The Department:                                       

The Engineering and Transportation Department is supported by 27 FTEs, 9 contract employees, and a FY 2025-26 Capital Budget of approximately $72.9 million covering infrastructure and transportation projects. The Five-Year CIP (FY 2025-26 to FY 2029-30) totals $372 million, including citywide projects. Major projects include an impressive list of transportation projects, such as the SR84/US101 Freeway Interchange, grade separations along the Caltrain rail line, parking, transportation demand management and Vision Zero implementation, and various traffic calming and roadway projects. Other major projects entail the Transit Center, the Water Master Plan implementation, finalizing and implementing a Recycled Water Master Plan, and various Stormwater System improvements. The City of East Palo Alto is actively seeking a detail-oriented, welcoming, problem solver for the Full-Time Planning Permit Technician position. The Planning Permit Technician performs a variety of routine to complex administrative and technical support duties related to City planning and in support of related services and activities of the Community and Economic Development Department. This role explains ordinances, requirements, City codes, and department procedures for building contractors, architects, engineers, builders, and the general public pertaining to land development, improvement permit requests and concerns. The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Associate Fiscal Analyst for the Budget Services office.   

The Associate Fiscal Analyst plays a key role in developing and implementing the annual budget for California’s 58 trial courts. Responsibilities include: (1) gathering, verifying, and compiling court data to support budget creation, (2) processing payments for trial court reimbursement programs, and (3) preparing monthly distribution templates in the FI$Cal system to allocate operational funding. Summary:
Under general supervision, coordinates, conducts and participates in the delivery of recreational program activities and executes day-to-day operations in assigned units according to established programs, schedules and standards; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: graduation from high school or GED program, and at least 1,500 hours of relevant work experience, with at least 30 units completed in recreation or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Language Ability:
Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to write routine correspondence using correct spelling and grammar.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Certificates and Licenses:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

18-week training program that teaches basic technical and job-readiness skills to prepare participants for a IAM Local 1414 Registered Apprenticeship for the Automotive Mechanic, Machinist, Auto Body Painter, or Body and Fender Repairer. The 18-week program includes eighteen (18) weeks of free academic training through City College of San Francisco, as well as nine (9) weeks paid on-the-job experience. All equipment and uniforms are provided by the program. Individuals are expected to attend all classes and work assignments to complete the program.

First nine (9) weeks of program at CCSF Evans Campus 8 am-4 pm Mon-Thurs. (unpaid)

Second nine (9) weeks 1/2 day class, four (4) hours at CCSF Evans Campus, and four hours a day, four days a week for nine weeks (paid) On-The-Job training.

Under immediate supervision, the 9940 Pre-Apprentice Automotive Mechanic performs semi-skilled trainee work designed to introduce career options and role models in connection with the operation, maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles. As part of a Pre-Apprenticeship program, incumbents learn about the work environment, required skilled mechanical work, and real-life experience to help them find employment as an apprentice and eventually as a journey mechanic. DESCRIPTION

Building Inspector I/II

• Conduct combination field inspections of industrial, commercial, and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling; ensure proper and safe installations of routine and complex building systems; ensure building progress conforms to all applicable California Building Standards (Title 24, California Code of Regulations), City adopted codes and ordinances, and pertinent provisions of Federal, State and County health and environmental ordinances.
• Respond to emergencies when called upon by supervisor, or emergency dispatchers, to assist as technical expert in evaluation of safety.
• Issue permits for work to be performed.
• Review plans and specifications.
• Assist in the plan checking of residential and commercial projects.

• Retrieve, investigate and analyze building, assessor's parcels, files and other computerized records from computer database as required.
• Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the general public in the field and office; explain and interpret requirements and restrictions; review reports from special inspection agencies, engineers, and architects relating to specific projects.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records and prepare reports.
• Monitor compliance, including after violations.

• Conduct review of complex technical documents for conformance with accuracy, industry standards, codes, ordinances, and regulations.

