The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years’ experience performing the full range of technical work in the areas of general accounting and auditing.  Responsibilities include:

• Accounts receivable/payable.
• Reconciling expenditure and revenue accounts including capital assets and long-term debt funds.
• Verifying availability of funds and classification of expenditures.
• Reconciling expenditure and revenue accounts, including land acquisition worksheets, capital assets, and long-term debt funds; reconciling bank statements.
• Assist in processing debt service obligations, including creating payment schedule, paying annual obligations, posting interest on bonds and notes from statement, updating liability balance, and posting journal entries.
• Review credit cards monthly and ensure that transactions are properly coded and approved.
• Providing technical assistance to the Accountant in preparation of the year-end audit.
• Review, post, balance, reconcile, and maintain accurate and confidential accounting and payroll records.
• Assist in gathering data and preparing monthly financial and statistical reports.
• Verify, post, and record a variety of financial transactions; prepare and maintain databases.
• Maintain a variety of ledgers, registers, and journals according to established accounting policies and procedures; reconcile transactions and account statements; record changes and resolve differences; maintain the accuracy of accounting and financial records.
• Report generation.
• Produce journal entries to post  to the general ledger,
• Accurately prepare employee and vendor payments for retirement and other benefits; submit reportable compensation to CalPERS and process payments; prepare Federal and State tax reports.

About the Opportunity

The City of Millbrae is looking for a full-time Planning Manager based in Millbrae, California.

Reporting to the Community Development Director, you will play a pivotal role in managing planning functions, leading staff, and shaping the city’s land use, housing, and environmental policies.

More About You

Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, architecture, public administration, housing, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of required experience.

Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in urban planning or housing, including 1 year in a supervisory or project lead role.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is highly desirable.

San Mateo County Health’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division (BHRS) is excited to launch a new and innovative role supporting individuals newly eligible for services under Senate Bill (SB) 43.  This position is part of a brand-new team created specifically to serve a historically underserved population, expanding access to care for individuals with severe mental illness (SMI) and/or severe substance use disordered (SUD). 

This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape how SB43 is implemented locally, from building systems and partnerships to developing policies, procedures and outcome measures that will define success for this pilot program and beyond. 

The SB43 Program Specialist will work collaboratively with the Facilities Utilization Management, Collaborative Care teams and partners across San Mateo County Health, including Aging and Disability Services, San Mateo Medical Center and regional hospitals and licensed facilities. This position requires strong clinical judgement, systems thinking and the ability to build trust across disciplines and organizations.

There is currently one vacancy for this program.  The position is based in San Mateo, with travel throughout the county and greater Bay Area as needed.

About SB43

Senate Bill (SB) 43 expands the definition of Grave Disability, one of the criteria used to place individuals on involuntary holds. 

Under SB43:

• Severe substance use disorder is added as a qualifying condition.
• Inability to provide for personal safety or necessary medical care is included as a criterion.

• Individuals may be considered gravely disabled when a mental health disorder and/or severe substance use disorder prevents them from meeting basic survival needs, such as maintaining housing or adequate nutrition. 

This legislation enables earlier intervention and expanded pathways to care for individuals who previously fell outside the system, requiring counties to build new processes, partnerships and clinical approaches to serve this population effectively and compassionately. 

Key Responsibilities 

The SB43 Program Specialist may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: 

Clinical Care & Coordination

• Conduct regular visits to in-county and out-of-county (OOC) facilities to review cases and assess appropriate Level of Care (LOC)
• Meet with facility staff and clients to support engagement, transitions and treatment planning
• Participate in treatment reviews and provide clinical recommendations, including individualized behavior plans
• Initiate and coordinate case conferences for high-utilizing clients complex needs

Serve as a clinical resource related to substance use disorder and severe mental illness 

Systems Building and Collaboration

• Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, licensed facilities and contracted providers within and outside San Mateo County
• Act as primary liaison between BHRS, San Mateo Medical Center, Aging and Disability Services and partner hospitals
• with the SMMC, BHRS and AAS to facilitate and coordinate appropriate level of care and placement
• Participate regularly in multidisciplinary team meetings, hospital coordination meetings and SB43 meetings
• Facilitate planning groups to address SB43 implementation priorities and emerging system needs

Program Development and Oversight

• Contribute to the development, refinement and implementation of SB43 policies and procedures
• Identify Service gaps, system challenges and operational shortfalls, and support solutions in collaboration with partners

