The Position: 

As a Public Safety Dispatcher I, this non-sworn entry-level classification dispatches public safety, fire, and emergency medical services out into the community. The successful incumbent will be responsible for answering the telephone, accepting emergency and non-emergency requests from the public, transmitting and analyzing information received and dispatching police and fire personnel accordingly. Performs related work as required.  
 
Upon successful completion of a probationary period, incumbent must possess a current POST Basic Dispatch certificate and a Medical Priorities Dispatching System (MPDS) certificate, in order to be eligible for promotion to Public Safety Dispatcher II.

The annual salary range for this position is $104,198.52 - $132,676.80.  This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range. 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

• Two (2) years of paid employment experience requiring a high level of public contact defined as customer service, a call center, or a closely related field where substantial face-to-face or over-the-phone contact was made with the public; or
• One (1) year of experience answering and processing emergency phone calls from the public for law enforcement, fire department, or emergency medical service assistance, including six (6) months of solo status. 

Acceptable Substitution: 

• Possession of a valid California POST Public Safety Dispatcher Basic certificate may be substituted for six (6) months of the required employment experience.

License/Certifications: 

• Possession of a valid California POST Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate and a valid Medical Priorities Dispatching System (MPDS) certificate are required prior to completion of the probationary period.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Classroom education involving fire science or law enforcement related studies.

Housing Specialist I, Term-Limited

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a term-limited Housing Specialist I to join the Housing Division in the Community Development Department. The term-limited Housing Specialist I will focus on the planning and implementation of unhoused services and programs. Under direction of the Housing Officer, Homeless Services Manager, or the Affordable Housing Manager, the term-limited Housing Specialist I will play a key role in the planning and development of new affordable housing, creating new housing programs and unhoused services and programs, implementing the Housing Element, applying for grants/funding to support affordable housing, and monitoring housing legislation. SENIOR APPLICATIONS ANALYST

About the Position:  The Farm Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and construction tasks at Deer Hollow Farm in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Deer Hollow Farm is an educational, working farm with cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and other livestock.  Duties include performing maintenance and construction tasks using hand and power tools, operating and maintaining Farm vehicles, and assisting with daily Farm operations. ABOUT THE POSITION

This position provides professional planning services for property owners, developers, contractors, and the general public; performs professional, technical, statistical, and analytical duties involving land use or planning studies for a variety of public or private development projects; reviews development and land use applications, and zoning and site plans; assists the public in person, via phone and other communication methods, answering questions and providing information regarding zoning, land use, development standards, approved development proposals; completes technical assessments; and related work.
