists in the investigation of complaints; suggests corrective actions and recommends and implements improvements.
• Keeps abreast of relevant and applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, City labor agreements, policies and procedures, and payroll best practices; recommends and implements payroll policies and procedures to comply with the applicable rules and regulations.  
• Ensures compliance with reporting mandates; submits appropriate forms and transmits information to government agencies, including the California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Employee Development Department (EDD).
• Ensures CalPERS pension plan extracts are accurate and filed timely; responds to CalPERS payroll reporting inquiries, discrepancies, audit responses, and action plans.
• Develops, maintains, updates, and communicates organization wide payroll policies and processes regarding earnings, deductions, and timekeeping.
• Compiles, analyzes, and reconciles a variety of records in the preparation of documents and reports; conducts complex analysis and prepares reports as required. Coordinates payroll activities with other departments, divisions, and outside agencies and organizations; assists with training and responding to questions from department timekeepers on timekeeping and payroll systems, payroll legislation, and City policy related to payroll.
• Assists with the preparation of data for use in labor negotiations.
