The Department

The Library and Community Services department is responsible for providing excellent customer service through recreational, educational, and cultural programs for children, adults and seniors. The Town of Colma Recreation Services Department is currently accepting applications for Recreation Leaders for Summer 2024.  The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. JOB SUMMARY: The Facilities Technician reports to the Assistant Manager, Facilities and is responsible for providing building maintenance services at the District facilities in accordance with established standards and procedures.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on all facilities according to manufacturers’ specifications and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform basic facility repairs including painting, carpentry, plumbing, heating and cooling (HVAC), hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Complete daily work orders in a timely fashion in accordance with District standards.
• Respond to facility-related emergencies 24/7 during assigned periods in rotation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
• Perform scheduled maintenance, provide emergency response services and make repairs, and repair tools and equipment and monitor building maintenance contracts.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are recorded, organized, and complete. Records must be readily available for reference, audit, and quality control.
• Collaborate with District departments to obtain work scope information, discuss options, collect job details and estimate labor and material costs relating to work order.
• Inspect and report on functional operation of buildings, grounds and related facility systems including: heating and cooling systems, fueling and lubrication systems, storm, plumbing, potable water, sewer and industrial waste systems, fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems, electrical power and lighting systems, in-ground hydraulic lift systems, bus parking designation markings, roofing systems, bus exhaust evacuation systems, roll up access doors and roll up fire doors, and environmental protection systems.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of maintenance tasks performed and status of District facilities.
• Develop and maintain a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
• Maintain open communications with other departments; develop and maintain effective internal relationships. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Must participate in weekend and holiday on-call rotation.
• Safely operate a variety of maintenance vehicles.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.

SUPERVISION: Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Manager, Facilities, who establishes goals and objectives and evaluates performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years full-time industrial building/facility maintenance experience, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
• Must have valid California driver’s license with a safe driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• General experience troubleshooting electrical systems, heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
• Able to work safely in different kinds of weather conditions and workspace environments.
• Able to safely lift 50lbs and climb/work on ladders and other equipment.

DEFINITION:

The Director of Public Works is considered a Department Director with responsibility for directing the activities of a Department within the City. THE POSITION: The Public Works Department at the City of San Mateo has an opportunity for up to four (4) interns who will assist on various municipal projects. Positions are considered for the following fields of interest:

 

• Capital Improvement Program (CIP) – Civil engineering majors with an interest in capital improvement projects, design of civil infrastructure, and construction delivery procedures. Assist with project standards, standard specifications and drawings, CAD drafting, plan review, construction cost estimates, data collection and analysis.

 

• Transportation Planning/Traffic Engineering – Civil engineering majors with an interest in parking, transportation, and traffic engineering. In conjunction with the Two-County (San Mateo and Santa Clara) Regional Internship Program, the City of South San Francisco offers paid summer internship opportunities for current undergraduate and graduate college students who are interested in contributing to the community. An internship with the City of South San Francisco offers valuable, real-world job experience in a local government setting. Through this internship, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of programs and services, while enhancing and sharpening your writing, presentation, research, analysis, and critical thinking skills. As part of the Two-County Regional Internship Program, this experience will also be supplemented with learning forums and access to professionals in your interested field.

These paid positions are part-time and do not include benefits. The intern position is a temporary assignment for summer 2024. These positions include flexible scheduling and College/University credit may be provided, as applicable. Interns receive direction and guidance from a supervisor who is traditionally part of the management staff.

 

Project Description

Intern will work with fleet management staff to populate fleet management software with data and create custom reports with data. Intern will also be involved in integration and migration of data from other platforms such as fueling logs.

 

Project Outcomes

This project will aid in streamlining fleet operations, inform future policy and purchases, and improve data retention. Intern will learn to plan and complete a multi-faceted project requiring cross departmental collaboration.

THE POSITION:

The ideal candidate for Police Officer will be an individual with a high commitment to customer service, a proven record of integrity, and the ability to work comfortably in a small-town atmosphere enjoyed by the residents of Atherton.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record; POST certification to include demonstrated firearms proficiency and qualification; complete a comprehensive background investigation including a polygraph, psychological, and medical examination. 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

The current monthly salary for these positions ranges depending on the job title and experience.

Police Trainee - $8709.15 per month;  Police Officer - $10,538.83 - $12,810.01.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for Extra Help-Cook within the Yuba County Jail. Under close supervision, prepares and provides institutional meals following federal and state nutritional guidelines, and performs other duties as assigned.  Yuba County staffs the Cook classification at the County Jail division in the Sheriff’s department  This position performs a full range of tasks associated with the preparation and distribution of meals to juvenile detainees and adult inmates.  The incumbent ensures that properly prepared nutritional meals are produced in a large volume, institutional setting.  Responsibilities also include overseeing detainees and/or inmates and institution workers assisting with food preparation. 

For successful performance, the incumbent would be required to have knowledge of principles, methods and equipment used in high volume meal preparation in an institutional setting; basic food groups and nutritional values; safe work practices related to food preparation, storage and service; basic business arithmetic; and basic inventory and record keeping principles and practices. Skill in overseeing and preparing meals in a large scale, institutional setting; overseeing and training others in basic cooking and work procedures; operating, cleaning and performing minor maintenance to large institutional food preparation and cooking equipment; maintaining accurate records and preparing work related reports; directing others in work procedures; and reading, understanding and following recipes and oral and written directions. Ability to interpret instructions and menus given by supervisor; know and understand how to clean and use kitchen equipment; observe inmates at work site; solve operational problems; remember cooking instructions; and explain work procedures to staff and inmate workers; supervise a kitchen facility utilizing inmate workers; and maintain intense concentration on activities going on around one’s location on a constant basis throughout the entire work shift. This is only a representative summary of the major duties and abilities for this position.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff.   The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated.  The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system.
