The salary range listed above reflects the full compensation potential for this position. However, initial salary placement will typically be at the lower end of the range and will not exceed 97% of the range maximum. Placement within the range will be based on the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. Progression through the range may occur over time, subject to continued service, good performance evaluations, and the City’s administrative policies.

This is a grant funded position that is funded through February 4, 2029. 

Opportunity to work a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off.

This position is full-time on-site position that actively supports department operations.  

Future MOU salary increases: 2.5% on 7/1/27.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Join the City of Gilroy and help shape the future of community preparedness, recovery, and resilience. The City is recruiting for a full-time dynamic and forward-thinking Community Resilience Coordinator (CRC) to join the Administration Department in a role that makes a real impact.

Additional responsibilities include developing solutions to reduce disaster risks, securing and managing mitigation grant funding, delivering community resilience education and training, and effectively engaging, partnering, and collaborating with a variety of officials, local, state, and federal agencies, businesses, community services, both public and private, concerning the related work and goals of the City. Moreover, the CRC will undertake related special projects with citywide significance, and perform other related duties as required. This position is considered essential personnel during City emergencies and is expected to be available to staff and support the Emergency Operations Center.

This is an exempt, mid-management level position that must exercise competent discretion and judgement in the performance of duties and interactions with others.

The goal of the Fire Inspector Trainee position is to increase the number and diversity of qualified prospects for the position of Fire Inspector. 

Training and opportunity to obtain Fire Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D Certificates, Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness Training, complete the SFM Task Book for Fire Inspector 1 and obtain an Inspector I Certificate from ICC in conjunction with on-the-job training.  

Under the general direction of the Fire Marshal, performs on-site inspections of new and existing buildings; witnessing various tests required for sophisticated fire protection equipment and verifying proper operation and compliance with laws, ordinances, regulations, standards and guidelines in accordance with the Fire District's jurisdictional authority; prepares necessary correspondence, reports and records; confers with architects, engineers, developers, etc., with regards to projects; assists in the compliance with the Districts hazard abatement ordinance; performs surveys of fire hazards and processes complaints; development and delivery of public education and public relations programs; assignment to functional areas based on operational need; is expected to perform the essential functions of each functional area; and performs other duties as assigned.

While we can be flexible with scheduling, the ideal candidate will commit at least 24–32 hours per week.

Under general supervision, provides a variety of routine to complex clerical support services within assigned police areas, including but not limited to: typing, word processing, transcribing detailed and confidential material, record keeping and filing, and assisting with the administration of the Police Department’s budget. Performs related work as assigned.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Police Office Assistant is a journey-level position, fully competent to independently perform a variety of office support duties. All positions are characterized by the presence of fairly clear guidelines from which to make decisions and the availability of supervision in non- routine circumstances. Specific duties, including the amount of typing, word processing, and use of on-line or personal computers, will vary with the organization unit to which assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Types correspondence, reports, and specialized documents related to the functions of the police unit to which assigned from drafts, notes, dictated tapes, or brief instructions, using a typewriter or word processor.
• Proofreads and edits as necessary typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance with departmental policies and correct English usage, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Enters and retrieves data and prepares reports from an on-line or personal computer system, following established formats.
• Prepares and updates a variety of reports which may require the use of arithmetic calculations.
• Maintains records and processes forms such as payroll records, purchase requisitions and orders, and others specific to the organizational unit.
• Provides clerical support to the department in the implementation of operational business plans.
• Assists in the administration of internal and external contracts for interagency services with other agencies.
• Assists the Police Office Coordinator with the administration of the department budget by monitoring the budget for variances, recommending budget transfers, and balancing the overall budget at year-end.

• Views and handles confidential backgrounds and personnel files of prospective and future employees.

