• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for Auburn Transit daily operations; perform regular road supervision, vehicle trial checks, and daily vehicle inspection monitoring.
• Establish schedules and methods for providing Auburn Transit services; schedule drivers to ensure routes are completed in a safe and timely manner; coordinate any changes to facilitate coverage for all shifts.
• Coordinates transportation needs for local schools and special events; prepares calendar of trips or special events to be incorporated into the bus timetable; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.

Selection Process

DEFINITION:

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSISTANT

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSISTANT

This is the entry-level class in the Transit Planner series and will receive direction and guidance from the Transit Manager. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves assisting in analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City. The Transit Planner Assistant has basic knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning. An incumbent may advance to the higher levels after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher-level class.

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSOCIATE

This is an experienced-level class within the Transit Planner series and will receive general direction from the Transit Manager. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves general analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City resulting in recommendations based on the incumbent’s work. JOB SUMMARY: The San Mateo County Transit District is seeking a highly technical IT Operations Supervisor to join our team. Under the supervision of the IT Operations Manager, the Supervisor will coordinate the efficient and effective operations of the Help Desk team for the District, including work direction and supervision of Help Desk staff and coordination with other District information technology staff. This position is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; documenting and gaining approval for all help desk support procedures and system documentation; and assisting team members in answering calls, addressing service or escalation issues, and applying independent decision making to resolve problems or escalate problems to management. The IT Operations Supervisor develops regular reports on help desk contacts, ensures that service levels are met, identifies trends and makes recommendations for service improvements, and provides budgetary recommendations to management for service growth and/or improvement.

IT Operations Supervisor will work closely with various users in San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) and other departments and is responsible for managing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of Help Desk functions. The role will also contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users at the desktop level.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Supervise help desk support staff’s daily activities ensuring timely and professional delivery of technical support for calls on computers, core software products, and related hardware peripherals.
• Plan, organize, and direct the work of help desk support staff, including Help Desk Specialists; schedule shift coverage; evaluate and document performance and recommend disciplinary action when necessary; and review staff work for accuracy and timely completion of assigned duties.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Associate Transportation Engineer in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department! 

When assigned to development review, you will have the opportunity to review residential, commercial, industrial and public works project plans, traffic impact reports, and other development and design related documents for compliance with City of Berkeley standards and regulations including all applicable local, state, and federal codes and guidelines; evaluate and recommend mitigation measures to address adverse impacts of development projects; review plan checks for small developments; and review traffic control plans for construction projects.

When assigned to capital projects designs and traffic signal systems, you will have the opportunity to manage capital improvement projects including development of conceptual design options, detailed engineering design, bid, and construction administration; prepare council reports, conduct presentations, and respond to project-related public inquiries; design/review traffic engineering design elements for Complete Streets Projects and traffic calming projects; work with project development team to analyze street and road use for all road users focusing on safety and efficiency of transportation networks; and work with traffic signal maintenance team to maintain and upgrade city’s traffic signal system, including using Synchro traffic signal timing software. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Assistant Transportation Engineer class. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year for year basis.

Other requirements include possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or a professional Civil Engineer. A CA Registration as a Traffic Engineer is preferred. Candidates must also possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree in Transportation Engineering/Planning or a related field.  

This position is responsible for driving a City owned vehicle to transport Belmont Residents to and from the Belmont Senior and Community Center.  The incumbent may perform other tasks as assigned by Parks & Rec/Senior Center Staff.

The City of Auburn is hiring to fill a part-time, Retired Annuitant Bus Driver I/II position.  Under general supervision, this position operates a bus over designated routes to transport passengers; maintains established schedule; and ensures passenger safety.

The Retired Annuitant position is limited to work no more than 960 hours per fiscal year.  Placement in the class series is dependent upon qualifications.  The salary range for each level is below:

• Bus Driver I:  $45,864 - $58,552
• Bus Driver II:  $48,152 - $61,484

Knowledge of:  Safe and defense driving principles and practices; basic first aid principles and practices; operational characteristics, maintenance, and emergency repair principles related to assigned vehicles; vehicle inspection principles and practices; geography of the City; pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations including traffic and safety laws, ordinances, regulations, and rules applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of passengers; occupational hazards and standard safety practices; methods and techniques of public relations and customer service; basic principles and procedures of record keeping.

Ability to:  Drive a bus and other automotive equipment safely and efficiently in traffic; maintain order among passengers on a bus; properly load, tie down, and secure wheelchairs on the bus; apply applicable state and local laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to transportation as well as administrative and departmental policies and procedures; respond tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately to inquiries and requests from the public; work safely and adhere to principles of safety; work independently in the absence of supervision; understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Environment:  Field environment; travel from site to site; extensive public contact; exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions; noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, and gases.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to operate a passenger bus for extended periods of time; push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate amounts of weight; twist; climb steps; operate assigned vehicles.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants will be screened in relation to the qualifications and duties of the position.  Candidates deemed highly qualified will be invited to the interview process.  Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to the process.  The process may include other skills assessments, interviews and/or related components.
