THE DEPARTMENT

THE POSITION

This Administrative Assistant II is an executive secretarial classification, normally coordinating the office administrative work of a department in addition to personally performing multiple secretarial duties to ensure the efficient service provision of the assigned department. Responsibilities require the frequent use of tact, discretion, and independent judgement as well as a knowledge of departmental and City activities. This class is distinguished from other office administrative classes in that the nature, scope, and diversity of responsibilities originating at a departmental level require a broader understanding of City functions and the capability of relieving a department head and/or related management, supervisory, and professional staff of day-to-day office administrative and coordinative duties.

The Position

In June 2025, the County’s Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to reestablish a countywide human trafficking prevention pilot program in the District Attorney’s Office. The pilot program is an investment in technology and expertise to provide education and outreach, protect victims, prevent exploitation, identify traffickers, and bring perpetrators to justice.

 

Working under the direction of and closely with the Director of Interjurisdictional Operations, the Human Trafficking Prevention Analyst (Prevention Analyst) will help conduct research and track and collect data regarding human trafficking crime activity, as well as targeted prevention efforts, to guide the county’s efforts to combat human trafficking and support the victim/survivors. 

 

The Prevention Analyst will work closely with partner agencies – including community-based organizations, law enforcement agencies, agencies providing victim services, local cities, and school districts to track the scope of human trafficking in San Mateo County.  In addition, the Prevention Analyst may attend daytime and evening meetings with community-based and other organizations, representing the Director of Interjurisdictional Operations.  

 

Using the research findings and the collected data, the Prevention Analyst will draft high-level reports to inform policymakers, including the Board of Supervisors, of the progress of the human trafficking prevention initiative.  

 

Expertise in research and data extraction, management, and reporting are essential to success in this position. Additionally, strong verbal and written communication skills are required to prepare analyses, reports, and presentations.  Versatility and flexibility will also be important in this position.

 

Examples Of Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conduct independent research.
• Collect, aggregate, and analyze data.
• Create representational (dashboards, graphs, charts, etc.) and written reports based on research and collected data.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, community-based organizations, local jurisdictions, school districts, and county departments.
• Represent the office at community-based meetings, which might be held during the day or during the evening.
• Demonstrate political astuteness and comportment as a representative of the District Attorney’s Office and the County of San Mateo.
• Work on special projects as assigned by the Director of Interjurisdictional Operations.

 

Depending on the selected candidate, this position could be filled at the Management Analyst level or the Associate Management Analyst level.

• Associate Management Analyst is the first level classification in the Management Analyst series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents with basic professional administrative education and/or experience perform analytical and technical work. The impact of decisions is moderate, and the work is typically one of interpreting, explaining, or gathering information. The annual salary range for an Associate Management Analyst is: $104,811 – $130,998.
   
• Management Analyst is the fully experienced level classification in the Management Analyst series. Incumbents support the work of departmental management staff by conducting day-to-day administrative support activities and acting as a professional-level resource for organizational, managerial, and operational analyses and studies. The work has technical and programmatic aspects requiring the interpretation and application of policies, procedures, and regulations. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. The annual salary range for a Management Analyst is: $121,264 – $151,611.
     

Limited Term Position

Funding for this pilot program has been approved through December 2026, so this position is being filled as a Limited-Term position.  Limited-term positions are full-time, fully benefited, temporary positions.   Limited Term employees receive medical and dental benefits, like regular employees, and a defined contribution retirement plan (401-A).  Depending on need, the position could become a regular position, but there is no guarantee of this.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, data analytics, computer science, social work, psychology, public administration, or business administration, or a related field. At least one year of professional administrative experience is typically required at the Associate Management Analyst level, and at least three years for the Management Analyst level.

Experience with data analytics is required.

Because of the sensitive and difficult information this position will encounter previous experience or education in criminal justice, social work, social services, and/or psychology might be helpful.

Under general supervision, provides varied and complex office administrative assist­ance to a Director and associated division staff; creates and maintains division-specific publica­tions, contracts, tracking systems, reports, records and files required for work processes; acts as a liaison between the Director and other departments, customers and community/business groups; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

About The Position

We are seeking highly motivated, highly skilled, innovative and enthusiastic individuals to join the Recreation and Human Services Division with the City of Half Moon Bay.  As a critical member of this team you’ll be responsible for assisting in organizing and conducting a variety of recreation programs and activities.

What You Will Do

• Open, secure and close City facilities.
• Arrange chairs, tables and other equipment for events held at City facilities.
• Arrange audio system and room set-up for City Council, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee meetings.
• Monitor activities during the facility rentals and other facility usage including monitoring the time of access and departure of the group, monitoring set up and clean up quality provided by the group to ensure that department standards are met. Inspect facilities after usage ends. 
• Accept and file facility rental paperwork and drop in fees. 
• Provide customer service in person or by phone by orienting users, answering questions and resolving problems.
• Enforce department rules including facility rental policies.
• Communicate with the community in both English and Spanish (preferred).

What You Bring

Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of this classification. Knowing that any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Such as:

Building Attendant I: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent, and no experience working in a recreation setting.  Experience working in a recreation setting can substitute for the diploma or equivalent.

Building Attendant II: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and two (2) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Building Attendant III:  Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and four (4) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or four (4) years of recreation leadership experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Knowledge of:

• Basic mathematical functions.
• Equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program.

                             MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

License or Certificate:

  • Must possess good hearing ability across a frequency range from 500 Hz to 3,000 Hz. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Community Development Department (CD) is seeking a value-driven team player to fill the position of Planning Intern. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic college level student seeking broad experience within a dynamic City Planning Division. The Planning Division of the Community Development Department administers City Council policies contained in the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and other plans and ordinances. In addition, the Division establishes new and amended rules governing land use and urban design for adoption by City Council from the platform of the General Plan. The Division provides staff, professional service, and administrative support relating to the development, improvement, and preservation of affordable housing opportunities.

The Planning Intern will assist with a number of projects and efforts throughout the Division, which may include:

• Review of minor planning applications and building permits for compliance with required standards
• Prepare approval letters, staff reports, and presentations to the Zoning Administrator
• Shadowing and assisting Planning staff during public counter hours
• Conducting research for various strategic planning studies that could include Redwood City Greater Downtown Area Plan, Historic Preservation Ordinance updates.
• Preparing updates to forms, handouts, and other materials.
• Other appropriate tasks as needed.

 

 

 

Special Requirements:

Must be willing to work at City Hall for a minimum of three business days from Monday- Thursday per week. Of the three workdays, one day must be Tuesday.

About the Finance Department

oversight of the citywide operating budget of $272 million ($175.8 million General Fund) for FY 25-

The Opportunity
The Deputy Director of Finance assists in planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating the
operations of the Finance Department. This position manages assigned functional areas, which may