The Department of Public Works is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Technician I/II. Under general supervision, Public Works Technicians perform a variety of routine to journey level sub-professional technical, field, and office civil engineering work in a variety of technical areas.

The current vacant Public Works Technician I/II position is in the Road Operations - Permitting Section of the Road Services Division.

The Road Maintenance Division of County of San Mateo's Department of Public Works is responsible for routine and emergency repairs to over 315 miles of road surfaces, culverts, shoulders, drainage facilities, and roadside vegetation on roads within the public right-of-way of San Mateo County's unincorporated districts.

Public Works Technician I is the entry level class of this technical support series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn technical support and County procedures. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This class is flexibly staffed with Public Works Technician II and incumbents are expected to advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualification of the higher-level class.

Public Works Technician II is the journey level class of this series, fully competent to independently perform a variety of responsible technical support duties. This class is distinguished from the Senior Engineering Aide class which is specialized in scope and technical functions.

• Assist Traffic Engineer with development of traffic control plans, striping plans, etc. as directed.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide information to the public and other governmental agencies, in person or over the telephone, regarding County procedures and regulations, facility locations, plan requirements and property ownership, which may require the interpretation of policies and procedures.
• Ensure permit applications are complete, accurate, and comply with County regulations and public works standards
• Obtain and distribute copies of maps, land descriptions and similar information.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Develop and update permanent files for County retention.
• Use and perform minor maintenance and cleaning on standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of work.
• Use specialized equipment to develop and produce copies of maps, drawings and blueprints.
• Assist in preparing channelization, traffic control and related plans and drawings.
• Investigate public complaints regarding traffic conditions.
• Maintain and analyze records regarding accidents and traffic incidents.
• Collect and maintain records or traffic counts and similar data by placing traffic counters in the field and collecting and recording information.
• Conduct radar speed surveys.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
 

• I level: High school diploma with mathematics courses.
• II level: Two years' experience in providing technical support to a related public works field such as engineering, drafting, construction, surveying or related technical support field.

The City of Foster City is looking for a Public Works Maintenance Worker I who is able to demonstrate competency and increasing independence, knowledge and ability in performing routine and special assignments in a variety of maintenance program areas in the Public Works department. This position is expected to rotate through all the maintenance divisions of streets, lagoons, water, and wastewater. This is a full-time entry-level position. 

The ideal candidate will be an active listener with the ability to understand and follow verbal or written instruction. They will be able to safely operate equipment and tools and recognize the use of safe work practices. This individual will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others and learn and retain information concerning equipment, functions, and projects. This position requires standby and emergency response coverage before or after regular work hours, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Training Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Completion of a job or technical training program in maintenance, or construction, completion of high school or the equivalent.

Experience: One year of full-time experience in general maintenance or construction.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration
Licenses:  Possession of a valid California Class "C" and Class "B" Driver's License. Must obtain valid California Class “B” Driver’s License within six months of appointment.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 50%), Written Exercise (weighted 25%), and Practical Exercise (weighted 25%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Public Works department will make the hiring decision.

The Position

 
The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for entry-level Public Safety Dispatchers.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining
a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.  

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency
  and non-emergency
  telephone and radio traffic.  

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.

• Responsible for various Record Management System (RMS) entries, some of these include but are not limited to citations, warrants, subpoenas. 

• Responsible for accurate and timely entries into the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS), as well as, the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks:
  records entry, assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions. 

• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record.

• Typing certificate issued within the last year verifying minimum typing speed of thirty-five (35) net words per minute with a maximum of nine (9) errors. Typing certificate must be submitted with application to be considered.  Online typing certificate permitted with application; formal test will be administered to final candidate.

• Completion within the last year of the POST Entry Level Dispatcher Selection Test Battery with a preferred minimum
  score of 48 or above;
  or CritiCall Dispatch passing test results within a year of application date.