• Assist with monitoring and consulting with in-county and OOC contract providers
• Train facilities on new SB43 placement criteria and compliance requirements
• Develop, update and maintain an electronic facility database to support data tracking and outcomes analysis

Leadership and Support

• Participating in required leadership meetings
• Providing coverage and support for other supervisors as needed
• Provide clinical supervision and training to interdisciplinary staff as needed
• Apply basic knowledge of Listen, Empathize, Agree, and Partner (LEAP) Methodology and other engagement strategies to support client-centered care

• Experience building and maintaining effective partnerships with hospitals, licensed facilities, and contracted providers
• A client-centered approach paired with a system-level perspective, balancing individual needs with program goals and regulatory requirements
• Flexibility, critical thinking, and creativity in navigating a new legal framework and evolving service model
• Comfort working in a pilot environment that requires innovation, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement

• Relevant post-licensure clinical experience (ideally two or more years) providing direct mental health services (desirable but not required)

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly desirable.

The Department: 

The City of Santa Clara is looking to fill multiple As-Needed- Temporary Employee positions to support the Annual Cleanup Campaign. Successful incumbents will be assigned to work as ground crews shoving, sweeping, and lifting up to 50lbs of debris left by Santa Clara residents.

The Position: 

In this temporary employment opportunity, you will gain valuable experience working with the public and demonstrate teamwork amongst your peers as you become part of a dedicated crew.

A mandatory paid orientation is tentatively scheduled for April, 2026, where employees will receive training, safety boots, and the necessary equipment to perform the job. This position will work from 6:45am-4:15pm, 40-45 hours a week, Monday-Friday between April 27, 2026 - May 22, 2026. 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

About the Position: The Supervising Ranger is a dynamic and impactful leadership role with broad responsibility, exercising sound judgement and meaningful independence, while overseeing patrol operations across Midpen preserves. The position leads and mentors a team of sworn district peace officers, coordinates emergency response efforts, builds positive relationships with the public and key stakeholders, represents the District at public meetings, and works collaboratively with departments throughout the organization.

Successful candidates are people-focused leaders who can inspire and guide staff in both day-to-day operations and critical incidents.  The role calls for clear and effective communication, the ability to work with tact and diplomacy, and a commitment to public safety and resource protection.  Responsibilities also include enforcing applicable laws and regulations; administering first aid, providing Emergency Medical Response as a first responder, operating emergency patrol vehicles and two-way radios; and supporting wildland fire suppression efforts  as needed. Assigned Location: Midpen is currently seeking to fill one Supervising Ranger position, reporting to an Area Superintendent. This assignment is scheduled to begin in July 2026, and will be based at the Foothills Field Office in Cupertino (Address: 501 Rancho San Antonio Drive, Cupertino, CA 95014). The District reserves the right to reassign employees to other locations as staffing and service requirements evolve.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments.  Outdoor work includes exposure to inclement weather conditions. Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) has an excellent career opportunity for an experienced and motivated Area Manager who will plan, organize, manage, oversee, and participate in all activities of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department. This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and oversees 19 staff with four direct reports and seasonal employees. This position will be assigned to the Skyline Area of the District. The City of Foster City is seeking a Police Sergeant to join our Police Department.  This leadership position is crucial in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and fostering community relations with our diverse city. 

Under general or direct supervision, the Police Sergeant plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of officers and non-sworn staff on an assigned shift within the Police Department. They perform the full range of field and office work in connection with patrol, traffic, investigative, youth services, and training programs. The Police Sergeant assists in the preparation of cases and testifies in court,  fosters cooperative working relationships with other City departments, outside agencies, and the public served, and provides complex staff assistance to management staff in areas of expertise.

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by sixty (60) semester units of college level coursework in criminal justice, criminology, police science or a related field at an accredited institution.

Experience:  Three (3) years of full-time, increasingly responsible, sworn law enforcement experience with a California Law Enforcement Agency which includes lead responsibility. One (1) year of first line supervisor experience is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, and a good driving record, to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a Basic Certificate issued by the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications and supplemental questionnaires received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Assessment Center which will include two oral board panels and one presentation. The oral boards will focus on Technical Skills and Community Relations, with each panel weighted at 40%. The presentation, based on a topic that will be announced closer to the testing date, will be weighted at 20%.  An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 80% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Police department will make the hiring decision.
