Key Responsibilities

• Perform technical and paraprofessional engineering work related to land development review, encroachment permits, capital improvements, infrastructure design, environmental/regulatory compliance, and field inspection services

• Assist in preparing designs, plans, and specifications for public works projects such as streets, storm drains, sanitary sewer lines, and other projects, which may involve data collection and analysis, field surveys, performing related calculations, drafting, and cost estimates.

• Perform limited project and construction management services for various projects.

• Update and maintain Public Works design and construction standards.

• Investigate and resolve work orders, field problems, and complaints from property owners, contractors, and utility providers; and recommend and implement corrective actions.

• Review and process encroachment permits; and provide customer service at the public counter, by phone, email, and virtual platforms.

• Provide courteous and professional assistance at the public counter, by phone, email, and virtual platforms, and answer questions about building permits and the permit process.

• Regularly update the Public Works website as directed.

• Prepare CAD drawings and update GIS mapping databases.

• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visual materials.

• Inspect public works construction and permit-related activities; prepare field notes; and maintain accurate field inspection reports.

• Conduct plan checks for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, Town standards, and best practices

• Respond to service requests and coordinate with team members to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is recruiting a Deputy Fire Chief. This position performs responsible management, technical, personnel, budget and administrative work. Typical duties will include planning, directing, supervising and participating in the activities of one or more major divisions in the Fire Department. Under the direction of the Fire Chief, this position will directly supervise all Battalion Chiefs, Fire Marshal, Emergency Preparedness Outreach Coordinator and fire prevention personnel including sworn and non-sworn professional, technical and support personnel. The Deputy Chief may represent the San Carlos Fire Department as the primary liaison, under direction of the Fire Chief. The Deputy Chief will take command of the Departments in the absence of the Fire Chief, and performs related work as required.

About the role:                   

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Arts & Events is responsible for overseeing the City’s signature community events, cultural programming, and public art initiatives that celebrate Redwood City’s diverse community and vibrant downtown. This position manages the planning, coordination, and production of a wide range of public events including festivals, concerts, cultural celebrations, and arts programming that bring people together and foster community pride.

In addition to event management, this role provides critical support to the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services on all public art initiatives. The Arts and Events Manager serve as the staff liaison to the Arts Commission, manages website content related to the Commission and public art, and leads the implementation and updating of the City’s Public Art Master Plan. The position also ensures compliance with the Percent for Art Ordinance, including public art permit application management, maintaining detailed records of all art in public places (45.070 Section C), and overseeing the recognition and promotion of public art throughout the city.

The Arts and Events Manager collaborate closely with the Economic Development Manager and works with developers as new commercial projects over 50,000 square feet come on board, ensuring compliance with public art requirements.

The Position

The current opening is for a casual, part-time Police Community Service Officer and is under the direction of the Police Sergeant.  The Police Community Service Officer is an entry level, non-sworn, technical support classification associated with law enforcement in the Town Police Department and may perform a variety of responsible duties not requiring the attention of a sworn officer. The focus of the incumbent is parking enforcement.

The City of Foster City is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Building Inspector who is knowledgeable of Building codes and local ordinances to join the Building Division of our Community Development Department. The Department consists of Building, Planning, and Code Enforcement Divisions and is headed by Community Development Director. 

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Graduation from high school or the equivalent. A desired course of additional education would include two (2) years of college course work in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Inspection, or completion of an Apprenticeship Program in a building construction related field.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience including a minimum of two (2) years of full-time plan check experience and two (2) years of progressively increasing responsibility in a variety of municipal building inspection work. Each year of college education in building construction, engineering, drafting, architecture or related courses may substitute for a year of experience.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration

• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License may be required at the time of appointment. For positions where the ability to drive is not an essential function, the employee must be able to arrange reliable and timely transportation through private or public transportation for attendance at off-site meetings, events, and trainings.
• Possession of the International Code Council (I.C.C.) Full Combination Building Inspector Certificate is required at the time of appointment.

Selection Process

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. The Department

The South San Francisco Public Works Department is comprised of its three main divisions - Engineering, Maintenance & Operations, and the Water Quality Control Plant. Located adjacent to San Francisco Bay on Colma Creek, the Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) provides secondary wastewater treatment for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno, and Colma. San Mateo County Health is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Complex Care Program Manager. The County Executive's Office is seeking an experienced and highly skilled professional to fill the position of Contract Administrator I/II. 

The Contract Administrator I/II will support the County Executive, Assistant County Executive, and Deputy County Executives in the development of well-negotiated contracts that align with County goals and will monitor the subsequent expenditures and progress toward those goals.  In addition, the Contract Administrator will work closely with the Chief Legislate Aides of the Board of Supervisors and will support the Project Development Unit of the County Executive’s Office.  The Contract Administrator will also work closely with the County Attorney’s Office for legal guidance and support.

The Contract Administrator will play a key role in drafting agreements for a variety of essential services that have a countywide impact, including the discretionary expenditure of Measure K funds by the Board of Supervisors. Toward that end, the Contract Administrator will work closely with the Chief Legislative Aides of the Board of Supervisors.  The Contract Administrator will also support the Project Development Unit by developing contracts for their construction projects.  The Contractor Administrator will also create contracts for legislative and lobbying expenditures, community impact projects, and partnerships with nonprofit organizations. Critical to success will be the ability to foster effective communication with department heads, community leaders, and other stakeholders.  Also critical will be the ability to work collaboratively with the County Attorney’s Office and the ability to ensure all contract work is complete, consistent, and error-free.  Important in the position will be the ability to draft, review, and analyze Board Memos to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Contract Administrator I is the first working level class in the Contract Administrator series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents perform basic contract administration duties while learning County and programmatic policies, procedures and guidelines. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This class is flexibly staffed with the Contract Administrator II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency, which meet the qualifications of the higher-level class. The annual salary range for Contract Administrator I is $85,488 - $106,870.

Contract Administrator II is the fully experienced, journey level class in this series, capable of independently performing the full range of contract administration duties.  Employees are normally given substantial latitude in determining approaches, procedures, systems, and methods in accomplishing the work goals.  They make basic programmatic decisions that require the exercise of independent judgment and are responsible for coordinating multiple functions or processes. Incumbents at this level are typically assigned the more complex contracts.  The annual salary range for Contract Administrator II is $100,381 - $125,403.

This position is a full-time, on-site position.  The office is at 500 County Center in Redwood City, CA 94063.

• Coordinate the contract development and amendment process with the appropriate stakeholders, including securing appropriate signatures, distributing executed copies, and maintaining comprehensive contract files.
