The City of Sausalito is seeking candidates who have a passion for planning and building, love people, and are avid learners to fill one full-time Permit Technician position to serve the Planning and Building Divisions in the Community Development Department.

Sausalito employees in this unit work four nine-hour days, Monday - Thursday for 36 hours a week.

The successful candidate will work seamlessly supporting the Planning team, Code Enforcement, the Building Inspector, and Chief Building Official in processing permit applications and in providing public counter services for both the planning and building divisions of the Community Development Department. 

The Building and Planning Permit Technician processes permits, issues over the counter permits, collects fees, advises the public, routes and collects plans to and from appropriate departments or consultants, reviews basic drawings and plans and permit packages for completeness, and performs related administrative/general office support and other duties as assigned to support both the building and planning divisions of the community development department. The class title for this position is Permit Technician.

The Assistant or Associate Planner administers mid-level to complex current and advanced planning activities, including serving as project manager for complex development applications and special projects. The incumbent administers specified activities in such areas as zoning, advance planning, and environmental impact studies, protection, and compliance, as well as the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The Associate Planner provides information and assistance to property owners, developers, contractors, and the public, in addition to providing complex professional assistance to the Community Development Director, City Council, Planning Commission, and others in areas of expertise.

Yuba Water Agency is seeking a skilled, detail-driven Construction Inspector II to support major infrastructure projects that protect communities, enhance water reliability, and strengthen the region’s long-term resilience. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact public works—from dam safety improvements to hydropower facilities, and recreation facilities—while contributing to one of California’s most forward-thinking water agencies.

The Construction Inspector II plays a vital part in ensuring that Yuba Water Agency’s capital projects are built safely, accurately, and in full compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This position conducts daily field inspections, documents construction progress, verifies contractor work, and collaborates closely with engineers, project managers, and external partners. The work is hands-on, technical, and essential to delivering high-quality infrastructure that serves the people of Yuba County.
Some key initiatives you’ll work on:

• Dam Safety and Reliability Project                                                                                                          Inspection of spillway improvements, embankment work, instrumentation installations, and other critical dam-related construction.

Recruitment Timeline

Under the general supervision of the Planning and Building Director, the Building Inspector I/II is responsible for inspecting construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes and regulations. This role involves conducting all residential, resale and commercial inspections, investigating complaints, providing technical guidance to applicants, coordinating with external agencies, time limits of completion enforcement and assisting at the building counter. The position requires a high level of independence and discretion.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders 

This recruitment is for spring, summer and fall events and activities beginning March 9th, such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Jazz and Blues, Fourth of July, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, Halloween and other fun classes, activities, and events. Ideal candidates will be available to referee Monday through Thursday each week and/or to staff events on Friday evenings from June through August and occasional Saturdays. 

Pay: $16.90 - $17.90/ Hr.

The City of Sausalito is recruiting part-time temporary help for the spring, summer, and fall seasons of recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.  

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

• Reliable transportation to and from games or events
• Ability and commitment to arrive on time and remain until duties are completed and you are released
• Confidence and capability to manage conflict with grace and calm
• Commitment to long hours, days, evenings, or on weekends depending on the assigned event schedule
• Must be 14 years of age or older and must obtain a WORK PERMIT if under 18
• Able to work independently
• Excellent people skills
• Strong ability to follow directions
• Ability to lift and carry 25lbs

The Police Communications Dispatcher receives and processes routine and emergency calls. The incumbent will dispatch police and enter, retrieve, and use data from various automated law enforcement information systems. The individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the department’s operations.
