Under the direction of the City Manager, performs a wide variety of responsible, confidential, and complex administrative, technical, and secretarial duties for those in the City Manager’s Office; acts as a liaison with City departments, staff, outside agencies, and the public; and supports the efficient operation of the City Manager’s office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Administrative support to the City Manager and Executive staff;

The Source Test Section performs source emission tests at regulated facilities for compliance determination, emission factor development, and information gathering. The County of San Mateo Family Health Services Division is seeking an experienced and qualified Senior Community Worker to join the Healthy Families San Mateo County Program. Healthy Families San Mateo County is an evidence-based home visiting program that supports pregnant people and new parents to have the healthiest start for their babies. The Senior Community Worker will work to promote the health of pregnant people and their babies, improve birth outcomes, strengthen parent-child bonding, and create a healthy environment for the entire family by providing intensive home visiting services to families in San Mateo County. The Senior Community Worker will make referrals to community and other agencies, coordinate care with hospitals and medical providers, educate and counsel new parents, act as a resource for staff on medical and nursing issues, interpret medical records and make recommendations.

Qualifications

Note: The level and scope of the knowledge and skills listed below are related to job duties as defined under Distinguishing Characteristics.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way of gaining the knowledge and skills is;

• Two years of experience providing community services of a remedial and educational nature which includes experience counseling and conducting outreach to the client population served.

Licensure/Certification:

• This position requires possession of a class C California driver license or equivalent.

Physical Demands:
Must possess mobility to work in the field as well as an office environment; to operate a motor vehicle for home visits, jail visits, to attend meetings, and visit various County sites; to inspect sites including client homes; vision and smell to assess environmental situations, identify conditions, and to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking on uneven terrain, and climbing and descending structures to access client homes and interact with members of the community. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift and carry materials, objects, and children weighing up to 60 pounds, with the use of proper equipment.

Environmental Elements:
Employees frequently work outdoors and are exposed to varying weather conditions, loud or excessive noise levels, unpleasant odors, dust, fumes, allergens, vermin, parasites, or insects, toxic substances; infectious agents, and cold and/or hot temperatures. Incumbents may be exposed to blood and body fluids performing duties. Protective clothing such as gloves, masks, or gown may be necessary when performing client assessments or when supporting client job training. he Senior Project Manager is responsible for the developing, managing, and administering capital funded design and construction of projects of the infrastructure and capital project development department for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). 

The Bus Infrastructure and Capital Projects Department oversees the delivery of major bus fleet and facilities infrastructure projects for SamTrans. The department’s projects include design and construction of zero emission infrastructure (battery electric bus (BEB) charging infrastructure and hydrogen fuel cell electric bus (FCEB) infrastructure) for SamTrans's revenue and non­revenue fleet of nearly 400 vehicles, sea level rise and flood mitigation structures, bus administration, transportation, and maintenance buildings, and other structures at SamTrans' North Base and South Base Maintenance Facilities. 

 

 

 

Essential Functions & Duties

• Responsible for overall management of scope, schedule, budget, and quality of assigned capital projects from initiation to closeout. 
• Manage projects through design, procurement, and construction. 
• Manage consultant and in-house staff in formal reviews of design submittals, including engineering drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules. 
• Oversee construction contract to ensure compliance with contract requirements. 
• Manage coordination and communications with all stakeholders, obtain input, collaborate, and build consensus. 
• Represent SamTrans at Board, Commission, Council, and Community Meetings. 
• Responsible for the selection, management and ultimate successful delivery of vendors, contractors, and other professional services for infrastructure projects. 
• Manage consultants and professional level staff outside of the agency. Ensure District DBE, SBE and other labor compliance policies are followed.

• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies during project implementation, and ensure compliance with their administrative guidelines.
• Develop, negotiate, and monitor contracts and cooperative agreements with other governmental agencies, private consultants, and private contractors.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in personnel, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, and four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional human resources experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity, are required. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $132,749 to $162,905. Remote work is not available for this position. The City is proud to offer a competitive total compensation package with the following highlights:

• Instruct official certification courses using guidelines established by the Southern California. Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) and the CRPD Sports Office
•  Submit a list of individuals successfully completing official's course to SCMAF for certification.
•  Confirm certified officials have complied with SCMAF requirements
• Participate in league manager meetings
• Communicate with league managers, answer inquiries from players and managers
• Observe and evaluate officials at league games; compile written evaluations of all officials
• Review league rules and make recommendations for rule changes; provide rule interpretations
•  Organize athletic facility so programing may be conducted in a safe and fair manner
• Officiate with professionalism and fairness using approved officiating mechanics
• Enforce and administer decisions of the game in accordance with SCMAF and CRPD League Rules

Education/Experience: Minimum age of 18 years old with a High School Diploma (or GED). At least 1,000 hours of experience in officiating.

Certificates and Licenses:

• SCMAF and/or CIF Officials Certification
• Adult and Pediatric First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of hire
• California Driver’s License and proof of insurance
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
• Proof of negative TB skin test

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to write
routine correspondence using correct spelling and grammar. Ability to add, subtract,
multiply, and divide in whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common

relationships with fellow employees, volunteers, and participants and/or parents/guardians.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The employee may provide guidance or direction to other part-time employees and to volunteers.

Selection Process:

Examination:
Candidate selection will be based on competitive examinations. Test content will be related to the job. A driver license will be requested for identification and admission to the testing area. If there is more than one part to an examination, candidates must pass each part. Candidates with passing scores will be asked to compete in successive parts of the examination.

• Written Test/Practical Exercise:  A written test and a practical exercise may be used, in addition to the appraisal interview. 
• Appraisal Interview:  A job related appraisal interview will be conducted to evaluate and compare participating candidates’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in relation to those factors which job analysis has determined to be essential for successful performance of the job.
• After the Appraisal Interview, the top candidates will be invited to a staff interview.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Associate Long Range Planner within the Community Development Department’s Planning Division. This position, which will be focused primarily on long range planning activities, is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to lead or participate in numerous long range efforts underway including:
 

• Greater Downtown Area Plan, an update of the City’s vision for Downtown and adjacent neighborhoods
• Update to the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance
• Development of objective design standards
• Implementation of the City’s Housing Element
• Research, tracking, and implementation of new State laws
• Development of policies and standards to address climate change risks in coordination with Engineering and Public Works Departments
• Regular maintenance and updates to City’s zoning code and General Plan

In addition to long range planning activities, this position will be assigned a limited number of current planning projects depending on Planning Division needs. The position allows for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days working remotely).

Under general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director, the Associate Long Range Planner performs a variety of complex technical planning activities and completes work related to assigned areas of responsibility.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Supports development of City policy related to land use, urban design, housing, transportation, and related topics to support long range planning initiatives;
• Conducts research and analysis supporting planning studies and assists in preparation of planning reports and documents;
• Analyzes and prepares amendments to the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance;
• Provides technical assistance to other City staff and to the public in planning and development matters;
• Evaluates and analyzes small- and medium-sized development projects and proposals for compliance with City goals, policies, and ordinances and, as needed, facilitates environmental analysis;
• Facilitates applications for planning permits and environmental review, project manages their review by City staff, and prepares associated staff reports and presentations for the Zoning Administrator, Planning Commission, City Council, and other boards, commissions, and committees;
• Meets with applicants, professionals, citizens, organizations, etc. related to their projects and/or long range policy;
• Attends meetings of and makes presentations before community groups, the Planning Commission, City Council, boards, commissions, and committees, and other governmental bodies in coordination with supervisory staff, as required;
• Staffs the planning counter as needed;
• May be designated as liaison for the Architectural Advisory Committee or Historic Resources Advisory Committee at the direction of the Planning Manager or Community Development Director;
• Performs related duties as assigned.
