In this essential role, you will serve as the primary contact and liaison for the City Manager’s Department, working under the general supervision of the Assistant City Manager. As our Executive Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative support including calendar management, budget administration, City event coordination, and public outreach initiatives. You will be responsible for managing a wide range of complex administrative duties with independence, initiative, and sound judgment, supporting staff and elected officials while maintaining confidentiality when required.

How You Will Make an Impact: 

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Risk Analyst to join our highly collaborative and dedicated team in advancing the Housing Authority’s risk management and insurance programs. We strive to create an environment where all team members can contribute to growth and innovation. 

The Risk Analyst will have the opportunity to expand their expertise in risk management, insurance programs, and property mitigation. They will also gain experience in policy development, analytical research, and strategic planning, providing a comprehensive approach to risk management. The Risk Analyst will evaluate, design, and coordinate SCCHA’s risk management efforts, including insurance programs, property and construction risk, and claims management programs. They will help evaluate, manage, and mitigate risks across all agency functions and departments, including physical property and residential real estate, information technology, human resources, capital improvement, and new construction projects. 

In the first year, the Risk Analyst will improve claims/incident report protocols, evaluate and enhance SCCHA’s existing risk management and insurance programs, including researching insurance options in the face of rising insurance costs, and administer SCCHA’s insurance policies and manage insurance-related claims and negotiations. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to insurance and risk management. 

• Proficiency in risk management software and tools. 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

• High level of organization and attention to detail. 

What Our Team Is Looking For:  

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include:  

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field with a major coursework in risk management, business or public administration or a closely related field; and 

• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional experience analyzing, administering, and managing property and casualty liability, risk, and loss control, or closely related insurance activities. 

• Certification as an Associate of Risk Management (ARM) or proof of working towards such certification is highly desirable. 

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at the time of appointment is required as a condition of initial and continued employment to perform the essential functions of the position.

Deputy Director of Environmental Services Water Distribution/Sewer Collection

The City of Sunnyvale is currently recruiting for a Deputy Director of Environmental Services – Water Distribution/Sewer Collection to join the Environmental Services Department. The Deputy Director of Environmental Services – Water Distribution/Sewer Collection leads a team of 46 staff and is  responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the City’s potable and recycled water distribution and sanitary and storm sewer collection systems; ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations; preparing and administering the division’s operating and capital improvement budgets; overseeing asset management and long-term infrastructure planning; coordinating with regional agencies, contractors, and community stakeholders; and fostering a safe, customer-focused, and high-performing team culture.

The Code Enforcement Officer will respond to citizen concerns and proactively identify violations such as property maintenance issues, and zoning infractions. The Code Enforcement Officer is distinguished from the Supervisor by performing work of moderate difficulty and more routine tasks and duties assigned to this position within this classification series. These tasks involve inspections and enforcement of applicable ordinances pertaining to residential and commercial properties, housing, building construction, and other related regulations. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. It is also imperative that the Code Enforcement Officer maintain accurate case files and documentation for possible legal proceedings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Executive Assistant/Deputy District Clerk will be required to attend evening Board/Committee meetings. Meetings may be held in Los Altos or offsite.  This position is part of the General Manager’s office at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work environment for this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by two (2) years of college-level coursework in business or secretarial science and
• Three (3) years of responsible secretarial experience involving assisting executive management or a high-level officials with administrative duties.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Position Duties

The Department of Public Works Fleet Management Division is recruiting to fill one (1) Equipment Mechanic Assistant I/II (EMA I/II) position. The EMA I/II is responsible for performing inspections, communicating with other staff and customers, servicing, installation of electronic electrical equipment, ordering parts, entering data in the fleet management system, road testing and diagnosing problems to make various repairs and adjustments on automotive, heavy truck and/or heavy equipment. While working under general supervision, the EMA I/II will be expected to perform safely and follow all rules required by the City of San Jose. These positions, depending on facility assignment, will require working various shift hours and overtime.