• Issues and maintains identification files; seals juvenile and adult arrest records.
• Receives subpoenas, notifies appropriate parties and maintains subpoena files.
• Handles confidential information, including case files, criminal information bulletins, fingerprints, and other related material.
• Serves as the Police Department’s back-up liaison to the Finance Department on matters concerning the Police Department budget.

The Department: 

Silicon Valley Power is a not-for-profit municipal electric utility serving the City of Santa Clara since 1896, delivering reliable and competitively priced electricity to over 55,000 customers, including many of the world’s largest data centers and technology companies. With one of the nation’s highest load densities and a peak demand exceeding 700 MW, SVP supports rapid regional growth through a robust transmission and distribution system and ongoing substation and infrastructure expansion and reinforcement. The utility supplies a power mix that is heavily clean and carbon-free sourced from hydro, wind, solar, and geothermal assets.

• Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.; and
• Completion of a recognized three-year apprenticeship program as a Lineworker is required.

License/Certifications: 

• Possession of a valid California Class A Driver's license is required, or
• Possession of a valid California Class C license at the time of appointment and the ability to obtain a California Class A license within six months of employment.
• Incumbents in this position are required to become rubber glove certified as a condition of holding the classification of Journey Lineworker within nine (9) months of appointment.

Other Requirements:  

• Incumbents of this classification may be required to work outside their regularly scheduled hours, and to be available for emergency and/or pre-arranged work whenever called upon.

Under the supervision of the Fire Marshal, is responsible for performing plan review, construction inspections, and other duties as required.   The position will also be involved to varying degrees with public education, public relations, exterior hazard abatement, engine company pre-fire planning, record keeping, and report writing.

Other duties include: attending meetings with other local government agencies such as planning and building departments, architects, contractors, developers, and the general public.  Utilizes the District’s citation process when appropriate and when other means of gaining voluntary compliance are unsuccessful. Provides supervision, work direction and technical assistance as directed. Utilizes tools and technology identified by the District related to performance of tasks. Performs surveys of fire hazards and processes complaints; conducts and participates in public education and public relations programs; performs other related duties as directed. 

The Department

The Community Services Department plays a key role in enhancing the community and ensuring the citizens of Fremont receive excellent customer service through the management of recreation facilities, quality recreation and environmental programs, and park planning.

The Position

The primary focus of the Park Ranger/Naturalist is to enhance park safety and visitor experience through consistent patrol, community engagement, and responsive customer service. Additionally, the incumbent may conduct natural resource protection and environmental education programs.

Examples of Job Duties

• Work in prescribed uniform and is responsible for general patrol and supervision of City of Fremont’s parks, plazas and trails.
• Develop and deliver ranger interpretive programming in an urban park setting, including nature education, guided walks and public outreach.
• Provide high-quality customer service to park visitors, responding to questions, concerns, and safety needs in a professional manner.
• Perform homeless response strategies and mitigation efforts, such as posting notice to abate nuisance tags, collection on unattended property and removal of debris.
• Promote park stewardship and resource protection through public engagement, education, and field presence.

The Housing Authority is seeking an exceptional, team-oriented candidate to oversee projects and initiatives in support of the Alameda Housing Authority (AHA)’s affordable housing development and neighborhood revitalization programs in the City. This may include new construction development, acquisition and rehabilitation of properties, and development for projects for AHA’s nonprofit development affiliate, Island City Development. AHA’s pipeline of multifamily projects includes serving family, homeless, workforce, and senior populations and managing major renovation of occupied properties within AHA’s portfolio. The Senior Project Manager will also manage a wide range of consultant relationships and may supervise one or more junior staff.

AHA is particularly interested in applications from candidates with a strong track record in successful management of affordable real estate development and housing new construction, and familiarity with various related federal, state, and local regulations. Desirable candidates will be knowledgeable about zoning and environmental regulations 
related to affordable development, experienced with development and administration of consultants and contracts, and have experience with public, private and non-profit affordable housing funding sources such as the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, Project based Section 8 and Tax-exempt bonds.
