Position Summary

Under general direction of the Director of Engineering Contracts, performs technical work related to preparation of contract documents, requests for proposals and formal bids, and administration of professional services agreements and construction contracts. May act as a liaison between District staff and professional consulting engineering firms or construction contractors. May serve as a contract administrative assistant to project engineers on design and construction projects. Maintains detailed and accurate records of contract compensation invoices, progress payments, status and schedules. Communicates with other District departments regarding engineering contracts. Performs related work as required.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assists in preparation of requests for proposals and formal bids, professional services agreements, and construction contract documents
• Assists with the preparation of contract amendments and contract change orders
• Performs invoice reviews and confirms invoices comply with contract requirements
• Reviews contractors' certified payrolls for compliance with contract requirements; performs labor and Small Business Enterprise / Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (SBE/DBE) compliance duties, such as, but not limited to, verifying certified payrolls with inspection daily diaries, performing contractor and sub-contractor employee interviews, verifying on-site postings of Federal and State required notices, keeping current records of Federal and State Wage Determination changes
• Assists with the review of extra work bills from contractors
• Assists with maintaining Engineering Department budgeting and accounting records
• Types correspondence, reports, forms and specialized documents related to the engineering contracts
• Researches information on the Internet and in the electronic and hard copy files for government rules, regulations and codes, historical information and certified documents
• Composes contract correspondence
• Assists with compiling Daily Diaries, matching them to their respective Extra Work Bills and entering the information onto a spreadsheet
• Prepares spreadsheets and reports for project status, summary of submitted invoices, requests for anticipated budget increases, etc.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service
• Performs additional related duties as assigned
• Regular and reliable performance and attendance is required

In the life of a 911 Dispatcher, no day is ever routine - one call may be a minor traffic accident, while the next is a frantic voice screaming for help. Using state-of-the-art equipment and extensive training, you will provide emergency dispatch services for the people of San Mateo County. You can be the difference in someone’s life.

San Mateo County’s Regional Operations Center, located in Redwood City, is home to Public Safety Communications (PSC). The Center boasts state-of-the-art equipment and communication systems, including a brand-new Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. The facility provides all the tools for dispatchers to be successful both personally and professionally. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the Center allow plenty of natural light and employees can enjoy the use of an on-site gym, Quiet Room, and large, fully equipped employee kitchen.

PSC’s leadership philosophy centers around a commitment to customer service, dispatcher well-being, and overall excellence. Examples Of Duties

Employees in this classification are trained in, and perform the following duties:

• Receive business or emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, medical, and other public service agencies.
• Screen information to determine the nature of the call, perform call classification, determine priority and jurisdiction, and document activity.
• Screen and prioritize telephone workload.
• Remain cognizant of workloads and specific systems status.
• Provide support and assistance in a team concept during day-to-day operations and critical or large-scale incidents.
• Assist in the coordination of mutual aid incidents.
• Develop and foster a positive working rapport with direct and indirect customers, the public, and co-workers.
• Testify in court regarding legal proceedings related to dispatch call(s) received.
• Prepare and submit various reports such as incident reports.
• Develop and maintain working knowledge of highways, streets, buildings, and major points of interest in the County and adjacent areas.
• Remain current on procedures for manual dispatch operations and Communications Center evacuation.
• Provide off-hours services as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position for the Community Development Department. This employment opportunity is excellent for a well-organized “people person” seeking variety and challenge.

This position has the responsibility for a variety of administrative support functions as needed. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: answering and directing telephone calls; interaction with the public, taking and responding to messages as directed, providing administrative support such as filing, data entry, and preparing correspondence, assist with the preparation of Boards and Committee materials, updating documents, scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, assist with records management, processing mail, and assisting staff with projects as needed.

This position is a non-benefited casual position. This position will be utilized for vacation relief and work overflow on a part-time basis, the work schedule will vary (as needed) between 18-20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.

The City of Menlo Park is seeking a Water Quality Specialist for the Public Works department. Under general direction, the Water Quality Specialist is responsible for performing the full range of duties required to ensure that the quality of water supplied by the City provides the highest level of safety for public use and complies with all Federal, State, and local regulations through performance of water microbiological, chemical, and physical testing and analysis and a cross-connection control. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Chief Water Operator in that the latter is the full supervisory-level class in the division, acts as the Chief Operator, and is responsible for organizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of assigned staff involved in water quality and maintenance operations and activities.

Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of Town water, sewer, street and storm drainage facilities and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
•    Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling.
•    Perform routine cleaning, inspection and preventive maintenance of equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
•    Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
•    Maintains Corporation Yard and other Town facilities.
•    Responds to residents' requests for service.
•    Maintains a variety of records relating to maintenance activity.
•    Assists in determining the locations of water, storm drain and sewer lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.
•    Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of equipment and supplies.
•    Work in adverse weather conditions.

Possible 40 or more hours per week (Subject to change) up to total 960 hours of temporary employment.

Old Meadows Community Center - Therapeutic Recreation Unit- Serving youth, teens and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities

Part-Time position: variable hours; evenings and weekends

Pay Rate: starting at $17.62 an hour

Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial tasks and provides oversight of rental groups, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons and prospective participants on the phone and in-person
• Assist permit groups with set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment
• Promptly open and unlock facilities or close and secure facilities as scheduled
• Complete facility condition forms following permit group use and incident reports as needed
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions
• Turn athletic field lights off and on for sports groups
• Sell and scan admission tickets special events and/or theater performances

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sweep floors, vacuum carpets, and dust or polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Wash windows, clean restrooms, replenish supplies, and sanitize high touch areas often
• Empty waste receptacles and remove any trash or debris found throughout facility
• May assist with conducting recreation classes
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty* satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required:

Education and Experience:
Minimum age of 18 years old with a High School Diploma (or GED). At least 250 hours of experience in customer service or a related field preferred.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to write routine correspondence using correct spelling and grammar. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense and exercise good judgement in solving problems. Ability to establish effective relationships with fellow employees, volunteers, and participants and/or parents/guardians.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Proof of negative Tuberculosis (TB) skin test prior to first day of employment
• CA Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance
• Adult and Pediatric First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of hire

The employee may provide guidance or direction to other part-time employees and to volunteers.

The City of Foster City is seeking a dedicated Code Enforcement Officer I with strong interpersonal skills. The Code Enforcement Officer will perform routine and standardized tasks and duties like conducting field checks to uncover possible violations of a variety of City codes and ordinances including zoning, nuisance, property maintenance, and housing. This position will analyze and make recommendations on policy development and investigate possible violations, contact responsible individuals in person and in writing and perform follow-up investigations to see that remedial action has been taken. 

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: AA degree from an accredited college; BA degree desirable.

Experience: One year of experience in public contact work involving investigation or inspection skills.

Management reserves the right to offer the higher level Code Enforcement Officer II position to candidates whose qualifications meet the established criteria.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration

• ICBO certificate highly desirable. Basic Peace Officer training certificate desirable.

Special Requirements
Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, twist, climb, and lift 25 pounds; exposure to cold, heat, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, vibration, chemicals, dust and mechanical hazards.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The CDD will make the hiring decision.

Under direction, performs work necessary to the effective enforcement of various municipal, regional, state and federal codes applicable to the health, safety and orderliness of existing properties in the City.

Under general supervision, investigates allegations of municipal code provisions related to regulating signs, parking, businesses, building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other existing property-related regulations concerned with assuring the health and safety of property and structures. Work assignments consist of applying current provisions of the various codes to given situations along with the work associated with other code enforcement activity.
